The REAL Reason Why I Left the USA (and Won’t be Moving Back)

- Many of you have wondered exactly why I moved away from the USA. 🇺🇸 I left the USA back in 2017, and haven’t looked back. Living abroad has not been easy, but it has given me a life full of new possibilities. I decided to change my video format a little bit and film an open and honest conversation about why I left the United States, and why I probably won’t be living there again. As an American living abroad, I have been able to see the USA from a different perspective, and I encourage all Americans to travel and see it for yourself. In this video I will highlight some of the key reasons why I left, from politics and division to woke culture and the insane costs. Although I am grateful to be an American, it makes me sad to see how much the United States has changed. This is my personal story, my personal experiences, and I hope it will give you a better understanding about who I am 🇷🇺🇺🇸

I am an American and I went to Russia before and honestly I did feel happier when I was in Russia. I rode a zipline in Moscow and when I landed, the workers were telling me in Russian " why aren't you smiling !" " did you not have fun !". I became happy after that and I also liked how I didn't see homelessness in Russia, the food was always amazing, Moscow looked like a whole new world to me. I was also brainwashed not to tell Russians that I am American because I was worried they will hate me. But it was actually the opposite because they started asking me so much questions about America since it turned on their curiosity. I loved Russia and hopefully I get to go back there

Same as me. I left the US on May 10th, 1996. I joined the US Navy and got stationed here in Japan. Fast forward til now, im still here. Happy 28yrs here 🗾🇯🇵
How you did with language and costumes ? And why many says is more stressful life than here USA, same Switzerland, very stressful life.
@@thor3399able US military members stationed in Japan don't actually have to interact with regular society in Japan. They live in their own little bubble. They speak English only, they shop at American shops on the bases, and everything related to the law and legal stuff is handled for them by the military. They're completely unlike everyone else in Japan, including the other non-military foreigners. They have absolutely no need to assimilate into the culture or learn the language.
Are you from San Antonio.
In the 2 months I've been in Russia, I feel so much healthier, lost weight, and feel so much better. We are 100% poisoned in America. My IBS is GONE my allergies ARE GONE, even my skin is much better. I'm not doing anything at all. What.
I agree with Sasha that there is some tension you always live in the US, you come to Russia, and you only then realize the tension you were living in. You don't feel it when you are there.

Dear Sasha - I'm an old man, did my military service in times of "cold war" when my home-country Germany was devided by the "Iron Curtain" and we waited much of the time for s wave of tanks with the Red Star crushing us down. Well - it took decades, then they came. Warm-hearted friendly people from almost every country that had been faced Western Europe, bringing with them their spouses and childred, not a word any more about tanks and a new Russian Federaton had friendly allowed Germany to reunite.
And though times have turned darker again I really love to watch you (and some others) present to us the beauty of Russia, its many cultures - making me ashamed ever again of what "The West" has turned into. And I've even started learning your wonderful language. In a former millenium I lerned democracy and citicenship from Americans, many of them then stationed here. Now I think I will learn from the rich culture of "Mother Russia". I hope you will present us with a lot more videos. And

When you said that your teacher in the International Relations class told you that you weren't allowed to speak Russian, I completely lost my mind. Teaching international relations and no foreign language allowed. That's a typical American political mind. It took me 53 years to figure out everything you mentioned in that video. You're really amazing! I've never been to Russia. I never imagined it because of all the wrong things I've seen and heard about Russia from here. Well, I started to open my eyes after this war Russia is fighting against you know who. I begin to look closer at Russia with my own eyes from every possible source I can find out there. That's how I found your channel and I'm very grateful. I really respect your courage to follow your beliefs and your steps forward. To answer your question, I really enjoyed hearing your deeper thoughts.
Russia has recently made it easier to obtain visas. I strongly recommend that you take advantage of this and come to Russia for at least a week. The flight will be quite expensive, because the United States has canceled direct flights, but all prices of goods and services will be very cheap for you. You can even, for example, treat your teeth in Russia and compensate for the cost of tickets by saving money. Добро пожаловать! Мы будем рады вам!
Russia is fighting again civilians and Ukrainian children, like HAMAS terrorists - you're right

I personally consider Scott Ritter to be one of the best experts on Russia and an international analyst. I recommend watching his video where he answers questions about international politics from users from all over the world or communicates with other famous people and journalists. Respect from Russia!
I am pleased with your interest in Russia! There are already many came to Russia from America, Britain, Germany, Canada, France. One of the best and most objective people in America is Scott Ritter, who has already been to Russia several times and knows a lot and tells the truth. And also very popular and voluminous content about the ordinary life of Traveling with Russell.

@@xoctor Some videos about Russia/China seem to paint the countries in a good/better light but at least they are not using outright lies and propaganda like the western media does.
Its sad seeing the media creating all this phobia/hatred against others over here in Germany despite anyone even remotely informed outside their filter bubble can see that we often are the bad guys that started most of the problems/conflicts.
But people desperately want to believe they are the good guys because otherwise they would have to think hard about themself. Its like when i ask people if they really believe that Russia attacks itself and without any pause they say: "Of course they are".
I am also mixed race/ethnicity, half-Korean and half-American German. The only person here in the US besides another Korean who has correctly acknowledged my Korean ancestry without me saying anything was a Russian tourist who stopped in the gas station I was working in at the time as a young man. After conversing with him for a little, I found him to be a really cool guy and very down to earth. He was helping to fund his trip across our country by selling these beautiful artistic prints. How they came by learning them was not always very pleasant either, so I am impressed by their skills. There is a clannish nature about "mother tongue," and the U.S. is a rather provincial country as a result of marketing. We are encouraged to project this attitude by every means at hand. Fear is the worst part of nationhood, the easiest way to manage the most people. You are fortunate to have been raised with the ability to communicate in at least four languages.

I grew up in the deep south and lived in the southeastern region of the USA for almost all my life. I am half Korean. And what you are describing is not anything I had encountered. When I was young I did get some "shaming" from kids but as I grew older, it all went by the wayside. You realize that children can be the cruelest in life. I don't think what you experienced was in any way representative of the general USA. So, because of my own experience, I would say your reasoning if very weak. Also, I've lived in various countires over the decades: Germany, Italy, the UK, South Korea, Thailand. So I am able to compare and contrast quite easily. I eventook a business trip to Moscow. I had a wonderful time there. Let us hope and pray things will revert peasceful once again.
I am an Iranian born and raised in Canada and I am over how the West tries to say they are democratic and open minded. This video confirmed how racist it is here in the West. Funny part is its not even their land, they are European settlers. Russia like Iran will never bow down to USA or allow them to exploit their country and as a result they get torn apart in the American media.
For one thing, you are not from Canada (like European settlers). Have respect for the people of other countries
, not the politics of a government.
@daytonajimduey2068You're nobody
Especially racist. BLM joined the chat🤡
"It's not even their land"
Any empires conquered alien lands - and Russian and Persian Empires aren't an exception
Oh come on, I'm an Iranian here IN RUSSIA I've gotten into 5 fights over the past year over speaking English or being brown despite always trying to walk away from conflict. It's not uncommon for me to go out with my girlfriend without being harassed by some Russian dude in their 40s
I remember getting a job as an English teacher and the employer telling me that even though he promised 2600 rubles per session, he'll only pay me 1600 because I'm not white
Also here I'm studying physics in English and when Russia's ministry of education visited us they were telling me that I cannot say a word of English because Russia is trying to ban all English programs and if the ministry found out that our program is in English they would cancel it(yes Russian education is weird)
Here I also have to mention that we are racially discriminated against with words like khach(typically a word for Azarbaijanis, Armanians etc)and churka (a word for central Asians from tajikistan and stuff) only time they're not racist to us is because they mistake us as Arabs which I'm sure every Iranian would see as the worst thing to be referred to (not gonna discuss why)
Now let's talk about Tajikistanis, so they're a ridiculously isolated Persian speaking ppl who's looks can very from indian to Mongolic to blonde blue eyed. And when you talk to them they'll constantly tell you stories of how they got their job because they're luckier than other tajikistanis and looking white, with employers actually telling them to not hire other tajikistanis for not looking white, so then poorer tajikistanis get increasing isolated from Russian society causing them to do things like the recent terrorist attacks with no hesitation. I remember the first month I came to Russia and had tajikistanis tell me to under no circumstances should I tell any Russian that I can speak the same language as them because they're hated by Russian society
Also Iran not bowing down to the us is more put of all administration being ...well Iran like rather than Russia's reasonings

Another point I would make about health is that while I think there are toxicity problems with American food, particularly involving overuse of pesticides, I think the poisoning goes way deeper than that. There is a lot of evidence linking both stress levels and shift work to type 2 diabetes for example, but of course we cannot really admit that because if we did, we'd have to change our work culture.
When I was in Germany I had a stress-related health breakdown which included type 2 diabetes. I have since been able to reverse it (this took two years of concerted effort), but it was interesting to me that some of my Russian colleagues understood the link between stress and diabetes, while my American colleagues (and German ones too) did not.
Russian males have a life expectancy of 64, one of the lowest. Russian medicine is not what I would call a success.

I agree. I’m American and really hate what’s going on here. I will never be able to live outside of US but I wish I could. USA is going down the tubes real quick
Ironically, several of my Russian friends who left Russia to live in the US about a decade ago (some, evem more than that), are moving back to Russia, and ALL of them are saying the exact same things about the US: a total lack of healthcare, crappy food, expensive life, working conditions that are borderline slavery, a divided and aggressive society, drugs and homelessness all around, and a constant fear of woke people that may find seemingly normal things offensive and react aggressively to that. On top of that, a rather noticeable increase of russophobia pumped into American society by the media.
"The US isn't what it used to be" is their new motto. And from what I heard of these people, it seems like other foreigners who came to the US in search of what they thought would be a better life, are leaving the US for good too...
and most Americans own a gun. if their mood changes, and they have someone else in their sights, they won't hesitate to shoot! I'm a 68 yr old guy, so when I was your age, I feel like America was very different. When I was a child, I used to ride my bicycle for miles and miles in Alameda, CA (San Francisco Bay Area). Nowadays, criminals have more rights there than anyone else, so a kid risks being sold into slavery by riding around like I did. In the 50s and early 60s it was great. But it started changing with Viet Nam. I kept my nose out of politics for decades. In school I learned about the Constitution and the Declaration, and I thought they were great. I chose the Republican Party because they seemed to respect those documents more from my perspective. But I was a lit and philosophy major, so I wanted to understand the other perspectives. Now I think I understand the post-modern thinking behind those who are "post-American" and who see individuality and freedom as a constraint. Even this is not new, as Russians know too well. But post-modernism is not sustainable, and Russia has also figured this out and have re-traditionalized their culture with a sustainable core Sacred at the heart of their civilization. They have returned to orthodox Christianity. I hope America can learn from Russia, because we must do something similar here, or else America as we knew it will cease to exist. We're kind of on the brink of oblivion right now. You look to be pretty close in age to my daughter. I wish you the best, and I thank you for sharing your journey with those of us who remember a better America. Thanks!

Racism and even rudeness is often a luck of the draw. Ironically as she says here, its been professors. But it can depend what city and what state. There are of course cosmopolitan areas, but others less so.
Same here, I am Russian who lived in America for over 30 years in different coastal states (East and West). I have never experienced Russophobia toward me. I wonder if that's a new thing? I think Americans are very nice people and that's why they are being taken advantage of right now, they are too soft. For young Americans this country is a disaster though. Culture here has rotted out on so many levels. Great advice that they should travel as much as possible to be able to get a fresh perspective on the state of America today and to understand what can they do about getting it fixed.

Since when did Ford become a luxury brand?
We/Americans can't even rent one bedroom apartments anymore in our own country without having high credit scores
And now only the upper class with high credit scores can buy homes in this country!
We don't almost lead the world in homelessness for nothing you know?
Meanwhile our brilliant government just gave the ok to send $95 billion to Ukraine,Israel and Taiwan
Included in this package Ukraine will receive $9 billion of economic assistance in the form of forgivable loans!
And nothing for Americans in need

the only thing wrong i see you said was the money going over seas the rest just happens over time home where only like 30k back in the 80 good luck finding one for that price now that isn't falling apart. prices have always gone up in america and it has to do with government spending and the biggest spenders are the democrat party so yeah if people would come to grips with this but at last the america people i guess like getting screwed by the democrat party seeing as every election they vote for them.

American here who loves russian culture, history, language. And, WOWWWW…3 YEARS PAID MATERNITY LEAVE?! That’s AMAZING and brings tears to my eyes because that’s how it should be (assuming the mother needs to work to make ends meet otherwise). I wholeheartedly agree that the breakdown of traditional family values is what is ruining america. Imagine if we allowed mothers to spend the most critical years of their children’s lives raising them, instilling the foundations of traditional morality, and building strong family relationships. Our youth probably wouldn’t have so many issues and tolerate degeneracy.
Not only 3 years of paid maternity leave. And also subsidies. A little for the first child, more for the second, even more for the third, etc.
Correction: 1.5 paid leave + 1.5 unpaid leave
In Russia, childbirth is completely free, kindergarten is almost free (for a nominal fee). If your employer fires you, then he is legally obliged to pay you 3 months' salary so that the loss of your job does not come as a shock to you and much more.

Sasha, as an American I agree with all of what your saying...sadly. I think that's why I enjoy watching your channel. I often wonder what it's like in other countries. Do they have the same problems. Through your honest perspective, and from watching your video's, I see so many of the good thing's that are a thing of the past here in America. The 50's Era was all about traditional family values that are long gone. I hear about "the good Ole day's all the time from my parent's. Today, so much of daily life is nothing but stress. My brother's in law enforcement came out of retirement to work in our school's because of all of the school shootings they felt compelled to once again bring their year's of training to the school's to protect our children from someone coming in and shooting them. It could happen anywhere in any school and it's frightening. I enjoy your video's Sasha. I enjoy learning about different cultures and seeing so many of the great places you take us to! Thanks for all you do. Appreciate you!🙏❤
I also enjoy the other cultures. It saves me money and I just cannot afford to travel...I really do not have the patience to travel. Traveling takes time, effort, planning, and so much energy. I know I sound negative. But, I really do not have the traveling bug in me. The only reason I would travel to a place is if the food is exceptionally good. It has to be out of this world. American food is empty of taste. All I taste is sugar....I am tired of all the sugar injected into our food. For example, the orange tastes like sugar...does not even taste like orange anymore. A lot of food here has lost it's flavor. I eat out and do not feel satisfied. I believe food is contributing to our unhappiness. If food does not carry the necessary good stuff...how can we be strong enough to face life's challenges? I have stopped eating all packaged goods (chips, cookies, ice cream, white bread, most fruits, candy) and I feel better. I firmly believe these foods cause inflammation. But, I still feel like some of our vegetables are not natural either. We are being fed items that will cause us to get sick.

But honestly at this point im a bit fine with where ever i end up in the future, the schooling, debt, insurances, workaholic work culture, medical bills, barely any maternity leave and paid vacation days, etc. in the u.s is rediculous. You cannot even find the time to live your life. And that's all i want to do, just live my life. That was also when the Patriot Act was imposed on the American citizens.
That is correct. It was from the moment of the 911 attacks in 2001 that the destruction of a once normal and sane America and its transformation into an authoritarian dystopia began, and it has gotten steadily worse since then. It is a dying empire that is out of touch with reality. It is literally the enemy of pretty much the entire world now, and that becomes plainer with every passing year.
Sasha:
I fully understand how you feel concerning America. I was born here, raised here, and served 10 years in US military. Before any of this, at age of 9, was introduced to culture outside of US (specifically Australia, where we visited and stayed with families for 2 months).
I do not like what America has devolved to; it is embarrassment to someone such as myself that has sacrificed too much (family, friends, loved ones and freedom). Not all Americans hate Russia; in fact, you have 1 here (me) that looks to someday soon leave and start new life. Know it will be rough/hard, as I am not young person, but I have many things going for me that might give advantage: curiosity, open mind, friendly attitude, ability with languages (да, русский язык один из них); I had to use russian/english translator as I do not have Russian alphabet operating on my keyboard. Truth be told, I read and write Russian better than I speak it; would love to find people (Russian, of course) that could patiently teach me the language and show me more of the true culture, and NOT propagandized videos promoting the "evilness" of the great Russian menace.
I am explorer. To me, other cultures are like Christmas gift to be opened and enjoyed happily.

Freedom is increbidle in the RF considering that they are at var. Imagine the US-Ukraine var... Things would be different.
Саша, ты очень воспитанная и грамотная девушка! Я очень рад, что в наши края вернулся такой замечательный соотечественник ❤
Not only are you one of the most beautiful women in the world, you are absolutely brilliant. Your maturity, intelligence and courage are incredible. I live near Detroit and i can remember decades ago wishing i could live in a country like Russia. That was a long time ago and things have gotten exponentially worse since. Take care Sasha, you are an angel on this earth.
