    I contacted another business owner locally and let him know i was just starting off and needed help figuring out how to price these jobs. He gave me alot of good info and so far ive done well in this business because of it.

    Totally agree on the quoting ratio, you have to be prepared to know you wont win some bids so don't underprice yourself and your company. I roughly use linear ft to determine a rough base cost but add all sorts of differing factors into my prices making sure to add value and make sure my line striping is professional, high quality and striving to be better each and every job to bring us up a few levels above our competetion.

    As it relates to pricing, I weould imagine there is a difference between restriping and designing a striping project from scratch....? BTW, I have a Softwashing business, and I am considering adding this as a service. How much prep is involved in getting the surface cleaned. What are the types of paints being used and what are the pros and cons of each? Water based vs Oil vs price. PS we get the same questions over in the pressure washing forumns from guys just starting out. It can get annoying because it is the same questions over and over, but I try to not let it bother me because everyone starts from the same place, which is zero. I am considering making the transition because of lower back issues I am having and the use of harsh chemicals associated with softwashing.

    Is it a good idea to submit a pricing sheet to give contractors for sub contract work

    • @stripeitlikeitshot
      @stripeitlikeitshot  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Great question! I don't think that is a wise idea for parking lots, no. No two jobs are the same. If you work with a contractor multiple times, they will begin to understand where your pricing is based on the size of the job. I think the idea is in the right spirit, because it is trying to make the life easier for the contractor. However, simply building a relationship and asking good questions about their previous experience with subcontractors will better put you in a position to bring value to them and give you opportunities for recurring work.

      Start as a side hustle. When the income starts to get at or more than your full time job, then it is time to think about quitting the job.

      If you're winning every bid, you're priced to low, increase the prices to get more per hour of your labor. Eventually, you'll make twice as much for 1/2 the work.
