      Yeah, but what else is he supposed to do? The guy never had an honest conversation with anyone for over a century and lived in a grand depressing illusion. Since he's screwed anyway, why not just answer the questions and get yourself one final ego boost by mentioning how great of a scientist you... were.
      By the way, I don't think he's going to stay there for too long afterwards. He already knew that his life in the simulation is meaningless, so he'll probably unalive himself sometime after, now that he doesn't even have the human toys to play with as the years go by.

    I truly hope that in-canon he experiences the magnitude of eternity, forever stuck in an empty simulation, with what little remnants of his sanity trickling away as the centuries turn into millennia alone without any stimulation, tearing his psyche and sense of self into countless screaming blips of sensation in an otherwise empty void. He was an inhuman bastard, subjecting innocent people to torture and horror for 200 years with every intent to continue beyond forever because it AMUSED him. So the failsafe ending is truly a fitting punishment, now he gets to endure the thing he was most terrified of, boredom, for all eternity, and his poor victims are finally released from their eternal torture to the peace of oblivion.

    If I had to say what the worst part of this otherwise great game is, it would be this mission: if you're going for the bad karma route, the stuff you have to do is hard to watch; if you're going for the good karma route, figuring out the code is so close to impossible guesswork that it feels like an afterthought. As much as I love this game, this mission is the one part I don't look forward to when replaying it.

If, like me, can't tell what a note is by a "little girl's" whistling, then you have to figure out the code through cheap trial and error, and who wants to do that? Can anyone clear something for me.
    I recently reached this part and did the failsafe route.
    Did the people in the simulation died permanently or did they escaped eventually?

    • @MrDeyvid34
      @MrDeyvid34 Před 3 měsíci

      They died. Braun requested the 'Chinese Invasion' program so after turning off the failsafe everyone in the simulation would die, both their avatars and real life bodies, including himself. But he realized that the Vault Tec and military secondary failsafes would prevent his own death, so he'll be alone and without control of the simulation.
      Once you activate the program, everyone dies in the simulation and in their pods, you can check their terminals when you leave the simulation, they will not have any vital signs.
      This info is in the wiki if you want more information.

    • @bend7726
      @bend7726 Před 2 měsíci

      In the terminal record, it says anyone thats killed in the simulation will actually die in real life as well. So yes there were no survivors except for you and dad. The other people in the simulation were literally over 200 years old at this point and would likely die if not instantly if there was any safe way to shut the simulation down. If someone went under in the late 40's or early 50's it would explain why everything was stuck in that period's lifestyle. It’s been well over a decade since I played as a kid, but I remember you have to talk to the townsfolk to gather what little info you can. Then at some point after snooping around, you come across this device that makes sounds in different pitches. They all sound just like the song the main scientist guy whistles. Once you get the song right, a computer appears and you can activate the failsafe. Then all these Chinese guys come and start gunning everyone down killing them. But since the failsafe has been activated, that means that once they die, they die for real because their consciousness is no longer connected to it, and thus, cannot be revived and memory wiped like how the guy has been doing.

      Hard disagree. I'm not the biggest fan of Fallout 3, but Tranquility Lane was a great concept and very well excecuted.
      If you didn't know about the failsafe you are forced to do evil acts just to rescue James, who then scolds you because by then your karma is probably shot.
      OR activate the failsafe and then the residents get killed a bit more mercifully.
      Up there for best modern-era Fallout moments for me, and again I don't really care much for Fallout 3!
