I don't know how you do this... but every time i am considering buying a console, you release a video on that console the same day! you must be telepathic! great job on the vid as always!

"And that's plenty, more than you deserve to be honest". 😂😂 This dude is a comedian at heart.
Your thoughtfulness in selecting products for review, and consistent and compelling brand identity earn you a sub from the very first video of yours I saw. Your ability to present this information in a fun and unique way keeps me coming back. Keep it up, there’s no one out there doing it quite like you, and the world needs more proud dweebs.
You just put a big old smile on my dweeby face 🤓
@@TechDweebGood afternoon ! Can you check how several games work on this console?
*game for PGM: Demon Front
* 2 Sega Dreamcast games: Dolphin Blue and Metal Slug 6?
Merry Christmas TechDweeb! Thank you for EVERYTHING my good friend! You share the most genuine and warm vibes and that happening in a world which is so cold and obnoxious... It makes it all worth it 😊
Haha thanks buddy, and Merry Christmas to you too! I'm excited for the fun videos I'll be making this year :D
Finally a worthy review for this device. I got it for 64 USD with the 64 GB card, terrific purchase, it's a steal.
wow 64 usd is a steal
i just get it for 48 usd

I just received one of these. Cyber Monday sale, total £57.60. Needs some OS improvements, but is best performance to price ratio I've ever had. VERY crisp screen and comfortable to hold. Only issue for me, buttons are small and hard.
I wonder if you could get Bazzite/SteamOS on it for a better operating system.
This channel always cheers me up about stuff i dont need and buy anyway.
your story-telling skills leave me in tears 😂😂😂poor squirells 🤣
I like the Christmas vacation clips.
Fantastic video, and review, thanks.
I've already seen a ton of other videos about it but there's just something about your videos that I really like that makes me come running to see, dweeb. Keep it up 👍
Between this review and the review on Joey's Retro Handhelds, I was convinced that I could benefit from a TrimUI Smart Pro. The price is good (I ended up buying it with the 64GB preloaded micro SD), and holy crap; you weren't joking about the 720P display! Dreamcast handles okay, but it really shines with the arcade games. I did a test run on SFIII: New Generation, and aside from one glitchy stage, it held up well. Then I dug up an arcade cult favorite: Martial Masters. Now THAT plays well on the Smart Pro! NES handles iffy, but the Gameboy games are a bit more precise. I'll be sticking with my Miyoo Mini Plus for most of my retro gaming, but the TrimUI Smart Pro will be my go-to for some big arcade action.
im convinced ! thank you TD
Hope all is well with you bud, happy holidays and all that jazz, thanks for the good fun!
Thanks buddy! You too!
received mine last week for only around 60€ (black friday) and it is just awesome for the price!! maybe the dpad too small but nice and I love the screen to play GBA in full ratio. The quality of the packaging is great and the handheld is lovely. It is great it comes with the UI from Trimui and I hope they keep upgrading to fit more games (TGCD) and enhance the quality! love it ❤ nice to see it in your channel!
Agreed!
FYI, there is a custom OS called TomatOS that adds more systems. Check it out, TGCD might be on there ;)
Sup Jordi i saw you at the bus station
TrimUI Smart is amazing! Great info as always!
haha great Review and love the christmas vacation bits my favorite christmas movie.
I ordered the rg353v based on your review I’m still waiting for it. I think you got a clear answer to what I needed
353v is a rock star. You'll love it.
How is it?
They did a great job on this one and it especially looks radicool in that DMG inspired colorway 🔥
If my heart wasnt already set on the retroid 4 pro, i would must definitely get this. Thanks for the review, i never heard of this handheld until your video popped up. Very cool device for the money
I also want a retroid 4. This thing is mega tempting tho for sure!. But I love retroids products.
What about just a Bluetooth controller for your smartphone instead ? 🙃
wait wait wait, they have Amazon affiliate links for purchases on ANY product and you get a cut? That's freaking awesome, why aren't more creators doing that??
Just ordered mine! It's a great deal! Can't wait to play my PSP games again! 🎉
watched this video when you first posted it and jumped on this! I bought the 256GB model and I love it! thanks again the giving us a sweet deal!
Nice! Enjoy!
This one looks perfect for me! TY TechDweeb!
That makes exactly two of us that love this thing!
✊🍁
Looks like a good replacement for my old GPD XD. If they're smart, they'll use the setup they have here as a platform for future models with incremental upgrades to the same form factor.
Can never go wrong with Christmas Vacation !
This became my favorite daily driver because of the ergonomics and MinUI support. I'd only ever consider it on sale but for the price it's surprisingly well built.
You installed MinUI on this? How is the experience?
@@melvinsin641It's awesome if you prefer something more simple with a cleaner aesthetic, MinUI is all about ease of use and I'd give it a shot if you haven't before. Just know that it doesn't have analog stick support and has fewer supported emulators than stock OS.
just came in the mail today, thanks man.
I needed this video about a week ago when I bought a retroid pocket 3 😆
If there's anything to say about the tiny version, would love a video on that. Maybe as a part of some kinda "tiny gaming special"?
I painted it orange for a reason. Vid coming (eventually) 😉
@@TechDweebI can't wait! 🤩
The Trimui Brick is the one I've been waiting on!
I got one. I like it - and just now I came up with a new mod for the triggers. Better than my first mod (that shortened their travel). This new mod adds softer trigger buttons to the back of the device.
How did you customize/ mod the triggers? Please explain. How does it feel to now?
My first attempt simply minimized their travel (but didn't make them less firm): czcams.com/video/bcFX7wcXK2I/video.html
@@dadou193 My second attempt works the best for me - back buttons circumventing much of the bad trigger mechanism: czcams.com/play/PL7Eo_0lOcMd1zxq9wLJwHrbwFSBi5F6Rx.html
Please do a file swap video and how to update! Visual learner here! Thanks love the videos!
I think the main reason this one isn't doing incredible is just because everybody who wanted a handheld in this size and form factor already has an rp3 or rp3+, this one rly only makes sense for people who don't have a widescreen retro handheld already
Yeah probably. Too little too late
I'm thinking of getting my first handheld, I was leaning towards the retro pro until I saw this vid...
its trending now. this aged bad haha A lot of people are picking and prefering it over the 35xxx H
Bro, we all know you and your channel is the sleeper hit!
Oh stop you're making me blush
I order for me for the holiday. And like that it comes with games especially Pokemon.
it seems like a great gift device to give to others 😮
Definitely
I was a bit disapointed with the lack of joystick buttons, triggers and joystick itself, but it is in no way unusable. The larger screen easily displaced my RG35XX H, I gave it away to my brother-in-law. I am very happy with the Trimui Smart Pro.
That looks so nice, what N64 games does it have? I'm mainly wanting the big first party Nintendo and Rareware games, and Top Gear Rally.
Ive honestly been now colllecting these things. And ordered more from aliexpress lol. Because cost effective. I do have a odin 2 so i can play whatever. But my kids are starting to love these older games. Espeically my youngest hes 3 starting him early on the old stuff. I might now pick one up.
Just recently got mine shipped from AliExpress for US$61.11 with a case and screen protector included
Pity it can't play the Saturn well, but been looking forward to a larger screen upgrade from my Pocket Go V2 for a while now, and this one fit the bill
Looking forward to add my Dreamcast library onto it when it arrives 👍
I've always wanted a retro emulation handheld with a rectangle that does nothing on it. I'm sold
Recently found your page. Love that a fellow Canadian is reviewing all of these emulators. If you can, add Canadian prices. Every review has American prices, convert that shit.
Only like 4% of my viewers are Canadian. I have more UK residents, it would make more sense to convert to GBP before CAD! The internet speaks in USD, so that's why I do it.
@@TechDweeb and your US fans appreciate you for it!
Incredible content!
😊
The wider screen is the kicker for me. Other handhelds in the pirce range have beautiful shells, but screens way too small for good psp emulation!
I want that Orange Trimui Smart!!!
I love me some Devil's Crush too! And you play the best version of it 😅
One of my all-time favs!
Hi sir , would you still recommend the trimui smart pro sinds you reviewed it ? Thx and greetings from Belgium
New subscriber from the phil 🇵🇭
That cookies joke tickled me.
I've noticed people get a bit irrational about unused screen real estate. Even if playing 4:3 games on this results in a bigger and clearer active picture area than on virtually any 4:3 device in its class, they seem to focus on the parts of the screen left black and use that to claim this is "bad for 4:3 games"
You can also tell the difference in screen quality on this vs the 3.5" and 4" screens in things like the RG-Arc and RG-353 series, it's clear even in youtube vids that those have poorer contrast and color brilliance
Hi there. Does it play n64 Killer Instinct Gold??? And if does how did you do the setup for it to play?? Please let me know thank you for your time.
this handheld is similarly priced against rg35xx plus. which one is better? perhaps you can cover in the next video. TQ
Would you still recommend this, or would you prefer something else? Thank you for the review
If you had to choose between Trimui smart pro or Powkiddy x55 which at roughly the same price which would you choose? Is either more polished or better to use right out of the box?
Hi TechDweeb, how would you rate the Sega Saturn emulation performance on this device?
Drove to the Retro Handheld Emulation Store, lmao. I wish I could do that
Yep i absolutely love mine as well!! I also got the retro gray color scheme its fuckin gorgeous!
❤love u review . May i ask if compare with M17 dpad i a fighting game fan i want a hand held with good control thak you
This Handheld is like if the PS Vita and GBA SP had a baby. 😍
Contemplating this or the Rg Arc-D! mainly just want to play up to a little bit of the arcadey dreamcast games and don't play much PSP. Any recommendations y'all?
No hdmi, no Bluetooth. Important for me so I got the rg35xx plus instead. Love to play the old consoles on the big screen...
which adapter do you use to charge it? is a 5v 1.5a really important?
Was that the pico8 Celeste near the end or the gba port? I found the gba port and have played it a bit on my analogue pocket but the screen is all tiny which makes it hard to play on that device.
It's labeled in the video itself. Pico-8. Likely Fake-8 on RetroArch.
Is it better than the Powkitty x55? Need to decide which one to get
I have the miyo mini and have been looking for something in this form factor to play Nintendo DS games.
0:48 nice face reveal video ever.
Future Update: The newest firmware gives it Bluetooth & Bluetooth Audio Capabilites
I've installed the new update much recommended!
I just got this for $45, no brainer
Hi, firmware 1.0.4 is out (with vulkan support), can we expect an updated review + setup guide?
I slept on this handheld and now my back has such a crick in it! 😅 But at least I have one! Tucked soundly in my bed. 😊
Does it come with games if so how many games? Thank you.
🙋🏽♂️ I have a question! So the unit I bought off Amazon didn't come with an sd card or roms on it, but I have a SD card and roms how do I go about setting everything up. I looked online but there's no tutorials. 😮💨 Pls help 😂
11:19 I've honestly been wanting something dedicated to psp emulation and to see even god of war runs good on it gives me some confidence in this device. I'm still torn though between this and the recently announced Retroid pocket 4 and 4 pro.
If you're a torn then probably hold off and wait for the rp4 reviews to come out.
@@TechDweeb of course yeah
I can tell you right away, get the RP4, it will wipe and kick trimuis ass no question about it, if you do get trimui its for the style points and yeah this device is super stylish but if you want performance no doubt get the next RP handheld....
TrimUI Smart Pro or RP2s? Btw, I can’t wait for the community to catch up with this device. Once they tweak the software and rom organization, this is a winner!
Depends on what you want to play. Do you want a PS1 and below Handheld that can do some PSP, N64, Dreamcast, and Saturn Emulation with Rumble and Retro Achievements? Buy a Trimui Smart Pro. If you want a Sega Saturn and below Handheld that can do some GameCube and PS2 Emulation buy a Retroid Pocket 2S.
the high quality sound? why some say, its the worst sound? :D i get my today anyway ^^ thx 4 the great reviews!
Compared to rg353p, which one is better?
Is it normal for the back of the console to get warm after playing for a while?
This vs X55? Looks fairly similar, incl. Performance. Already ordered X55 as I got it for $79 which seemed super fair for what you get.
X55 is more powerful. If you got it for the same price that's probably the better choice.
how did you managed to make pico8 work on this? cant seem to wrap my head around pico8 emulation on this thing. Also I think you're running on a old version of the firmware. I think they have a new one 1.0.2. I love playing GBA and NDS on this one. GBA from hacks is best played on this screen.
I love that the market is finally saturated with emulation handhelds.
Also curious as to why you have near flawless PSP performance (for example God of War 11:03) but a few other reviewers on CZcams apparently had issues with PSP. Did you have custom settings? Any idea why? Did they keep the toggle on power saving?
Anyone else here can comment about psp performance?
The performance wasn't perfect, it was playable but definitely not running at full speed, I had frame skip enabled in that clip, 1x resolution. Most other PSP will run fine at 2x resolution though.
How did you get Pico-8 to work? I can't figure it out. I own a license and have the Raspberry Pi files downloaded and tried putting them in both the Pico-8 Roms folder and in the Apps folder, but I can't get it to launch. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Sorry, meant Emus folder, not Apps folder.
Random questions, but since these are on an emulator, getting the Pokémon that you gotta trade to evolve would be impossible?
Yes. You cannot evolve pokemon that require trading to evolve. Those pokemon are lost to time. Although you can use a file and game editor so that these pokemon evolve at a level rather than trading.
What's the story with custom firmware? It's being developed and definitely coming or not? (Is it even needed or okay without it?)
There are 2 custom firmwares already. MinUI is great, but it doesn't support higher end systems like dreamcast, psp, etc. And TomatOS, which I think is the same as the stock firmware, except it adds extra emulators.
How would you compare this to the 2s and 3 plus.
This is like a poor man's RP3+, similar in shape and size, not as powerful, but still good. Compared to the 2s I'd probably go for the 2s because it can do so much more, however it is more expensive so it's a tradeoff.
@TechDweeb I love the d pad on the arc d, the controls on the 2s, the power of the 3 plus, and the screen of the rgb30. Getting the metal housing for the 3 plus I thought about but didn't seem to fix the other issues I had. But what a great variety group of systems we got this year. I like the ps2 layout for cemetrical reasons and what I'm used too so some of my options become limited for that reason alone. A poor man's 3 plus seems about right for the discription.
I wanna get this for my father. He loves old nes games. His fave game is rush n attack. Do you know if that’s in there?
Just checked for ya. Yup! Works great too :)
@@TechDweeb thank you!
@TechDweeb Can you watch movies / netflix on this device?
Its nice, but it needs a pro version. The performance not being quite there on all systems would be a bit frustrating.
This is already a Pro. What you need is Ultimate. ;-)
TrimUI Smart Pro Pro +
Does anyone know how to go from the game back to the initial home screen without power cycling?
I think I figured it out. So far, I've been using the B button on the game selection menu.
Uh-oh, your video got me thinking - did I goof by choosing the Miyoo Mini Plus over the Trimui Smart Pro? 😕
Nah, both are amazing. They've very different. One is a little guy, small enough to live in your pocket, perfect for older retro systems. The other is a big boy, big enough for PSP etc. Different devices for different purposes!
So different. I've ordered a X55 and will be ordering a RG35xx for the pocketability once it comes back to the black Friday pricing the other week. I think having a vertical and horizontal handheld is perfect to cover most retro systems.
Should I get this or the rg35xx H?
Is there a grip for this
I wish it was 5ghz wifi, it would be perfect for streaming games from the PC, kinda hard to get everything we want in this price range tho
What handheld plays Dreamcast, n64, arcades, old systems well? Doesn’t have to reach ps2 or GameCube, just Dreamcast and behind that. 🙏🏼 also handheld with analog controls 🙏🏼
The rp2s would be my choice for that.
@@TechDweeb thanks! Just saw ur video of it & the retro pocket 3+ and prolly gonna pick 1 of those. Also, great videos
how long does the battery lasts on this thing?
This will be my little for lite fun then I’m getting the retrobeast 4TB hard drive for my Asus Rog ally.
Solid combo
Software quality looks good especially for under 100$ decice
same comment i put on your XU10 video
Anbernic ARC-S:
has better CPU
ok, smaller screen, but better ratio
almost the same price
has HDMI output (very important for me)
has awesome 6 button configuration
has wifi and BT
ok, it has no fake/switchy analog controller, but do you really need it for the games that these devices can handel?
or just go for POWKIDDY RGB30
all above, plus analog controller, and 720p screen!
you're gonna buy two mSD cards for 30$, and shipping and tax ... then the price difference doesn't seem so much any more
