They had this kit on sale as the “Stupid Deal of the Day” at MusiciansFriend for $200 with Remo heads. It was $300 off. I play guitar and bass, but I snatched one up immediately because I’d like to learn, and have frequent jam sessions at the house.

This was my starter kit, i had a black one. I didnt like the rack toms sound at all but new heads fixed that, and the snare if tuned right, sounds prettt awesome! Nice kit

I dont know how people set up toms that way. Well sort of since thats how my very first kit looked. Work with whatever you can flow with. Ports can be done by heading up a beans can and melting it throught the head for a clean cut or just stencil.

Yeah, the set up is funky because I’m 6’6 and like my Tom’s facing me instead of horizontal. To each his own and whatever works for what you’re trying to do. 👍
As for the can of beans (can of anything heated up) method, I do not suggest it. For every 3 that look good I’ve seen 20 that splinter or look off or warped. I highly suggest spending the little $ for any actual drum head sound port cutter such as this: Gibraltar SC-GPHCUT Bass Drum Head Port Hole Cutter a.co/d/1uuKJd0
This set came in on consignment this way. And instead of replacing the front beater I left it as someone may want that port.
Great kit for the price. Excellent quality kick pedal and high hat pedal for the price point.

I cannot get these toms sound good. I have attempted to tune them all different ways and they sound awful. Yours sound good!

Buy new heads for the set! The ones that come with the set are awful and pretty bounce-less compared to Remo or Evans ones.
