I love this series! Also, from the footage, Andrew wanted a shot of getting tails on Pokéball and I flipped 10 heads in a row.

I remember that set for one particular thing. In Base Set theme decks distributed in Poland (at least in this very country), there were booklets which disclosed the lists of all Base Set theme decks, along with overall concepts and suggested modification. In one deck overview, they suggested to add cards that were not in Base Set. Due to a printing error or something like that, suggested cards related to a theme deck from Jungle set ahead of its availability in most local stores.

These videos are incredible for those of us who came late to the game and want a quick recap of what earlier formats were like. Thanks so much for producing them!

I remember having a mr mime and a wigglytuff as a kid and recognizing that both of them were pretty cracked. They were even more cracked because of the way kids built decks, and I certainly wasn’t playing against haymaker decks.

I know this video is 2 years old, but the thought of folks thinking Scyther was going to be the downfall of Hitmonchan reminds me of Obi wan thinking Anakin was going to destroy the sith 😂😂. Also that play mat is gorgeous. I still have that same one from when I was a kid…. But with a Dr. Pepper stain thanks to my brother.

You know, I love looking back at old sets. I loved Alakazam stall. However, it makes me really appreciate how the game evolved and the health of the meta today. I thought the Pokemon company had no way of doing as well with the card game as WOTC. How happy I am that I was so horribly wrong I was.

my favorite gimmick deck was to use Gloom's foul odor (confuses both actives) to abuse how broken confusion was back then (did 30 damage back then which was a lot and had to flip a coin to retreat and had to pay before the coin flip) + full heals/switch so the confusion didn't affect you. Not a great deck but fun to just annoy people with it

Between Miracle Berry and Dodrio it’s easy to get out of the confusion. Or just stay confused if you need the 70 damage and hope you don’t hurt yourself
