How calm and collected you stayed is amazing.
lol Thanks😁
that's the Japanese culture kicking in, I hope your recovery is speedy and complete Yuka, we'll see you shredding in no time💪🏻
This is also a critical skill if ever injured (especially head injuries ). Freaking out cause increased blood pressure which will complicate and even make fatal some head injuries.. Nice job Yuka!
Props and prayers to you from Australia! May you heal well.
@@giulianotesta1847 Nope, that's called adrenaline and shock.
So gnarly, Yuka! You guys handled it super well. Hope you're doing better and making a full recovery!
yo no way love your content dude
Wow, this was actually upsetting to watch. Glad you’re recovering. That rescue guy was outstanding, so calm and professional. I can only imagine how your husband felt during that. Take care and ride safe :)
Thanks for the compliment : I asked to not be featured and Yuka featured me anyways. A pretty poor move on her part, I’ve contacted her since and she refuses to take down. She’s a bad person.
@@ericclements7688 sorry to hear that Eric. That being said, still you did a great job if that is any consultation.
I appreciate your kindness; it’s too bad yuka and Eric love to take advantage of the people they call to help them.
@ericclements7688 yeah im skeptical about this. Anyone can claim to be someone they arent online
@@dayinnymtb think they are a troll. Profile pic doesn't match the person on the video, no videos themselves account created day this video was posted. So i call bull shit
Hey from a guy whose spent 3 months in the hospital and 3 months in a body cast, all from Motocross stuff. You were remarkable. You have such a cool attitude. Your narration is wonderful. I know you will make a full recovery. I'm 65 and my son and I use to go to Whistler a couple times a year. I just slow it down and enjoy the fact that I can still ride and enjoy every day! You are the bomb!
that is brutal mate so glad that for me medicine had come far enough that they could do surgery instead of having a cast
I feel for you, Yuka. I crashed on 3/26/2022 at SkyPark and broke my neck in two places as well as some ribs and a lot of soft tissue damage. I was also very lucky and didn’t end up paralyzed. But now I have four fused vertebrae holding everything together. Life changing to say the least. I love your channel and am so happy that you’re going to make a full recovery!
OMG. That must been a bad crash. I hope you heal up soon too🥲
@@VanGirlYuka Yuka, how did that happen you where doing fine
hope you are ok
Holy shit Yuka, that was absolutely insane. Seeing you overshoot that stepup from Eric his angle looked so scary, can't imagine how he must have felt. Good reminder to never let emotions take over the bike, especially with features where the consequences can be so big! No clue how you managed to stay so calm in such a scary situation but kudos. I think i somehow freaked out more on this side of the screen while hearing the crashing noises then you did after it just happend.
Glad you are still (mostly) in one piece and i wish you a full and quick recovery, i'm sure you'll be boaring down mountains again soon enough! Last but not least, so much respect for the rescue team, truly awesome work they do!
Don't underestimate any features! and I appreciate the rescue team, doctors, and nurses for what they did. Because of them, I could overcome the accident. Thank you.
Jesus the instant panick and fear in Eric's voice was so heartbreaking
I love how composed you are throughout your accident and the telling of your story.
Oh Yuka, I'm so sorry this happened. You are such a warrior, I know you will heal up. Praying that your mental state will recover fully as well. I'm cheering you on!!!
now my brain sees completely different views. Everything looks so big and scary
@@VanGirlYuka takes time, your confidence needs time to heal too
Gnarly crash! I'm glad your spine is relatively in a good shape! Get well, Yuka!
It's really great that you chose to share this experience and that you also left in the parts with the rescue team. Their response was great and showed good first responder skills.
Having been through this twice now with Cory, I can definitely feel the intensity of this. Get well soon, Yuka. It'll feel like it takes forever to heal and you'll have moments of some negative intrusive thoughts, but just know that it'll pass. Cory's stuck to the ground for now as well. She hasn't fully recovered from her torn shoulder tendons from last year and she just recently detached her collarbone on that same shoulder. Needless to say, no big jumps or drops for a while. At least she's back to pedaling around on flatter trails. With some aggressive PT, we're hoping she can enjoy a trip to Windrock by February. Best wishes to you two.
I'm sorry that you had to go through something like this. I have always been impressed with how confident you are, how you hit features and how you've been able to hop up after previous scary crashes. I hope you heal completely and are able to enjoy riding again soon.
What a huge off and it could've so much worse, and you handled it better than 99% of the rest of us. Healing vibes girl!!
Big respect for Eric as well. He knew what to do right away. I’ve seen too many severe injuries where people helping person who crashed aren’t taking action quick enough and weren’t doing something quite right. He knew right away to call for help, and the correct actions to prevent you from getting more hurt while help was on the way.
Wow, that's some scary stuff!! I'm glad you were okay and hope you'll "gear it down" a bit in the future. Sounds like it was the end of a long day of riding when this happened... another mistake might have been you were just too fatigued from riding all day. HEAL UP Yuka!!
This likely won't be a popular comment and I hate to say it, but I believe this was coming for some time.
Luck has been at play from what I've seen in your previous videos as of late, I'm glad you're okay.
It really is key to stay within your competency level and take the time to assess features, your mental state, and the mechanical state of your bike.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Also proper protection at least when using the chair lift in bikeparks. Riding black jump lines in a bikepark without back protection and protective pants? Modern protective gear has become so good, there really is no excuse.
Sorry to say bit 'ditto'
It’s lucky this happened on a step up, I think.
we both bought back protections after the crash👍 next is pants...
@@VanGirlYuka You can tell where people have hurt themselves by the padding they wear...
Super impressed at how calm and nonchalant you were afterwards.
I knew crying wouldn't help anybody...😞
@@VanGirlYuka Crying never helps. Besides, there's no crying in mountain biking. 😂
That was actually pretty scary to watch, but I‘m so glad nothing worse had happened to you! Thank you so much for sharing this with us and reminding each one of us (and yourself) what kind of mistakes may be avoided. Stay safe everyone and have fun, I hope you‘re recovering well, Yuka!
I wish you speedy recovery my dude!!! So sorry you had to go through something like this! Healing vibes yo!
That was too scary. I hope you have a strong and speedy recovery. Glad this crash wasn't any worse.
I'm already getting better! Hopefully I can send some of your stuff next time we visit😁
@@VanGirlYuka I'll be looking forward to it
I have to admit, I don't think I would have taken a crash like that so well. Every video of yours and Eric's amazes me with your commitment determination and pure ballsyness! Heal up quick and can't wait to see you back on the bike soon. You're still an inspiration to a lot of people Yuka. 🤟
That was a scary learning experience, I’m so glad you’re okay! I love watching you guys and you are one of my favorite riders to watch. You have inspired me for several years now and I hate to see you hurt, but I’m sure you won’t let this keep you from coming back and conquering that feature when you are well again! 😊😊
OMG Yuka, my heart sank when I first saw this. I'm SOOOO glad that you're okay...or will be okay once you've healed. I've followed your channel for a long time and seen you make quite a few crashes, but this one was different. You've always been able to bounce right up. Your speed was crazy fast on this one though. Dangerously fast. I am so very grateful that it was not worse than it turned out to be. So take care of you, rest and recover. The rest will take care of itself.
Hope you feel better soon and get back to riding asap, Gimpee! Also much appreciation for showing us this video so we can learn! That in itself takes a lot of courage to do. It just shows that anything can happen at any time.
We need to be careful and cheerful when we ride a bike👍✨
We sometimes forget how dangerous MTB can be. Hoping for a quick recovery and glad you're relatively okay!
So sorry for what happened to you, you’re such an inspiring mtb rider for much of us. I wish you a good recovery, take care !
Im so sad to see you crash ): my thoughts and prayers go out to you during your recovery. Stay strong and patient 💪🏼
I broke my wrist and shoulder 3 months ago and was screaming of pain when I crashed. Insane how you kept your calm. tougher than me for sure.
Love following you guys. It's so selfless of you to take us through your mistakes that lead you to crash. Thank you and i hope you have a swift recovery
Oh my goodness! So glad the injuries were not as bad as they could have been. I really like the way you approached and produced the whole video. Very well done and I wish you a speedy and full recovery.
The daily mindset is so important to riding safely! Thanks Yuka so much for sharing this video with all of us who love tuning in to watch you and Eric shred.... Wishing you a speedy recovery
I’m so sorry this happened to you. It’s so scary but I’m glad it wasn’t worse. You were so lucky to have a great team to help you out after the crash. Heal up quick!
Praying for your speedy recovery🙏🏼 looking forward to watch your videoes:)
Wishing you a speedy recovery. You are one of the bravest most chill people I know. ❤
I am wishing you a speedy recovery. You were so calm and cool during the whole process. We all could learn from that.
Thanks for making content of the great and not so great moments of mountain biking. Great learning moments.
Hope you’re healing up well Yuka
I'm so glad you'll make a full recovery. You're an incredible person. I love your attitude to everything.
Glad to see you were better than expected it was scary to watch and very intense as though I could feel your pain. Hope you are healing quickly and continue to ride safe. And shout out to all the emergency workers for help and quick response.
I wish you a prompt recovery Yuka, don't give up shredding!
Ouch… sooooo sorry!! Hope you feel better soon. Strong and swift recovery!! 🙏🏼👊🏼
I'm so glad that you're going to be ok Yuka. That was a very hard crash. Im praying for a quick and full recovery for you. Hang in there! 👍
The calm before and after the storm. Hoping for a speedy recovery Yuka!
Oh my gosh, my heart was in my mouth looking at that crash. I had a long recovery after a nasty bike crash and I know how tough it can l be - and how terrifying it is to lie there knowing you've done serious damage, but have no idea just how bad it is. Best wishes on your recovery, I'm sure you'll be back on the saddle soon!
Thank you for your vulnerability. I hope you have a speedy recovery. Can't wait to see you on the trails again.
I'm glad to hear you'll be making a full recovery! I can second all those tips you gave about when not to send a jump, as I had a similar crash a bit over a year ago. In that one, I also made a bad decision, which resulted in 4 crushed vertebrae and a broken sternum. Good luck with your recovery!
That was pretty terrifying... I can only imagine what went through both you and Eric's heads when it happened. Great lessons learned for all of us. Thanks for sharing and heal up soon!
Glad you were not seriously injured. Your comments about being in the right state of mind can be applied to so many things. Prayers for quick healing!
Damn, Yuka looks so young for 36, get well soon!
Wow, this hit close to home for me as I broke both my arms riding Kaboom at sunpeaks in the beginning of September in a very similar situation to the one you were in. I’m glad you came out of it relatively unscathed and will get to ride another day. Thanks for the great content and positive attitude towards this situation. I’m still 4 months out before being fully recovered but I take it day by day and this video encouraged me to keep my head up through it all.
Always impressed with your bravery. Especially after the crash. I would have been in tears. So glad you weren’t permanently injured and I hope you have a speedy recovery.
Oh my, Yuka. I'm so glad you're alright... I love seeing you in your husband's videos, and when I saw his community post, I was terrified, but thankful you're alive and mostly well. I really hope your healing goes smoothly and swiftly. Don't beat yourself up too much, you made mistakes, but that's okay we all do 💛💛 you'll be back riding in no time 🙂
I'm amazed at how calm both of you were. I would have been freaking out- either in your shoes or in Eric's. So happy for you that this wasn't more serious. Hope you're able to heal up quickly.
Sorry to hear about the crash Yuka, glad that you're alright, hoping for a fast and complete recovery!
OMG, I am so glad you fared as well as you did!!! Prayers for quick healing!
I don't usually watch injury videos, by you did an excellent job explaining the risks and opportunities to minimize them, making it a learning video. Thanks and feel better. I've been there as a former road racer.
New subscriber but this gave me a flashback to two weeks ago where I went over my bars. I'm far too old to be flying headfirst into a patch of stingers at 20mph but I got away with it... again (I crashed heavily in the snow and ice three winters ago and escaped with just a piece of my tongue missing).
You're a brave person and so calm at the accident site. But most of all, you're amazing for getting back on the bike.
This is a great video for you to put up. Thank you for making it! It will probably save many people from getting injured. Really great advice you give. You had progressed with your riding skills so far. The great thing about MTB riding is we don't have to jump to still have a lot of fun. Awesome to see you back riding now!
Thanks for sharing Yuka! That sucks, but it could have been worse. Such a great reminder of how important it is to know what's beyond the feature. Good luck in your recovery.
Take good care Yuka. Speedy recovery.
OMG. Wishing you a good and speedy recover.
Here's to a speedy recovery! Wishing you and Eric all the best.
I'm happy to see all of the loving supportive comments here, that's one of the reasons I love mountain biking, people love and support each other, we need more of that, now more than ever ❤🙏🏽
Been watching your videos here and there and as a fellow rider sending all the quick healing energy your way. That could have been so much worse. The fact that you can recognize the mistakes you made is already a big step in regaining your confidence. It will take some time but eventually it all comes back. On the lighter side ... holy hell did you ever go full send! I don't think I have ever seen anyone ever overcook a step up to that extent! In the most positive way possible I am impressed !!
Not to mention you must be tough as hell to decide your gonna even try standing up with a broken coccyx !
Terrible crash. Glad you came through ok! Appreciate your thoughtful analysis of what wrong. Useful lessons for everyone.
Thank you for reminding me to be safe when I ride and to take care not to ride above my level or underestimate what I’m riding on. I’m very grateful that you weren’t hurt worse - that was a heck of a crash! I wish you a speedy and full, permanent recovery, including your mind so that you can get back out there and enjoying your bike again just like before but even more skillful. You’re a tough cookie!
very informative, wishing you a quick recovery!
I’m so sorry to hear of your crash Yuka! Please recover quickly!
OMG Yuka! How scary. I got a little teary eyed watching as you just laid there. Sending prayers/positive vibes for a speedy and complete recovery.
I like to share happy moments but bad things could happen...Thank you for your wishes
My wife and I watched this video and we were shock and afraid for you. Her first reaction was yelling "痛い" . Thank god you are ok. Have a speedy recovery and take it easy. We look forward on your next video hopefully on some update.
I’m so glad your injuries were not worse, and thank you for sharing Yuka. I hope you’re feeling better now.
I have followed you guys for years! I'm so revealed you got through this without more serious injuries, thanks for the thorough debrief on ways you could have avoided this fatel
Wow Yuka, that was a tough watch.I've never met you guys or ever will, but that was like seeing a good friend have a huge one! I hope you are healing well and haven't lost too much of your confidence and can do attitude.all the best to you both.
Damn hope you feel better!
Thank you for posting this. I think it is important to be realistic about the risks involved. I'm glad your protective gear worked and I wish you a speedy recovery!
Yuka, you’re my favorite! 🤩 So sorry your season ended early. 😢 I hope you recover quickly. And I hope your mom didn’t get too mad at you.
Get better Soon YUKA!! Solid message at the end.. part of progression is pushing your limit but the other part is knowing where that limit is and managing expectations.. nothing annoys me more than feeling like I need to be faster or better on a ride.. We riders need to be more content with where we are at and how far we have come!
glad you are ok!
hate to say it, but it was coming from far away. don't want to be a dick, but you need to get good coaching lessons, as you lack some basic proper technique to start with. I mean... you can't do a proper bunnyhop + pumping - this basically closes lots of the gates for technical jumps
in some spots you weren't able to clear the jumps only because of that. Also, proper technique makes you more comfortable and safe.
I need more/less speed can't be an answer for everything. You can clearly see some features here are hard for you even not mentioning they are not that big at all.
best wishes to you both and have a speedy recovery :)
P.S.: protection can't also be an answer for everything, you will just get to bigger jumps with poor technique and protection might not save you there.
oh yuka, im sorry this happened. Im so impressed for your confident! praying for your recovery as well. cheers!
Your a beast!!! I hope your recovery was quick! And be safe in your future rides!
mad respect for Yuka
An extra Hole in your Butt, sory butt i have to laught. good recovery for you!
Wishing you a speedy recovery! That was quite an overshoot! First time commenting, really enjoy your videos ! 🙂👍
So scary! I hope the recovery will be fast, keep your good mood!
My gosh! I'm glad you're OK, and I'm amazed how calm you and your husband were after the crash.
Please be safe. You're an inspiration to all riders!
Thanks for sharing this, it is really of a big value to see such detailed video about the crash day.
So scary and glad your injuries are ones that will heal. Your retrospective will probably cause a lot of us to re-examine before going too big too soon (or at least have us tap the brakes a bit more). That said, with the amount of followers you have, think of how many future crashes you are saving for a bunch of people through this video! Good luck with the recovery!
Oh no Yuka! I watch your videos from time to time and I'm quite stoked by your steady progression. This is the first time I'm commenting - your crash was horrible! But you stay so calm and analytical about it. It's a fast sport and when things go sideways it tends to hurt!
All the best to you - hope you get back on your bike soon!
I'm glad you're still alive! I hope your recovery will go well : )
Awe, I feel so bad for you! Glad that it looks like you are going to heal just fine. Great attitude through it all.
Aouch glad you're ok! Wishing a speedy recovery
Sorry this happened Yuka but thank you for sharing. I hope you have a speedy recovery!
I hope your recovery goes really well and you heal up soon. Don't rush it though. Take it easy on yourself for the next little while. Make sure Eric pampers you and treats you like a princess. You are a very inspirational rider and thank you both for sharing your journeys with us. Get well soon Yuka.
Get well soon Yuka. With your positive attitude you'll get back on the saddle physically and mentally in your own good times. Speaking personnally from my experience, injuries never stop me from mountain biking. Its the 'annoyance' of injuries and recovery that really give me the itch. Great time to reflect too on my riding skills etc2. You'll end up better and wiser mountainbiker afterward. We'll be cheering you on Yuka, GAMBATTTE! ✊🏾😀
You are my new hero 👊🏻. Wishing you a speedy recovery 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing this horrible event. You are very tough. Bless you both.
Best wishes for fast healing. Thank you for sharing a difficult time in your life. Stay awesome!
That was so hard to watch. Sending you lots of love and wishing you a speedy recovery. 💝💝
wow, scary crash! thanks for sharing and bes wishes for a full recovery!
Poor Yuka!! 🫣 Best wishes for a speedy recovery. All the best.
