I dont think its so surprising that a few people would have these and just not know what they have and that people want to see it! Id be suprised if there is any software, more than a diag tool.
I used to buy gamesmaster magazines back in the ealry 90's, im pretty sure there was pictures of this and the snes/phillips version. Just wanna see it running!

I got to actually play it when the original owner brought it to MO Game Con pre pandemic.
nintendo couldn't agree to the terms of the deal sony gave them. iirc they wanted ridiculous royalties on every game sold, and they wanted copyright on all games produced for the system. It was an insulting offer, the nintendo playstation was never meant to be

That's strange. No part of the device says Nintendo, not even the lower part of the device that has the controllers attached. This appears to be a complete standalone unit, not the addon for the SNES that it claims to be. Even the SNES style controller says Sony Playstation on it. This is not a prototype of the SNES addon in question. This is a prototype of the standalone Sony Playstation console, that was developed AFTER Sony and Nintendo parted ways.
BankaiIchigo12345 FYI...If you go to dizzle521 on CZcams and watch his 1:42 video you will see that it says Nintendo on the back of the controller and cartridge. Subscribe and follow his updates because this will not be the last that you hear about this.
We never claimed this to be an addon. The back of the controller and the cartridge say Nintendo on them. Also this was a collaboration between Sony and Nintendo before they parted ways.

Except from what I've read about it, the Sony Playstation was originally planned to be an addon for the SNES, so if this is in fact the original Playstation prototype, it would be an addon, not a console itself. And also, if it was originally a joint venture between Nintendo and Sony (as I've read that it was in a game magazine discussing the history of old gaming consoles), then by law both companies would have to have their logo on the product. The fact that this says only Sony on it, suggests it is a fake. Somebody obviously took an actual Sony music CD player, and modified the case to look like a console, complete with a fake cartridge slot to put a cartridge, and fake controller ports.
@@BankaiIchigo12345 Prototypes don't have any sort of laws regarding logos and even then you're vastly oversimplifying things. There are plenty of people putting work into verifying this thing, look into it.

Brad commented on how the Sega Genesis add-ons made the Genesis' processing more powerful, and rhetorically asked what the Playstation add-on could have done to make the Super Nintendo more powerful, and Drew said "Mode _8_ graphics!" as a joke, because that's better than the Mode 7 graphics the Super Nintendo used by default.
