I worked for McD's for 25 years. Locations built in the 70s and prior had basements. That's where all the paper stock, an extra cooler, janitorial supplies and crew break room were located.
I’m in Nova Scotia, and the main location in my hometown has a basement. I distinctly remember them taking us down there on a tour of the store while attending a Birthday party as a child. If you’re into podcasts and true crime, I would suggest you check out the Nighttime Podcast, they have a two or three part episode going into probably one of my province’s greatest tragedies, the murder of three McDonalds employees and permanent injuries to a fourth. I was around 11-12 at the time. McDonalds has creeped me out ever since.
Used to take my oldest to the McD's. We'd play in the PlayPlace until his dad came down from Akron to visit with him. i lived around the corner and it was on the way home from school so we'd often do drive thru for a quick meal for the evening.
I'm glad it's not Abandoned anymore. The build is saved (from anymore of decaying ). At least is being used now. I wonder whats going to look like now when it's fully finished o.o
I worked for mcdonalds for 20 years and my store had a basement.. our break room was down there also a lot of mass storage a lot of this tanks for CO2 and other supplies were down there also when the Beanie Baby craze was going on we kept them under lock and key in the basement
Those hotels up there used to do a lot of corporate and convention business, especially during hall of fame week. They kept me busy when I was delivering back in the day. The McDonalds was owned by a guy that owned a lot of them in the area. He went through a nasty divorce at one point and had to split them off - half to his wife. I think that was one that went to his wife.
There was a McDonalds near our house that I would take my children to when they were young. The bathrooms were in a basement, and had to go down a long flight of steps to get there.
I honestly think they only close a McDonald's if its being held up all the time. That's what happened to the McDonald's where I grew up. It got robbed at gun point almost once a week & they closed it. In fact, it was left abandoned for years & it was the first abandoned place I ever explored.
yep basements existed. one time a guy i know that worked at one he said they would go down there to drink booze and try not to get caught while working. they only did this on break time
I am an employee of McDonald’s and I don’t know we still make that cement garbage can. I couldn’t tell you because I haven’t seen a McDonald’s built from the ground up yet. But I do think we still have those garbage cans at our stores because they would stand the weather outside. It’s easier to have a cement garbage can I don’t want all smashed up outside in the weather and have a metal one and get rusty and old
Funny thing is, just as this mc d's location is being 'repurposed', the old mc d's I went to as a kid is still going strong. I remember my folks bought me two burgers, fries and a drink...under $1.00 for the whole deal! neat-o!
Wow! I used to eat at that Mc. Donald's regularly when I lived in North Canton. I totally remember the good times there! :)
Nice was it cool
Nice! When it becomes an dentist office maybe one patient will get fitted for a set of McDentures! 😂😂😂

This was cool. Probably a 70s model with basement. Than roofline and playplace added and brick repainted in the late 80s early 90s.
You mentioned a hotel...the Comfort Inn? It started as. Sigmature Inn & changed over in 93. Been to this McD's once or twice. Love the area.
I never knew McDonald's had basements until I worked at one in Clear Lake, Iowa which had one where supplies were stored as cups & ect.

There are not many abandoned McDonald's out there. Most of the old stores down here are demolished and replaced on the same site with a new location.
I've eaten at the Denny's next door, you can still tell it was a fast food restaurant
