Can the almighty Rimac Nevera take down two of the fastest motorbikes on the planet? Well, it’s time to find out!
We’ve got Mat in the Rimac, and he’s lining up against MotoGP legend Dani Pedrosa on the Red Bull KTM and a supercharged Suzuki Hayabusa!
So let’s see how the three stack up. Starting with the Rimac, it’s packing four electric motors, and they combine to produce 1,914hp and 2,360Nm of torque! It’s also housing a 120kWh battery, so naturally, it’s pretty heavy, weighing in at 2,300kg. It’s also super expensive, coming in at around £2,000,000!
Alongside Mat, we have the MotoGP bike. It’s powered by a 1,000cc engine that can produce 270hp and 120Nm, and of course, it is SO much lighter than the Rimac, weighing just 157kg!
Then finally we have the Hayabusa. But this is no usual Suzuki Hayabusa! It’s had a supercharger fitted to it, and as a result, its 1.3-litre 4-cylinder engine produces 380hp and 340Nm of torque! This bike is equally light, tipping the scales at just 257kg.
So how will this one play out - will the Rimac snatch the win? Or could one of the bikes claim the chequered flag? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

It is but Dani isn't your average MotoGP rider of course so it's not a complete shock. The man is one of the most experienced and talented ever in the sport so I'd expect nothing less.

Anything that finishes 1/4 mile in less than 10 sec is crazy, so Chris did a good job.

I once owned a Turbo Hayabusa with 301hp/282Nm and the previous owner drove it for a quarter of a mile and got low 9-second times. As I recall, 9.2s.
The rear fork was extended a little (a few centimeters).
At least this driver in the video hadn't practiced very much.
@@klaojajuYou write it yourself. The previous owner. So a vehicle he knows. Chris has to do this with a vehicle that isn't his just for a video. In addition in the case of drag races it is necessary to consider the ground asphalt vs concrete, texture etc.

Dani Pedrosa's launch is bonkers. Every single time he races, he just smokes the launch and perfect gear change. It's flawless. Artistic to the core.
A true MotoGP legend he is.
After 5 years of retirement, he managed to finish 4th place on Sprint and main race at Spanish GP wild card. So fantastic, he outclassed active younger riders on the grid😅
He's no Rossi or Marquez but he's a pretty damn good rider nonetheless.

Dani is like a terminator at this point. After a career in Moto GP the drivers are full of screws, plaques and other permanent fixations.
There's just not enough traction to the rear. The rear tire on that superbusa is too thin for all that power. Grippy MotoGP slicks would do wonders for it.@@Angel-wo8gv

@@m135i. setup, hmm I ain't think so. If it was it wouldn't wobble like that or create a lot of wheel spin. They just brought it there & put in the box with minimal speed in the configuration for sure. Of course they wouldn't mapped it out to it's full power & torque just for this show. This is not competition, they are just there to make some reference & show that the production cars today are getting quicker.

rimac reached 223 mph but still couldn't catch the gp bike in high speed wind
Moto gp can go into corners and accelerate that much faster
main issue is the traction and wheelie even in rolling race he was wheeling

Honestly it's not much different to above say 180kph. Just a narrowing of focus into the tunnel. Can't do it in fear though. Like anything just built up skill and confidence.

This was crazy scary and super exciting to watch at the same time. Hats off to Danny and Chris for their heroic skills.
Dani is absolutely insane! Such a crazy skilled driver, you can see his front tire lift slightly off the ground multiple times. He’s literally pushing his vehicle to the limit of power and traction for this straight away race
I thought Busa was slow, but did it in 9.6 seconds. Not to mention, everyone was doing 330kmph+. The engineering behind that motogp bike must be insane.
Homeboy was half broken trying to control something that is basically 1.5 hp per kg. It was insane for him to even be on it in his condition, and here he is trying to race some of the fastest in the world with a two wheeled slip n slide.
That Busa is slow. Most liter bikes can do low 9's. The problem is too much power. It's not usable.
9.6 is about what a 600 can do. Dragspec busa with the right rider will run low 7's.

Dani Pedrosa is a Moto GP legend. His bike had a weight advantage but the all-wheel drive of the car is hard to beat in a drag race. I would have liked to see the Hayabusa with a drag tire on it. The Busa has way too much power for a street tire, I could hear him hitting the rev limiter when the tire would break loose. I love Dani's comment about he couldn't ride the other bike because it's a Suzuki.

I think it's the other way around. The fact that a bike can essentially keep up with the fastest 4 wheel machine in the world haha. And the Rimac can be bought by a fairly regular person!

Dani Pedrosa is an insane John Wayne. Really miss seeing him race in MotoGP. He's still at most events, however as a test rider for KTM.

@@juneaoalfred3704 A bike designed for twisty tracks is faster than a 2000hp electric road legal drag racer. The bike can turn and brake and have that straight line speed at the same time. The MotoGP bike is faster in a straight line and would leave the rimac in the dust on a track.

He is very skillful, but the GP bikes have special launch control, holeshot devices, and front suspension control to make the launches even more mental. Dani is a legend though.

Crazy to think the h2r (one of the fastest bikes ever made) with 300+ hp does a 9.9s quarter mile, and then the motogp bike does it in 8.6s. The difference is insane
The fastest stock production bike quarter mile was a 2012 ZX14R, doing 9.47 seconds @ 152mph.
With slicks on and a good rider, a lot of production bikes can get into the 8's without any power added. As long as you're on a stock swingarm, your quarter mile time is limited by simple physics generally.
Dani looks like he's HAVING FUN! He was always so stoic & serious when in MotoGP...He never smiled.

My cousin has a 918 weissache and we went out on Laguna Seca with it. Him and his buddies rent the track for a few days each year. Fastest car I have been in but it feels so stable and low to the ground it doesn't feel fast on the track even though it obviously is.
@@jay07272 Dani's mindset right now isn't same when he was GP rider. He is just want to test bikes for a job while having fun to get few a races under his belt in both MotoGP & Lamboghini Super Torffeo Cup which he is a guest driver.

One of the few episodes where I'm actually suprised. Would've never expected that the MotoGP bike can keep up. That bike was never built with the intention of drag racing - while the Rimac is more tailored towards straight line performance than towards "actual racing". Insanely impressive that bike (and rider)
Exactly, if you just know there is still a lot of juice to put out if KTM would mapped it out to it's full power & torque. But they wouldn't do that just for a show. After all it's for cars not for bikes. They are just being there to give us reference. Not to win it all because this isn't a Gp.
Dani was really glad to experience driving that Nevera. It would be interesting to see him in the show more often. He can join Matt, Yanni & Sam everytime they have multiple car to test. ☝️
Go amd watch the KTM starts in recent MotoGP. Except the last race un Austria where Ducati improved their launching. Both KTM and Dukes are rockets in MotoGP.
That bike is just insane it's shocking
it's still made to accelerate as fast as possible out of a corner and also launch well at the beginning of the races, with zero consideration for comfort unlike the rimac.
Moto GP make don't make a lot of compromises about acceleration. of course a Moto GP made for drag racing would be lower and longer!

Not all mechanical engineers can ride the machine at the same time..But it's different with 26.. Engineer, researches and rides at the same time..Dani is extraordinary

Unbelievable! The MotoGP Bike vs. Rimac Nevera vs. Turbo Hayabusa drag race was a jaw-dropping spectacle. Witnessing these incredible machines go head-to-head was an adrenaline rush like no other. Simply electrifying!

Dani is an absolute legend. Can't think of many better riders from his era who didn't win a world title. A couple of really big crashes derailed him at crucial times but he was as quick as anyone on his day.

The ‘Busa was actually disappointing. Turbo ‘Busa drag bikes with street legal tires can routinely run the 1/4 mile in the 7’s. The cold, unprepped asphalt surface was the culprit. The ‘Busa also needs a swingarm extension.

Nothing compared to what some people run. Street bikes do an a 8.2 quarter with just an extended swingarm and ecu flash 😂 then you have chris more running a 6.3 at 233mph on his turbo gsxr. Would make the rimac look like its going backwards lol

@@sancho2112 no. There is guys in the US who have 220bhp bikes with extended swingarms running 8.2 on the highway using a vbox. I have a 1998 zx9r with 136whp and 9 inch extension that ran a 9.2 at santa pod and 9.4 on an A12 sliproad 🤣 you take the wheelies out so you can pin it from the start and you need something very very fast to keep up. Normal supercars wont cut it

I don’t think anybody with a half functioning brain questioned how insanely quick super bikes are. To put it in perspective this is the fastest production car atm and both bikes went toe to toe, absolutely bonkers.
That’s a standard road car. No mods. DESTROYING in 1/4 .. and 1/2 miles .. 8.5 vs RACE bike 8.6 and 9.6 modded 1,000 hya… 8.5 on unprepped by a CAR standard
The busa powe is too much to control. Dani has great skills to launch that bike
