All very cozy. I'm contemplating a petition on the basis that, as her policies made most people instantly poorer, why should she get £117k inflation proof for life?!

It's expenses for costs - so it depends on what is claimed... which presumably depends largely on what she is invited asked to do and invited in that capacity... I'm thinking Davos and Bilderberg invites are unlikely... Davros and Build-a-Bear are possible though. It is also unlikely that the new gov will ask her to do anything.

There should be a review of Parliamentary pensions to get them off the gravy train and onto the same system of contributions as the rest of employed workers. It won't happen because the very people with their snouts in this particular trough (M.P.s) are the same ones who stand to benefit from the status quo.

From all the anecdotal evidence to Truss's lack of character combined w/bizarre speech where she feigned empathy/connection (something narcissists/sociopaths do to attempt to connect and manipulate people because their lack of conscience), I am convinced she's a narcissist and/or sociopath -- not dissimilar to Trump.
@@c2757the argument for the pensions is avoiding possible conflicts of interest. "Politician" isn't a skillset that is all that employable. So the idea is that the PM should be able to just focus on the job without worrying about financial ruin if they are voted out and unemployment.
The possible conflict of interest would be doing favours for donors etc. in exchange for employment. Like what David Cameron did when he became a lobbyist. It's supposed to reduce corruption

Truss doesn't understand how to behave like a reasonable human because she is not one.
She behaved like a toddler. I don't like people chucking politicians into certain camps. I would hate anyone to put the likes of Morduant, Shapps, even Rees-Mogg in the same camp as Truss. They all left magnanimously with significant grace and were very respectful to the incumbent. Meanwhile, Truss behaved like the kid who whines when they don't always win at monopoly.

As an Irish person, I found that offensive. Not because it was derogatory towards Ireland and the Irish people, but it demonstrated the distain towards Ireland that existed in the Tory party over the past few years. One of the things that made me proud to be British, was the absolutely stellar conduct of the majority of winners and losers from this election. Chief among these course being the speeches from Sunak and Starmer... recognition, respect and reconciliation - both ways. Like when Labour were in opposition and backed the Conservatives on their approach to Ukraine. Unity and solidarity across party lines for a better country and a better world, is something that all parties, in all democracies, should aspire to.
Reform is not right wing or left wing it is nationalist. It believes the citizens of the UK come first, and the government has to support the wishes of the najotif the British citizens. It seems the British people did not like that one little bit. Strange old world.🎉

Starmers majority looks big but it is on extremely shallow ground. Very low vote share. Majorities in "safe seats" slashed to 3 digits in many cases and now he has to clash with reality. He has hidden over the last 4 years from actually saying what he will do but has promised change. But no change indicated by his actions. Now he has to actually do something and the public clearly don't like him so he better get it right straight away as he has no honeymoon period to hade from the voters in.
It’s very clear Truss is very uncomfortable in many public facing social situations that involve spontaneity. She also seems to exhibit a poor empathy response or have much ability to self reflect on her behaviour or hold eye contact.
