Filipinas looking for husbands is nothing new - in our culture, marriage is still the gold standard for a happy life. But what do Filipinas have to offer a prospective husband, and what are the hidden problems you might not be aware of until it's too late? Well let's talk to local ladies, and find out exactly what they're looking for, compared to what they have to offer in return - is it enough to make marriage an attractive proposition?

Pea as Traditional Roman Catholic man who comes from a close nit family of 12 I can confirmed these ladies have it about 80 %, correct. Close Familys can be a strong support mechanism. But you do not marry her family nor she yours. The church has always defined the properly ordered state of holy matrimony. You are to become one and you are looking after each other's best interests all the days of your life. I'm a traditional Latin right pre-vatican two Catholic Not a Novas Ordo Vatican Two false Church of sin. Contraception divorce fornication adultery sexual impurity in thoughts word or deed outside of or inside of the marriage is abomination. Strictly forbidden by God under the pain of eternal damnation. There's nothing wrong with a woman working and doing things to supplement the income and manage the household income and increase their family's well-being. A woman first job is being a mans help mate. She is the heart of the home. Cooperation is expected an disrespect not to be tolerated From either party. I do expect women to work and pay their own bills. But that doesn't need to be her first priority in the marriage state. If a woman wants to be a keep woman she can sign up for being a concubine. A wife is not a w**** Valid marriages in the authentic Roman Catholic tradition by a priest is an absolute necessity for two to live in a pleasing to God. A piece of paper at the courthouse is not marriage at best a very bad idea. God Bless

Once all of her expectations became clear, the financial burden of what she was requiring of me outweighed all of the wonderful qualities (beauty, good personality, etc., etc.) that she brought to the table. I felt so much pressure that I ended the relationship.

I agree with this as well. This is truly a traditional way of marriage. Parents will die off, siblings, & even children will move on in their own lives. In the end it is just the man & the woman. "Come What May!" As in the traditional christian vows -- "I do take thee for richer or poorer, in sickness & health. To love, respect, & care for one another until death do us part!"
No thing in there about be a disposable or convenient relationship.
As a father of four (4) I do be leave there a just causes for a divorce in extreme cases. Not as a matter on convenience... As so many are for... I know a guy that married a woman as they became pregnant & they did love eachother. Once married the woman refused love or any type of physical affection. After 12 year it led to the man finally giving in to temptation of another woman. They where both wrong. My opinion, both of the women were cause, and they, including the man, ended up in the wrong.

Great interview questions. All of the girls were likable, but Aimee has the best understanding of what a marriage is about. A man isn't looking for a family to marry. He is looking for a woman to marry. And he doesn't want to be that woman's lowest priority while she expects to be his highest.
It's sad that the Filipinas kept going back to housework as the reason a man should get married. As you said, a man can hire a maid...so "wife" and "maid" aren't the same thing. The right answer to the question of why a man and woman should marry is so that they can spend their whole lives with someone they love and who loves them, someone who will have their back and whose back they will have, someone who they can experience life with, someone who they can please sexually and who can please them sexually. Things like that. Not because of housework.

  • @BrianSmith-zj7vn

I liked Aimee's answers the best. My wife will always be my first priority and I want to mean the same to her... When we are married, everything begins with her and I. We are now one person in God's eyes so NOBODY can come between us for ANY reason. Everybody else comes after us (except God). This, in my opinion, is the best and only way to have a truly happy marriage. Everyone else in our lives is important as well ... Just not as important as us as a married couple.

Here's the thing I noticed, they all led with the financial part of it. "Support the family financially." To me that would be where I walk away. If you ask them what the role of a husband is and they lead with money that's a major red flag. Love and commitment, supporting one another emotionally should be what is valued above it all. The financial part comes last, it has to be there yes but by putting it first that just tells me your focus is in the wrong place. A lot of foreign men are leaving their countries to get away from people who just use them as an ATM and this honestly sounds like more of the same, they just seem nicer about it.

I do agree that the things of the heart should be number 1! I think that's where some Filipinas could use some help in learning. But I guess you can say that about any race, honestly.
Having said that, I think we have to have a little understanding on their answers about provision. I've been to the Philippines twice and have seen the poverty there. The things we take for granted here are luxuries to alot of Filipinas. I remember a Filipina telling me how much they love staying in a hotel because it has hot water, climate control, and comfort bed for a good rest.
So with both those statements in mind, how do you mingle the 2: giving understanding but also the Filipina learning to prioritize the things of the heart. That's a tough question to answer.

I like how these women answered all the questions and how most of them had the same answers even though they were laughing about it😅 I agreed with the husbands are the provider, the protector and the leader of the household and being the wife is the one that lights up the house, who takes care of the kids and husband, who comforts them and all. But to me I also wanna work not because my husband wants me to but because I want to help him build our future. I believe that its okay for women to be a stay at home mom/wife or be a working mom/wife. It doesnt have to be a full time job so you could still spend time with your family. It feels good when you have your own money, and it feels better when youre helping paying the bills, spoiled each other and most importantly building your family's future together.
We all know how "family oriented" filipino are. I'm pretty sure most of our parents said the same thing "Always looked out for each other coz only family can help each other" but nowadays even your own family would bring you down and not treat you right. If I'm married I'd always pick my husband, but that doesnt mean that youre already abandoning your family. Hearing your families/relatives saying bad things just to guilt trip you as to why would you pick your husband over them is such a toxic behavior. You're not just choosing your husband, youre choosing your safe place, your peace and comfort, the one who listens to you when nobody can. And the one who loves you more than anybody else.
Again, everyone has their own perspective about marriage and I respect them all. ❤❤❤❤

    Dear Filipina Pea,
I recently watched your video on Filipinas searching for husbands, and I appreciate the insights you provided on several important issues. One such issue is how some Filipina families may view Western men primarily as sources of financial support, often likening them to ATMs. Another significant topic you addressed is marriage, especially concerning men in the United States nowadays. I'd like to share my perspective on these matters without inviting unnecessary negativity.
Speaking from personal experience, I reside in Chicago. When I met my wife, who hails from Cebu, in 2007, I noticed that many Filipino women held prejudiced views about Black men, fueled by racially biased media portrayals. Unfortunately, my wife faced backlash from some of her coworkers for choosing to be with me. However, I'm glad to see that such misconceptions have been challenged, particularly in light of the recent surge in anti-Asian sentiments.
Regarding familial expectations, both Black and Hispanic communities are accustomed to providing support to family members in need. As long as a Filipina's family isn't seeking to take advantage of her American husband, addressing this topic early on can foster understanding. Interestingly, based on my own observations, Caucasian husbands may struggle more with comprehending why Filipino families may request financial assistance.
On June 8th, my wife and I will celebrate our 15th anniversary. Our daughter, who is 13 years old, will soon graduate. Despite the challenges, she has received an offer from one of the top-ranked high schools in Chicago, a testament to her academic achievements.
For me, our daughter was a primary motivator in seeking a relationship with a Filipina woman. I wanted my child to have a mother I never needed to doubt about her dedication to our child and myself. It's worth noting that many Black men, including myself, have adopted more conservative views, and my wife's acceptance of my preference for non-physical discipline in parenting was crucial.
In sharing my story, I hope to encourage Filipina women who may not have considered relationships with Black men to broaden their perspectives. In my wife's circle of friends, I'm one of ten Black men married to Filipina women, disproving stereotypes about Black men being unreliable partners. Additionally, my wife and I have a noticeable height difference-she stands at 4'11" while I'm 6'1".
I also want to highlight positive examples like the women on Rivah TV and Melanie King, showcasing why Black men are increasingly drawn to the Philippines for meaningful relationships.
    Warm regards,
    Risteen Gates

The main problem with marrying young Filipinas is they can still be very brainwashed by her parents to be a provider for them. It takes a few years for a Filipina working hard, sending all extra money home and seeing that money being used to make other people's lives better while she is taken for granted. Marrying a 30+ Filipina is more likely to be ready to understand "family" is what she can create with a man. Unfortunately by 30+ most (66%) of Filipinas already have kids so she has already created a dysfunctional family of her own.
Fortunately there are options. Many more Filipinas willing to be a live-in housekeeper. So for $150-200/mo USD plus food the household is taken care of. Dating is also easy so that's taken care of and you get variety and as soon as a girlfriend creates drama you can easily move on.

I respectfully disagree with the first part. Most but not all of those over 30 already have someone else's children, are very jaded and are set in their ways. That said, it all depends on the person, young or old. Speaking from personal experience, my wife who is Filipino, has 7 siblings, neither of her parents ask her for money but we send some on birthdays etc. for the parents only. We lived together for 4 years before getting married and travel/worked all over the World due to my expatriate job. When we finally came to the USA after 6 years the first thing we did was to get her a good education with a job that has a future. She's now a dental hygienist and makes good money but still doesn't send money home because she knows she'll need it for her own future. Btw, she doesn't have kids, never did and doesn't want them either.

Pea, here in the U S sometimes it takes both husband and wife to work and be successful. My Filipina wife has been a God Send! When we got married I was in good health. The last five years I’ve had some physical problems. Before that she had cancer and I took care of her during recovery, that’s what true love is about (in sickness and in health). We were both widowed (2 weeks apart half a world away) her son was 4 when his dad died and I’m the only father her remembers, I let him decide when he was old enough about adoption, I always made my feelings clear about it (that I wanted to be his father) even my 3 adult daughters call him their “Baby Brother” and my Grand kids call him “Uncle” ( my oldest grandson is 8 months younger and they are in the same grade in High School)

Makes me feel very welcome in her family. My traditional Filipina feels that she is to take care of me in every way first every thing else is second. As far as marriage- It's not just a piece of paper or rings. It's the unification of a man and woman in the eyes of God (after the consummation-wedding night) where then they become one.

Hello Pea! Greetings from NYC - To me the first girl raised some red flags when she mentioned that she would choose her family over her husband and that she would leave him for her family. Then you followed up by quoting the Bible passage about the wife leaving her family and becoming one flesh with her husband was a great response. As a devout Christian myself this raised red flags for me as this is someone I could not fully trust to be committed to me and our family unit as a whole. If a wife puts her home family priority over her husband then I wonder what could go wrong if someday the family decides that they don’t agree with or like me? They will then have greater influence over her than her husband.
So if I were just getting to know her I would just “friend zone” her.

    Pea:
Interesting interviews. Although most of the answers were similar the one that stood out to me was the one who agreed that there is no advantage for a man in a marriage. Some might think that marriage is nothing but a piece of paper, and others would think that it's more than just a contract to be together but an emotional bonding between two people. The sad reality is that when a man who has put his hand in the fire of marriage and gotten burned and then goes to a place like the Philippines, then finds a beautiful woman to have a relationship with but not want to get married, it's in his mind that he's going to get burned again, and some of these beautiful Filipinas don't see or understand the feeling of building wealth, having it all taken from you, then having to build it all up again just to enjoy the last years of your life with someone new that wants the same commitment as the one that broke him the first time. It's a good thing that none of them are scared to sign a prenup, because I think that for men who have already been burned once before would or should want one if they really are that pressured into marriage by their Filipina.

Be careful to not judge a young lady who only knows her family. These girls aren't reading vogue or going on 5 dates a week. Once she finds the right man the attitude changes and her husband will be #1. But she doesn't know that because her family has been everything to her.
A western girl would say "she" comes first. Lol. So I will take a person who believes in family because one day I would be her family.
As for money, they aren't saying 6 figures, just being a provider. I find that normal given it's been that way for thousands of years. A woman would never accept a suitors advances unless he could provide for her and their future kids. I like a person who is honest. How many western women say all the right things and then divorce you - at least 50%. And if you lose your job how many western women will stick it out - none!
The west is actually a much better place for a broke guy. Just date a woman 20 yrs older and she will support you.

If the men should provide then the women should answer "what I bring to the table is love, commitment, understanding, I bring being the best part and reason to come home too" just as a man should answer, "I will work and provide everything I can, to never let my family suffer as long as I am able to do it I will do it".

The "stay together forever without marriage" question intrigues me because of what it implies about where the woman places her trust and loyalty. When she says that she wants the security that comes from marriage, she's saying that she puts more trust and loyalty in the government than she puts in the man that she is choosing for her mate. For me, this is a red flag. It is important for me (and I would guess for most men) that the woman that I spend my life will trust me and be loyal to me--over anything or anyone else. This idea stretches to include the "choosing her family over her man" question as well. It tells her man that she puts more trust and loyalty in her family than in him. So in the totem pole of trust and loyalty, her man (at best) comes third after the government and her family; that's disconcerting.

If I was a examiner all of them would have failed because it's obvious that a man is only a tool for them to use at their advantage,it's clearly stated that you should leave your family and give priority to your new family which includes the husband, and the wedding vows clearly stated, that you are signing up for better or worse, until death do you apart, any woman that can't make me number one, like I make her doesn't deserve a ring from me, it goes back to how most filipinas see western men as just a atm or a ticket out of poverty.

I hear you, but don't sound like "We" men are so great. How many men that leave their wife for a much younger woman and other things??? Being with a man without the actual paper can strike fear that he might leave her high and dry at any time. Maybe not you, but can you speak for every man??? For her, an official paper with a stamp on it can be a sign of a true commitment for life. Just wanted to put myself in their shoes for a moment. I don't necessarily see this as putting their trust in the government. By the way, marriage is God's idea, not the government. However, I'm fully aware that the government has put a big spin on it that causes a huge disadvantage to men.

    • @jeffbateman3620

@@thedreamer9011 My issue with marriage is specific to governmental interference. I don't have an issue with religious marriage; in fact I'm for it (if it were possible to divorce it from government overreach). A man and woman trusting each other and being loyal to each other for their whole lives is a beautiful and societally foundational thing. Regardless of an individual's stance on government marriage, what underlies it should be that trust and loyalty. Without these, marriage is nothing but a legal document that creates a power imbalance that advantages women and disadvantages men. I don't lack empathy; and I have no problem seeing things from the other side. If I were a woman, and I didn't have enough trust and loyalty in my potential mate to be with him without a legal contract, then I wouldn't be with him regardless. I didn't speak for all men. I said that I suspect that trust and loyalty are important to most men; and I stand by that guess. Neither did I suggest that men are "so great". I reject the implication that men somehow risk less then women.

The logic isn't that hard to grasp, family is forever but marriage can end. And marriage binds you legally so you can't just up and abandon them because you want a newer model. They are ok with signing a prenup so they don't want your stuff...my wife is filipina and she "protects" me from her family by scolding them if they ask me for money because she knows i'm not rich, she's super possessive but it's ok because i don't care to wander around anyway.

Great video, and excellent insight. One thing that stood out to me is how open and honest the girls were about what they wanted. Even if the answers weren't exactly what you want to hear, at least there is no dishonesty. The almost universal attitude that the husband comes after the family is a bit of a problem for me. I expect to provide disproportionate value in any relationship with a woman, but to be disregarded on top of that, well,...I'm not that lonely. Of course I would always expect that a girls family would be important. I would never attempt to push her into the situation of choosing, but her ultimate loyalty would have to be to me if she expects my loyalty to be to her. I love that the Pea asked the obvious questions. Yes we can easily afford a house cleaner, a cook and a nurse. What most men really want is simply someone who respects, loves, and cares for them. These young ladies would do well to consider that. Hell, most men would pay for their loving wives to have domestic help too!

I noticed that when asked what is the role of a wife?, Their first duty is to the children, which may have come from a previous relationship. If she never dated or married a man for the rest of her life, wouldn't that be her automatic duty anyway? That is the role of a mother, not a wife per se. The question begs, what is the role of a wife that benefits her husband? And if her priority after saying the wedding vows is still her children even from previous relationships, didn't she just thwart the entire purpose and commitment of the wedding vows? This is exactly why single mothers here in the US are still largely single. If the man comes last in a woman's life and he is expected to pay for her children as a result of a marriage to a single mother, how will this work exactly to benefit a man? It because a situation where the man has all the responsibility but no authority over the children.

    • @paulcanfield4157

Very true, a man and woman putting their personal relationship before the children models how to have a healthy relationship. If two adults cannot communicate to one another how can they convey stability to children...
What you described about the singles moms is women in survival mode. Their nature is to protect their offspring and will marry a man they do not love or desire to ensure security. This is why lately we see a lot of women leave men later in life after the children are grown, especially if they didn't have children together and she grows bored. 80%+ it's the woman leaving the man, so just another of the many reasons.
Lesbian divorce rates are the highest and give the same exact reasons for divorce as the heterosexual marriages. So when men are completely removed from the equation we see the issues magnified.
