  • Crime, broken neighborhoods and failing schools in the northern U.S. have sparked what experts call the great migration in reverse: black Americans moving to the South in increasing numbers. NBC's Rehema Ellis reports from Atlanta and meets a CEO who decided to leave Silicon Valley to grow his company in the same region where his ancestors built their families.

    This is great. I love to see stories like this that promote black entrepreneurs who are making things happen. However I cannot help but to admit that the brother having basically sold his business to Proctor and Gamble essentially means that he no longer calls the shots which is somewhat a shame when it's all said and done.

      Previous month I managed to withdraw my first five figure income ever!!! I've been working for this company on the web for twenty four months now and I never been happier... They are paying me $95 per hour, and the best thing about it is the fact I am not that tech-savvy, they just required basic insight into internet and elementary typing skill...Great thing about this gig is that I have more time to spend with my family. I am able to spend quality time with my relatives and buddies and look after my babies and also going on family holiday along with them very frequently. Don't miss this opportunity and make sure to respond fast. Let me show you what I do... *revenue39.com*

    What about the non-tech folks in Atlanta though? All these tech-fueled fast-growth cities are great if you have a good job, and high income. But the South & many other states have widespread minimum wage jobs, poor labor & environmental protections, underfunded public schools & hospitals, etc. With or without kids, you still live among all those other people, and their issues quickly become *your* issues, when the economy goes down or you see a public health crisis. Making a good living for yourself is fine, but the local society around you also needs to be fairly healthy & economically stable, otherwise you find yourself on the wrong end of the torch-and-pitchfork brigade.

    • @kaizersolze
      @kaizersolze Před 3 lety +1

      They should get job training because there are still high paying non-tech jobs out there. And once they earn that money, they need to stack it and invest it so it pays them and they won't be in that position again.

    • @mandisaw
      @mandisaw Před 4 lety

      Except the public schools in the South aren't great either. At least in NY & SF, depending on where you live, you can afford to get your kids into a better district. Although maybe if the cost of living is low, he'll just take his P&G money and put his kids in private school.

      @@oscarwalton1188 But you have to pay for private school, or pass some kind of admission screening for elite charters. My point wasn't that there are no good schools, it was that the schools most kids attend (public school) are not great.

      @WC-we2cr Před 3 lety +7

      That’s not the point 🤦🏾‍♂️. The point is that African Americans are CHOOSING to move back to the South because it’s way more affordable, they have familial and historical ties there, race relations are a lot better, the Southern economies are increasingly growing, and jobs and quality of life are much harder to come by in the North and parts of the West.
