Months after she was elected, this mayor can't get access to the village office

- When Molly Cason ran for mayor in the Village of College Corner, she did so on a platform of concerns about transparency. Months after being elected, she still can't access the village offices and has unanswered questions about the way things worked and continue to work.
I’d drill the lock out and replace it as my first act as mayor.
Nope ... you order a city employee to remove the door and replace it lock and all ... adding an unnecessary layer of complication to the issues at hand is taught in Governance 101
@@Freedom_Half_Off very good but you forgot one thing… After it's done you have another government employ come and do it all over again because the forest rule of government spending is why do it once when you can do it twice for double the price?
You'd need a lawyer to check the town or city charter to see exactly what powers the mayor has. Many mayors are so ceremonial that about the only thing they can order is a coffee--at Starbucks. Had I been mayor, though, this wouldn't still be going on six months later. I'd be filing court motions before the end of the second week of access refusal. I'd also have been in touch with the state AG. Plus, the hiding of information like this _might_ be a federal civil rights issue, so there's that.
🐐
And start the audit and release the numbers so people know things before the mayor puts her name on the next document.

Easier said than done, seeing as how in most of these small towns in Ohio the voting population consists almost entirely of friends and relatives of the mayor and other elected officials.

I dont think they can! The city manager is not elected from what i can tell. So she got hired, got dirt on the former mayor, blackmailed herself into a contract with no end, that nobody is in charge of, with no oversight, and she holds all the power. The hardware store guys got caught with like 500 plants in Kansas mind you as well as cooking meth. Well everyone heard about it but it just went away. They never went to court. I picked up a cop walking down the street in uniform without his gun or badge. He had just gotten fired because he wanted to arrest the undersheriffs nephew that he had a warrant for. Well undersheriff ordered him not to. They got into an argument the sheriff came in told him you aren’t serving it and if you don’t like it you can leave your gun and badge you’re fired.
