- Kensington Palace announced that Kate, the Princess of Wales, will be hospitalized for up to two weeks after undergoing a planned abdominal surgery. NBC News’ Meagan Fitzgerald reports on Kate’s condition.

It is misleading to say it was not unexpected and was scheduled. Yes, it was scheduled, but not by very much lead time. All kinds of engagements, events and a trip to Italy have been cancelled. If this surgery was scheduled well in advance, the appointments would never have been made.

People are so limited in their medical knowledge …. This may have been planned like yesterday 🤷🏼♀️ or it may have been urgent but not emergent. There are lots of things that can go wrong in the belly of a woman. Especially if you’ve had 3 kids. My good friend had just some nagging pain that ended up being a ruptured appendix - caused an infection - she ended up hospitalized for almost 2 weeks. … could be anything.

Abdominal Hysterectomy would require a 2-6 week recovery.
Please do not refer to Princess Catherine as Kate Middleton. She hasn't been that name since she has married.
She is a public figure, and the people cannot call her or visit her, so she will have privacy, unless she's talking about the UK media. This is strange, sounds serious if it takes 14 days in the hospital and she will not be back on duty until Easter in April...

She has had the best surgeons . Plenty servants to clean up her home . Her huband the prince of W ales has cancelled all his engagments for 2months . Unlike the rest of us , who have at least 3 years wait on the nhs , and no after care , and husbands who still have to work .
For her, the recovery time could even be longer. She travels a lot and makes lots of appearances.

probably an open procedure rather than a laparoscopic surgery. they have much longer hospital stays.
