      Do you get snow where you live? You should do a demo when you get snow.

      I live in eastern Iowa. We get snow - but some years not until mid-January.

    Another great review Paul. I have the gas Snowmaster (thanks for that review a few years back) and really like it but now this electric is available that is what I would be buying if something happened to mine. Yes I'd like to see all the Toro electrics combined in one video. Cheers.

    Great review! Appricaite all of the info.
    I bought this model a month ago and was eager to use it. We just got our first snow of the season in the Chicago area and have to say I'm a little disappointed. We did get very heavy snow so just want to preface that. But there were many times in about 4-5 inches of snow, that it didn't push the snow out of the chute. Then it piled up in front of it and made it impossible to move out. My batteries (10AH, and 6.5AH) were dead after doing the drive, my sidewalk, and patio. Then the plows came and pushed everything on the drive way and had to do it by hand.
    We got more snow today so I used both batteries at the same time (not sure if this gives longer battery life but it seemed to). I was able to do the driveway, sidewalk, and patio again, but when I went to do the end where the plows came, it would get stuck and shut down after about 5 feet. It became a problem because I wasted so much time turning it off and spinning the auger to reset it and then turning it back on.
    Is there a way to play with the belt pulley so it could power through more snow and only stop when it was clogged? It just got clogged after little snow.

      When it's working right the impeller belt should not slip. You should be able to stall it out with too much snow.
      If you can work on it yourself take the cover off the left side of the auger housing and make sure the tension idler pulley is moving to keep the belt tight. If you don't want to work on it yourself bring it back to the dealer and have them look at it. It's under warranty.

    I would appreciate a Snowmaster vs e21 showdown!

  • @Jon-hl4jv

    In Toro's newest snowmaster video. They claim 2,000 lb per minute on this new e24 model where the snowmaster 824 is 2800 lb per minute.
    Good video! I've been holding off on buying a snowmaster 824 to see reviews of this electric model. Thanks! Hope you get a foot of snow so we can see this in action.

    • @PaulSikkema
      @PaulSikkema  Před 6 měsíci

      I have difficulty comparing lb per minute because there are no standards I can find. Every manufacture's numbers are different.
      Let's just look at 24 inch snowblowers.
      For example, Honda HSS724AT is 1500 ln per min. Ariens Classic is 1700. Ariens Compact is 1900. Ariens Platinum 24 2400. The Platinum is the largest, highest capacity 24 inch on the market...
      I have enough experience with the 824 SnowMaster to say it is faster clearing 2-6 inches on a smooth driveway than the 2-stage machines just because it's easier to use and walk behind. But when you stuff it into the snowplow drift at the end of the driveway an Ariens Deluxe or Platinum will do the task a lot faster every time.
      Even Toro's 32 inch Power Max HD is only rated at 2600 lb per minute!

    I have the gas version for the most part I love it,but i disagree with you on the scrapper bar is it's junk in my opinion it's just a cheap piece of plastic that doesn't really scrap very well but that's my only gripe plenty of power & gets the job done very fast.

    Hi Paul, I've noticed on the electric Model On the auger control! there seems to be a blue plastic padel in front of it is that to lock it in place, so you don't have to hold it, it's not on the gas model please advise Thanks.

    • @PaulSikkema
      @PaulSikkema  Před 5 měsíci

      That's not to lock it in place - it's a safety that you have to pull to start the auger. I'm not sure if that is Toro's idea or a government requirement for electric lawn & garden tools.

    Out of curiosity, do you know where the electric motor is actually housed in this unit? Wondering if the upper section that also houses the batteries is just large for "show" or if the electric motor is actually housed up top as well.

    • @PaulSikkema
      @PaulSikkema  Před 6 měsíci

      The motor is in the top unit. That's the simplicity of the Toro machines - they just took the gas engine off and replaced it with the electric power unit which includes the battery slots, electric motor and all the electronics. The upper section is larger because you can fit three batteries in it.

    This or the toro e21sp, what would tilt one over the other? Which one do you favor? Pricewise, the e21sp is pricier than this in my local homedepot up here in Canada.

    • @PaulSikkema
      @PaulSikkema  Před 6 měsíci +1

      If you get drifts or a significant snow plow pile at the end of the driveway the Snowmaster is a great choice. If you get a lot of slush or snow that packs down on the sidewalks and driveways - the e21's rubber paddles touch the ground and cleans that stuff up really well.

      Get the 824 QXE while there's stock. I had to settle for the 724 last year. If you're planning on going all electric, then this blower would be the choice.

    • @LL-mt2nz
      @LL-mt2nz Před 6 měsíci

      I’m also in Canada. Independent dealers usually have better prices than Home Depot in my area.

    BTW, the kit with the 5Ah includes a panoramic light-- different looking than the accessory kit.

    • @PaulSikkema
      @PaulSikkema  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thanks, I just caught that myself. The wrap around in the parts list is $110.

  • @corystansbury
    @corystansbury Před 6 měsíci

    I wish they had more favorable battery pricing. The bundled 10 Ah is a good deal, but spending the same $200 for a 5Ah and inexpensive (albeit very useful) LED light is a rip-off. They need to set up a provision to build a kit of snowblowers and batteries.

    • @PaulSikkema
      @PaulSikkema  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I basically buy the "kit" for the mowers and snowblowers. That way I now have plenty of batteries to do any task and for as long as I want to run the item.
      Buying the 2 battery you are basically getting the 5AH free. It works if you want to add a string trimmer, leaf blower, hedge trimmer etc next spring.

    • @LL-mt2nz
      @LL-mt2nz Před 6 měsíci

      I started with the Toro Super Recycler 60v. That got me a 7.5 aH battery. A tool will get you 2.5 aH. It’s just more economical to get the he tool too. You can’t have too many batteries and chargers lol

    • @corystansbury

      @@PaulSikkemaI don't disagree, but that portends one needs those other tools.
