There was like a single accent strike here and there (like two, but again just a quick accent, not a fill or anything) but the toms could have been mic'd better.
Honestly sounds like a soft Mario Dupantier which is incredible in my opinion (im not a Drummer so thats worth absolutly fuck all) like how doyou even do that ha ha
@johnlong9494 The Toms do sit pretty low in the mix for sure. I've noticed from other videos that he keeps a ton of moon gels on them so maybe he prefers them flat and gated sounding 🤔
@mutatednut he is playing a high tuned, thick wood, 13 in drum with alot of control on the overtones with a p77 head and an s-hoop. (I'm curious if he's playing a 5 mil snare side head as well). It's a very specific sound and not the traditional deep 14 in mid range or low tuned rock snare. He wants the snare hit to get out of the way for the next stroke...gospel like. I prefer this sound as well being a primary 13 in player. Each drummer is different but yeah..this is like holy grail snare tone for me.

I'd argue that both vessel and ii are equally as important. Without vessel I fear the godlike sound of ii would overpower any ordinary vocalist. Without ii, I fear vessel wouldn't be able to sing to his full potential without overpowering the drummer. ii mentioned this in the drumeo interview. They're both equally important
This dude is a killer drum player. So damn good. Love watching/listening to him. Their latest album Take Me Back To Eden is absolutely amazing, every song is a banger. I just found them a week ago, they’ve become my new favorite band. Love these guys
As a musician who is not a drummer , I can't get enough of watching this guy. I absolutely love this band. They make it fun to dive deep into everything each musician is doing in this band.

He reminds me of one of my fav drummers that im sure nobody has heard of. Chad Kent from the band Atomship they only had 1 CD come out in the early 2000s.

So crazy how I’ve skipped over sleep token twice already and I’m so upset I didn’t discover them then, first time I missed them, was when the video of I think iv playing with his chain during the song but I never looked up the band or anything, second time was when I heard “the summoning” on TikTok and I really liked the song but for SOME reason I never looked up the song, now remembering the song I’ve been binge listening for almost two weeks now and I’ve never been more alive❤

I was not aware that II's setup is so hybrid that majority of the electronic parts are actually played live rather than being a part of backing track.
I was blown away when i realizede there were no backtracks. Like, backtracks are in almost every song these days so this just exposed his talent.
