While I was in Rome, I had to young girls try to pick pocket from me By putting a cardboard in front of my face. I grabbed both their arms and they started to scream ha ha not happening with me.

Pickpockets stuck their hand down my husband’s back pocket. Luckily they only got a map of the city. I used a bag with locks and always kept it close to the front of my body. Nothing in pockets. They surround you especially when doors are opening as to appear they are boarding.
That's the same thing I do, even at work,because they don't have enough lockers. Haven't had anything stolen yet.

I just got back from Rome and crime happened exactly in front of my eyes. I yelled at them to get out of the train when one of them got angry at me because I intervened during their actions. Unfortunately, they still got it. One Americans wallet. But they got shocked when I yelled at them. Everyone just didn't care even it's sooo obvious.
No wonder that's how Assassin's Creed (a game) has a pickpocket feature.

I ve travelled abroad enough to say that in Italy we have many volunteers that try to prevent the worst nd help the victims nd If the police does not put them in prison its not their fault but of the italian law but so many volunteers that help the victims as in Italy I ve never seen anywhere!! I m proud of Italians!! In Uk France Spain nd in the east countries a few or no volunteers at all!! Nd the police has never done anything to help in most cases this has been told by many nd experienced by me nd many of my fruends unfortunately!!
My friend and I (we are both female) were in Rome last November 2023. My friend got pickpocketed in the metro (thank god it was only her wallet which only had like 200€, her phone was on her hand and she managed to immediately block the visa usage of her bank cards). But during our last night in Rome around 11pm-12midnight, we were heading back to the hotel (near Roma Termini) from Trevi Fountain and got on the wrong bus, so we decided to search for the nearest metro station from the bus’s final stop (S.Pietro 😂) and found one to head back. Our Roma Cards have expired so we could not use them for the metro and couldn’t find the ticketing machine, maybe because we were extremely tired and our eyes were not functioning anymore😂. Luckily we ran into two police officers who were on duty that night at the metro station and told us that we could use our bus tickets for the metro and they even accompanied us until we got into the train. Such a bittersweet memory. Grazie Roma ! 😂😢😊 from 🇲🇾

My mother would travel there often to see family. She always picked out the Romani, it was like a game. Then she and her cousins would yell that they are daughters of a witch in Italian. Never seen so many skinny people run like crazy!
So its the younger generation that's being taught how to pick pocket now..I was there when a pickpocket tried me i thought i was the last one to squeeze in but i felt someone bump my back ..i looked back and saw an old woman and all of a sudden the police snatch her out and the guy told me check your bag and one of the pocket was open..i believed bfor the metro living four cops saw her or know she is a theif and pulled her out and i saw her being drag away..
and they are usually from Romania, just stealing and targeting crimes all over Europe, but Rome Termini station seems to be their main hunting ground. If you think you are being targeted LOUDLY speak out and call for help, they always run away.
