Honestly sounds like both candidates are willing to debate and as a Trump supporter, I agree, cut the mics when time is up. My opinion.
It would be more helpful to have a series of simultaneous Q&A events, where each candidate is asked to speak for 5 minutes about a specific issue. “How will you make healthcare more accessible?” “What role do you see Poland playing in America’s national security?” They don’t know what the topic will be until it’s asked, and both are recorded giving their answers. A longer response time means they can show whether they understand the topic and state clearly how they plan to manage it. Then both tapes are shown in prime time. If this was every week or two, voters would get a real good look at the cognitive and political capacity each has.
AND FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, have a mute button on Trump's microphone so they can shut him off when he interrupts and when he won't shut up when someone else is talking. We don't need a repeat of the last debate.

They should be in separate sound booths (like game shows of the 1950s) where the sound could be controlled so that only one speaker can be heard at one time. This would prevent the other debater from interrupting and drowning out the speaker.

CNN's townhall with Trump and Caitlan Collins was a DISASTER. With the exception of Briana Keilar, CNN's current anchors are not up to the challenge of moderating a Presidential debate and maintaining order that these debates deserve. Even Chris Wallace was ineffective as moderator in the 2020 debate when he was still working for Fox.
True, it was a disaster. However I believe Collins would have done better if there was a room filled with Trump supporters heckling her after every single question.
