    In this demo I will be covering...
    1) Why use warms and cools? What are complementary colours?
    2) Materials I use such as the paper. I will also cover the paints I use and the palette, plus how I hold the different brushes for different techniques.
    3) Doing the outline sketch as the first step. defining the main shapes.
    4) Doing the cool sky and the first wash of the warm background buildings and then the foreground.
    5) Shadows and details of the buildings.

    Tim, thank you so much for this video. I spent the last week trying to figure out warm and cool colors. I couldn’t find any CZcams videos that explained WHY they were using certain colors or mixes. Your explanation for this demo was great and much appreciated! 😊

    Dear Mr. Wilmot,
    I like your painting, your quiet ability to explain while painting, your style, your choice of themes for painting demos...
    in fact, I look forward every day to see what you offer, and take notes and try to emulate your work.
    I laugh when I see some of the things that you probably do subconsciously, you show your liking of cars 🚘, like a boy... and therefore you include them in ninety eight percent of your vignettes, whether we are in downtown Rome , just in front of the Coliseum, or peeping from behind a sand dune where the sign says :
    “camels🐪 have right of way”,
    somewhere in the Sahara!!! Hahaha!
    please forgive me, I’m 84 years old, if I seem to be a little forward in my comments, but think of me as an old aunt speaking...a little out of bounds but with sincere admiration!
    I was born in what then was Northern Italy before World War II, and because of it I have been rolling around the world 🌎, literally, from Europe to almost the tip of Patagonia , for one year, when my father won a bid to install the cement poles that carry the cables for the electricity

      Unfortunately I pushed the wrong button and it got published before my message was finished!
      As I was saying, I love the way you teach, so clearly and to the point...and I have experienced teachers from Europe,Patagonia and all the way up to California, so, if you pardon the pun,
      I speak from experience!

    Hi Tim. I am a begginer in this difficult world of watercolor and I must say that you are the best artist I have following on youtube Chanel. I 'm Spanish and I prefer your clases before other spanish painters do. The language is not a problem for me. Your pronounciation is very clear an your explications too. Thank you so much and congratulations again.☺

    Your talent is amazing! So far am finding doing water color the hardest medium & my paint is chalky to touch, literally flakes fly off the pallet once paint has dried so maybe reason (one) that mine look flat & seems the paint only sits on top of the paper (if that makes sense) but on a very tight budget so one day might be able to get some not chalky! Ty for these videos ❤!

    Cracking painting and guidance, as always. To my eye, the painting was more or less done at the 40 minute mark, with too much detail thereafter. But of course, each to his own.

      Yes. Knowing when to stop is important in any painting, especially in watercolour. But I love using that little brush at the moment.

    Why do you need only one (counting yellow ochre) two yellows? Would you use more if you would paint more trees, grass etc?

    • @wing1588
      @wing1588 Před 5 lety

      Z. Z. I suppose they are the colours he was using for this picture and hence only yellow ochre

    • @TimWilmot
      @TimWilmot  Před 5 lety +1

      You need only one yellow in my opinion. You can mix many shades of green with a yellow and a yellow ochre
