Need to know how to change Arrma Punch Settings? Not sure what they are? SUBSCRIBE & HIT THE BELL - czcams.com/users/Driftomaniac... Get the 6ch Radio Transmitter & Receiver We Now Use Here - www.banggood.com/custlink/mD3... It's got a built in Gyro, ABS Braking, and a 500M Range For Under $30! I'd not heard of them to start with either - see below for a basic explanation of these key ESC settings.
Then Follow how to change them with my step by step guide.
They are demonstrated on the Outcast as it was the easiest to show on camera. However the principles are the same for all Arrma RC cars. There are typically 5 'Variables' that can be selected on the ESC for each car, one of these in the Punch Settings variable NOTE! This is NOT the same number variable on each car/truck - You will need to see your manual for which 'variable' number it is on your car for you to set the punch level. If not you may set the wrong thing by mistake!
The punch setting is in simple terms the amount of energy given to the car when you first hit the throttle. A bit like setting how many revs are on your car/auto before you drop the clutch. Low number like 1 will give you the most gentle launch. A high number will give you much more, if not full, power.

Hmm, abs and a gyro? What dose the gyro do? And dose the abs really work like actual abs, and is it helpful is getting this beast stopped??
i know Im kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good site to watch newly released series online ?
@Caspian Allen Try Flixzone. Just google for it :)
@Erik Toby Yea, been watching on FlixZone for since march myself =)
@Erik Toby Thanks, I signed up and it seems to work :) Appreciate it!!
Thank you for info. At first i had a difficult time doing these settings but know its much easier to understand. It takes patience and practice.
Thank you mate that will help me out when my Kraton arrives in May! 👍👍
Great info. Thank you👍
Very good informational video!!!
Can you post a videos of an arrma Kraton speed test! I love your arrma outcast peed test but they pop a lot of wheelies. Does the kraton pop as many wheelies!
Thank you!!
Great video, thanks
Thx, very helpful
In situations requiring many launches is there a trade-off of increased mechanical
wear and / or higher motor temperatures for using higher punch settings ?
How do you change the punch settings on the felony? Thank you
GREAT VIDEO
Great insight
for an outcast what would the best be ?
great job thx
Thanks for info on taming the beast
No worries glad it was of use
I have lost reverse and cannot get it back? Can you please help I have gone through all the settings on the esc and its on fwd/br/rvse..
Nice video
hi bro may i ask you something about that BLX 185 esc . is it smooth to run and not like old version blx 180 is crappy and how you compare to mamba monster 2
Thank you
Cool thanks for sharing
glad to be of help
What i didnt know before and What isnt in the manual, is that the long beep is 5 and not 1. So one long beep plus one short beep is actually punch 6. That is important to know!
Thanks for sharing that. I was not fully aware on that point on the outcast. As I mention each one is slightly different but same to setup. Thanks for raising that I really do appreciate value added comments. I still learn something new daily! I will amend the description in the morning
Driftomaniacs thanx! Being relatevely new in the rc hobby i really apreciate guys like you taking the effort making these video's!!
how do u know when its 9
@@frankiej6329 one long beep, 4 short beeps.
Thanks
Awesome! Thanks man! The manual doesn’t go that far.
Nice info!
my pleasure thought it worthwhile sharing. Much easier to see on the outcast than the nero! same principle each time though
You can also use the hobbywing program box to change the settings in the esc, much easier than counting beeps
Yes I found that out later BUT this way is 100%free!!!!
And the hobbywing does work on all the arrmas like the new infraction
Free is always awesome lol.
I try to use the hobbywing program card on my outcast. But it will only let me get to item #5. The punch setting is #10. Do you have any idea why? Thanks
Hey I see your pinion is completely clean of all teeth. Is this a common thing you have or was this a special case?
Thank you very much, for posting this video. I appreciate you doing this,I have this ESC and Motor in my TRAXXAS RUSTLER.
I Love It!!!Can you tell me the best ratio for Breaking?
For 70-100 Mph speed runs,No ABS,just regular breaking.
Thanks,P.S. another video would be great, I subscribed to you.
Glad to be of help - I was 'shall I shan't I?' when it came to posting this as to whether people would find it useful. Funny you should mention braking as I've just put new gearing on my typhon and it should be comfortably over 70+ now, and braking is becoming an issue. When it stops snowing and is dry I'll try and set up a fixed camera and play around with the braking levels. Fixed camera at the side and hit the brakes on full when it passes the same point each time would show how changing the braking level decreases the stopping distance and at what point it begins to lock the wheels. It may do it earlier on the rustler as the arrmas are a lot heavier. That must shift in that Rustler! I got one as my first car, then upgraded to VXL spec, then changed gearing to top optional one traxxas sell, 2s then 3s. Then decided I needed a much bigger area to play in. I've just bought a Raider XL - 2wd as well but surprisingly little tendency to wheelie. I try and do a wide mix of videos some reviews, some fast cars and some slow ones as well as tech tips like these.
Driftomaniacs ,Thank you again brother! Can't express how much that video came in hand.
I just saw a video on CZcams, and a gentleman is doing a racing setup. And he sets the brakes at 50%,that's the highest this ESC can program to.Ill throw up the post, thanks friend!
I'll give that a try, it's been on my mind for a while. I've XO1 tires on the typhon and when it's dry they help braking no end but top speed is meaning it's harder to slow down e.g. more brake is needed!
Also how to calm down the wheelieing? I herd heavier diff fluids?
heavier in the centre for sure!
Also , can you run either a notorious or a kraton 6s on a single 3s 50c battery?
I’ve been going bk and forth sharing my new notorious with my 12 yr old so instead of buying additional batteries I’d like to run it on a single 3s but I thought I read that it could damm the electronics. Didn’t make sense to me , I kno too much power can fry stuff but what would too little do beside be slower??
Marc sorry for late reply been building chicken coop all day! 4S is the minimum the ESC needs (AND 50C minimum) if you've a Kraton v4 you can dial the power down to 50/75/100 from the transmitter. Hope that helps.
So how is the low battery alert set? or it it automatically set?
From what ive read there set from factory to 3.4 v
What dose the gyro do??
I just got a notorious, and I would like to upgrade the radio, and steering servo. Also looking for a better set of wheels , I’m running on the street mostly but don’t really want slicks..I’d still like to go on the dirt, Iv seen a lot of positive reviews on the Masher wheels?
Their tred looks perfect to me but wut do I kno lol
Notorious already has AVC which is like the gyro so DO NOT fit a gyro otherwise it'll battle against the avc. Basically both the AVC and a gyro turn into a skid, so when the back end of the car drifts out the front end turns into the skid. Makes you look like a drift god when dialed in right
@@DriftomaniacsRC are u sure, wouldn’t the controller have a knob to adjust it ?
And even the hobby store I bought it from says it doesn’t have a gyro
Is this also the same with the senton 6s blx??
As I mention in the video Matt each arrma has different variables, the way to set them is the same on each car BUT the variables vary from car to car so best to check your manual. e.g. variable 1 might be braking on one arrma but battery type on another.
2:38 nice lol
I wish I would have watched this before I did my backflip challenge!
Still time for a second go!
Whats the point of turning the punch setting up... when you can just pull the trigger back fully..( and get full power anyway).could someone help me to understand.. all I see is less slow speed control at the bottom end in my mind.
Cheers..
Sam the point is that it increases that 'off the line' power. If you're on punch setting 3 and your mates on punch setting 5 they'll leave you for dead whenever you accelerate. Yes you will have less low speed control as it pulls away brisker, but then it's not a crawler so are you worried about the very low end? It'll also wheelier easier at any time, and increase the mid range power delivery. Increasing the punch setting increases the amount of power you get lower down, so it accelerates faster. Hope that makes sense
@@DriftomaniacsRC
Thanks for the detailed reply....
I can see this being useful at races... or for wheelies... as it gives you that extra.... um.... punch : - )
It was set to high from the factory on my AbsimaTR8EV2 ... and chewed the drive cups front and rear... and centre shaft cups.... they obviously wern't strong enough....
My Kraton has a much better power to steel strengh ratio...so I would expect that not to happen so easily...
Have you had any wear on the drive cups yourself since upping the punch settings?...
If I stay on setting 9 will it hurt the truck
Now that's a question for Arrma! I'd say it shouldn't do BUT I'd not advise launching every time at max power. Also I think set on 9 all the time and you'd not find it so nice to drive e.g. I love wheelies but like all 4 wheels on the ground most of the time. But if you're worried about permanent damage to electrics or drivetrain please check with arrma. I'd could say yes 100% and then you be upset at me if it breaks. Hope you understand
Ok thx
Usually, the highest setting is based on batt. ability. If you use this setting, you will cause more drivetrain stress if you are running high quality batteries.
thanks man, didn't know this.
No worries hope it's of use - just remember this is the way to do it on each car BUT check the manual as the punch setting variable varies for each car. Hopefully that makes sense. Same method each time though. I've not dare try the outcast on max punch as yet!
I can't get my punch setting past 4 beeps on my notorious. Any idea what may be wrong?
Rob the '5' beeps is confusing as it sounds like one long beep, however it's 5 very very fast together. I learnt that off someone else when I thought mine wasn't working. So say punch setting 7 infact then sounds like 3 Beeps but it's not it's one blast of 5 which sounds like one long beep follow by 2 shorter ones but whilst it sounds like 3 not 7 it's 5+1+1 hope that helps out
@@DriftomaniacsRC thanks ill give that a shot and see what happens. Thanks for the reply
So are you trying to get more punch from your notorious, what good will that do? It instantly flips know when you punch it, and that’s on the stock setting witch I believe is 4??
Mine does it same thing Typhon 3s 4 Max I put mine on 4
@@marctoscanini7225 yes 4 is highest setting I just try
What lunch setting is best?
12 pm hehe
I usually set my microwave for 90 seconds for lunch.
What means punch level?... More speed or more acceleration?
Romeo it's that initial acceleration as opposed to top speed.
Will that cause even more wheelies??
Is there any setting to give more top speed
Mine only shows green somone help please
And no beeps on mine
what car are you trying this on?
@@DriftomaniacsRC arrma kraton
i only get to 4 beeps and then it starts over again..
Hi, read the comment of friso fox
the long beep isn't 1, the long beep is 5. so 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps will be setting 7
Philip apologies I was not aware of the outcast slight difference to the nero (Which I first tried it on but couldn't film the ESC well). I'm going to amend the description tomorrow to reflect this on the outcast. I learn more daily. I double checked the outcast manual prior to filming as well! Thanks for raising this and highlighting my oversight. Hopefully people get the principal though which seems the same for all arrma cars. Thanks again for highlighting this.
Driftomaniacs how many settings have you on the Nero?
There's only 5! Hence the unforced omission, as I tried it on the nero first of all (Changed it to punch 1 mode so as to better use the 'Climb' mode on the diff brain) but it was hard to film the lights. I checked the outcast manual as well before filiming. Best laid plans etc. Thanks again for highlighting it. Hopefully the jist of what's needed comes across. I'll re-write it in the morning and add an annotation. Calling it a night for now. Good one coming up of the typhon on 4S on paddle tires in two inches of snow.
Philip Webb thanks this helped a lot! I kept wondering like wtf this isn’t 9 settings 🤦🏼♂️😂
Is your pinion shredded?
no why do you ask?
Oh, ok. It just looks that way in the video.
I heard a rumor that NERO was chased out of the U.S. market by a patent copy of TRAXXAS..IS THERE ANY WAY WE CAN JUST GET ALONG..NERO is the best built for the buck you can find..HPI didnt sue even though NERO has the same style frame as the SAVAGE OCTANE..which i might add was a complete failure...your thoughts
Yes the nero has gone and the lawsuit took hobbico under as well. Thing is the suspension design came from formula 1 back in the sixties, yet f1 never sued traxxas over the original erevo!
@@DriftomaniacsRC go figure
Indeed it just seems crazy one company can sue another over an idea they didn't really invent. People might say it's an rc car not an F1 car BUT as I'm typing this don't tamiya sell F1 replicas????? Hobbico's lawyers need firing if that's the case. I just love good rc cars don't care if arrma or traxxas makes them!
I think you got punch numbers wrong. The long beep sound should be level 5. When it beeps long then a short beep it's level 6, and long beep with 2 short beeps is 7. And so on.....
I thought lower punch or 0 punch was most power
no the max punch is based on max number
You're much better than having to listen to all that swearing 🤬 from Heavy Metal RC
Wrong, wrong wrong, notice the long beep, this is saying 5, long beep plus one short is 6, long beep plus 2 short beeps is 7 etc etc up to 4 short (which is 9)
In this video he finished up at 8, not 4 as he says
If you'd read the other comments you'd see I/others had addressed the same issue some months back, or was it over a year? Also no offence but if you already know this then why the hell are you watching a video on how to do it?????? Always baffles me as to why people would watch a how to video if they already know how to do it, no offence but that's odd...
@@DriftomaniacsRC I didn't read the comments and I wouldn't exactly say I know how to do it, hardly "odd" if I'm learning, I had watched this video before watching yours, czcams.com/video/tRbIyBQxQZM/video.html, from which I gleaned much information and I knew about the long beeps meaning 5, but the video pertains to several arrma models (Typhon, Talion, Kraton, Senton) but not the Outcast/Notorious and for all I knew the variables could of been in a different order, hence the reason I watched this video
first comment
Can you post a videos of an arrma Kraton speed test! I love your arrma outcast peed test but they pop a lot of wheelies. Does the kraton pop as many wheelies!
