    For me the Y is not even a competition, a way smaller car with much less features. Plus a higher price tag.
    The Lyriq is actually only a few inches smaller than the X model which cost more than double.
    With current market adjustments the lyriq actually has a similar price tag to the Iq5 and the EV6 which again are far out from this astonishing vehicle.

      Don’t understand why such poor charging speeds. Mind you, their best selling EV (Bolt) has pathetic charging speeds as well.
      But it is imperative that people have choices. What a boring world this would be if on Teslas existed.

    • @dontbanmebrodontbanme5403
      @dontbanmebrodontbanme5403 Před rokem +1

      Well, they do matter, just not all the time. If you're doing a 750 mile road trip, obviously a 50kw peak charging rate is going to add extra time to the road trip. I get your point, however, that it doesn't matter if a car says it charges at 250kw, for example, if that's only up til 30% charge, then it drops down substantially. If you're doing a road trip, the most important metric is how quickly til 80% charge (especially if you're not driving a Tesla, which has their super charger network). Generally, you'd like to be able to get to 80% in 30 minutes. You can stop, use the bathroom, get a bite to eat and come out to a car that has 240-250 miles of range (if it is a 300 range car) and you're read to go again.

But I also understand why you enjoy one pedal driving. I love it too! But I think this car with all it's options is good. I find that when driving around town, in heavy stop and go, one pedal is ideal. When at higher speeds, such as on more open roads or the highways, I like the ability to take my foot off the pedal and coast. It's much more relaxing. I own two ice cars and the Tesla and hop back and forth often, although the Tesla is my daily. I'd like to have one pedal driving around town and normal operation at higher speeds. I realize this is dangerous if you're not experienced. But having the ability to switch it out might be a good solution.

On normal you still have some regen (according to the gauge on the display). And even if you are in one pedal, you can still get some extra braking with the paddle. In the Volt, this method kept causing me to have too high of a speed by the time I reached the stop sign or car in front of me (which then required me to stab the brakes suddenly) and I was wondering what the heck was going on. I hate glass roofs for safety reasons, but at least it's got a shade (which should have been white, not black). I wish it had a bumper to protect that expensive front face! I prefer the smaller wheels for better efficiency, but those look classy. I'm wondering if my dealer is going to mark up the price given its popularity. If they do, I'm outa here. I'm wondering if Congress will get off their asses and pass the $7k tax credit soon.

    Another review said that in China there is a frunk, because the 19.2kw charger is not legal in China, so they have room for it with slower charger. It also occurs to me that part of this is the result of Cadillac going with traditional RWD proportions. Most EVs have a very short dash to axle ratio, so the wheels are closer to the dash and the second motor would be tucked away thee leaving enough room for a drunk.
    By choosing the long dash-to-axle ratio Cadillac had to put the second motor is taking up space under the hood, probably chomping up space for a frunk. If it’s my $63k, I will gladly take the longer dash-to-axle ratio. But that, admittedly, is both my speculation and my particular tastes.

Check the latest Chinese videos for the Lyriq - you can see the frunk in multiple reviews. The front of the plastic cover is also different - has a hand grab cut out in the front for raising up the plastic piece. US version doesn't have that handhold, and the plastic piece is snapped in place instead of pivoting like the China version.
      Their version of the Lyriq also uses a locally produced battery pack (different capacity and chemistry). They also can only get 20" wheels (no 22" offering) - but in 3 different rim choices. More color selections also. So quite a few differences from the US car.

    The Best Cadillac Ever Made is the 2016 Cadillac ELR. What a Shame they only made 530 of them, then stopped making them altogether!
    GM is making a HUGE Mistake by going with 100% Battery Powered Electric vehicles at this stage of the game! Ultium-Schmultium! Electric Drive is great - but the masses (especially those who take long trips in excess of 300 miles) are not going to spend their hard-earned money on cars that can only drive as far as around 300 miles (in ideal conditions) before having to hunt down a charging station, and then hope they don't have to wait hours for an open charging spot, and then wait another hour or more to get around 125 miles more of driving range, and then (on long trips) having to stop at the next charging station, and the next charging station, and the next, etc. The majority of car buyers who decry the thought of having to deal with range anxiety are simply not going to be buying range-limited 100% battery-powered vehicles - no matter how hard they try to make them seem worthwhile.
    Here's the Hard, Cold Truth, Folks: The current state of battery technology is simply Not Ready for Prime Time - for batteries to be the sole power source for electric vehicles. Until the Next Generation of Battery Technology becomes available (about 5 years from now) where we'll have batteries that can deliver over 500 miles of range and can be recharged in 5 to 10 minutes (and are affordable to the masses) - the only electric vehicles that really make sense to own are Hybrid Electric vehicles - with the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) ones being the Best Way to Go Electric.
    Back in 2011, GM introduced the Best PHEV concept of them all - their revolutionary Voltec PHEV system, which they rolled out in the 2011 Chevy Volt, with the last model year being the 2019 Volt. The Voltec PHEV system was also introduced in limited numbers in a luxury automobile - the Cadillac ELR, of which 2,403 were made in 2014, followed by a much-improved version in the 2016 ELR, of which only 530 were made.
    GM definitely made a big mistake by discontinuing their ground-breaking Voltec PHEV concept in favor of making 100% battery-powered electric cars. And they are going to find this out when sales of their 100% battery-powered EVs don't live up to their expectations.
    In 2017, I purchased a 2014 Cadillac ELR after getting instantly hooked on Electric Drive upon test-driving it. Over the 5 years that I drove that amazing Electric Luxury Roadster, it proved to be the most reliable car I've ever owned. And with its 295 foot-pounds of torque fully available from a dead stop, thanks to its Electric Drive, and its low CG, long wheelbase, and wide stance, it was the most exhilarating and best handling car I've ever owned!
    Another great opportunity just recently came my way and I was able to move up to a very rare 2016 Cadillac ELR in mint condition. It is everything I loved about my Black-on-Black 2014 ELR and more - including more power, with the torque going from 295 foot-pounds to 373 foot-pounds - making it a real Pocket Rocket! I located one of the rarest 2016 ELRs of them all - a loaded mint-condition gloss white model with a gorgeous two-tone cashmere interior in Des Moines Iowa. I flew there to take delivery of my new ride and drive it to its new home in Upstate New York, The ELR's ability to utilize the vast gas station infrastructure across this great land of ours really shined brightly when I was able to make the 1133-mile trip in 24 hours, with an overnight rest stop in Akron, Ohio - a trip that no 100% battery-powered car could ever have completed in 24 hours, because of the many time-consuming battery recharging stops that would be needed along the way - stops that would have added at least 10 more hours to the same trip. That trip really brought home the primary reason why PHEVs make so much more sense than 100% battery-powered electric vehicles!

      @rsewill12 Před rokem

      My daily driver is a 2014 ELR. I’m ordering a Lyriq to be my new daily driver. However, I am keeping my ELR for our road trips even though, as a retiree, I have and don’t mind the slightly extra time spent on recharge stops that will be required for a road trip in any EV.
      Since that is so, why not road trip with the Lyriq? Because we travel to places where we cannot charge along the way like Mexico City (several times using the ELR already) and, soon, Guatemala (in 2024). There are routes to Mexico City that would add many miles to our planned travel route (McAllen, Tex. to Mexico City via Tampico) that have Superchargers but we have family in Tampico and that city cannot be reached even driving a Tesla and we could not then go to Mexico City because there are no chargers along the route from Tampico to Mexico City. (Interestingly Tampico has a Supercharger, travelers must have to haul their Teslas by truck to get there.) Yes, we could probably find a motel that would likely sell us 110v charging but that is a non-starter (three days to recharge fully, that’s even too long for me). Forget about travel to and in Guatemala with a pure EV, not because there are no charges to be found but rather that they may not be functional for various reasons.
      We are planning a trip for 2024 to Alaska. Can’t get all the way there except using 110v to recharge. Our ELR is what we will take.
      Our second car is a 2013 Volt that uses nine gallons of gas/year, not because we need the gas but because GM requires that the PHEVs burn one tank of gas/year so the gas doesn’t get stale. Otherwise, it’s a city car running only on battery.
      We live in Minnesota. The Volt runs its engine at 15°F (unless user modified) so it is our primary winter car and still doesn’t use that much of the nine gallon tank. The ELR runs at 32°F and lower so it mostly sits in the garage for that part of the winter before we head south.
      I would love a Performance model ELR. There are many nice roads in Mexico that are lightly traveled where I cannot keep up with vehicles exceeding my 105 MPH governed top speed of the ELR. 😁 The Performance model has a governed speed of 135 MPH. I did once get radar clocked there and fined about $15. The bigger hassle was going through the process and time in order to pay the fine…
