    If you cant pass smog then try checking to see if your EGR valve needs to be cleaned or replaced. If you have a Mercedes Benz with a V8 M113 engine then the procedure is very simple. In this video I will be working on a Mercedes Benz S Class W220. I will show you how to remove and install your EGR valve in case you need to replace it as well as explain how to clean it. I would recommend cleaning it first.

    It's always a bummer when you can't pass smog. Hopefully this video helps :) Also, the vacuum tube size you'll need for your EGR valve is 5/32", or 4mm, Inside Diameter. I put the link in the description. 🙌

      @GarageDynamics  Před 2 lety

      Thank you Kevin Kelker! It's much more flexible than a wire brush and just as effective. Wasn't too much gunk. I think the biggest issue with the EGR on the M113 engine is the heat exposure to the rubber hoses. Mine were so bad that they just started to crumble when I touched them.

      I actually have a E Class but yes gotta keep them rollin. I had a question I hope that you can answer for me. So you know how the engines look very similar from class to class. Ok so you know where you remove the EGR tube from manifold well just to the drivers side of is a uh Ill call it a black nipple. On mine I can grab the black nipple and pull it part ways out and then push it back into manifold. And Im not sure if it was on your car or someone elses but they had a hose coming out of it. Do you think mine is supposed to have hose in the center of black nipple also? What is the name of that part and what does it do? Thank you for your time.

    • @GarageDynamics
      @GarageDynamics  Před rokem

      @@bnstalls8949 Hummm, do you know if there is a hole in the black nipple? If so, then I would think there is a hose that is suppose to connect to it. It's hard to give a diagnosis without some sort of picture or diagram.
      Does your nipple look like this?

      www.benzworld.org/threads/vacuum-nipple.3014860/#lg=thread-3014860&slide=0
      If so, then It looks like you need a hose on the nipple.

    Wonderful video. Thank you. Question for you. If the end of EGR port that goes into the intake manifold is clogged, do I need to pull apart the intake manifold and clean whatever the pipe leads to/from inside the manifold?

    • @GarageDynamics
      @GarageDynamics  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello Blessed One1, That isn't necessary because once you unbolt the two screws from the intake manifold the whole pipe comes out. I hope this helps. Cheers!

    • @bnstalls8949

      I meant windshield wiper hose to replace EGR hose and not to connect to part I asked about.

    • @GarageDynamics
      @GarageDynamics  Před rokem

      Hello B Nstalls, in regards to that plastic piece. I think it just hangs next to the EGR valve. I wouldn't hook up the windshield wiper fluid hose to your EGR valve. That may cause a malfunction of the EGR valve.
