On Saturday, December 1, 1979, Jim, a Navy friend of mine, and myself, I had just completed my hitch in the Navy, started out from the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We were heading to my parent's home in SW Ohio. We laid over in the mountains of Pennsylvania because of a snowstorm. The next day, Sunday, December 2, 1979, we got back on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and made it the rest of the way home. Jim heard that The Who were going to be in Cincinnati on Monday and wanted to go. I told him that I had just driven from the Outer Banks of North Carolina to SW Ohio and I wasn't driving 55 miles to a damned concert. I told Jim that if he wanted to go then he should make up a cardboard sign that said, The Who, and hitch his way there. He didn't go and we heard the awful news the next day. Because I didn't want to drive and he didn't want to hitch down to Cincinnati, his life may have been spared.

My disabled friend had to go through this on an almost daily basis at her college. Entitled s. . . Heads routinely park in disabled places because they are confident that the people they disadvantage will not call police. She was told to block the space with her vehicle and call for police. The uniform will take care of it after that.
