Former prime minister Liz Truss has lost her seat to Labour in one of the biggest shocks of election night. Terry Jermy will become the MP for South West Norfolk with 11,847 votes after ousting the Conservative who spent 44 days in the top job.

What I don't get is how Truss got nearly 11000 votes more than the monster raving looney party
Simple answer is there were 11000 loonies voting for her, whereas the 300 odd loony voters are the only sane people!
It was a case of identity theft and she as usual couldn't figure it out, that Monster Raving Looney did a better imitation of her than she could - back into the closet or under the bed Liz Truss where you came from the old forgotten clothes or dust balls and that penny piece may appreciate you.

Emotional speech from Mr Jermy, I'm glad he won and he is clearly motivated by something other than self-interest that characterised the previous Conservative administration, which Truss is a prime - excuse me - example of.
The system allows parasites like her to live off us all.

Churchill was considered an average peacetime PM. It's a different skill set. This woman collapsed the economy after 17 days into office and left a government in crisis. That is beyond unskilled ... a national security emergency doesn't bear thinking about.
Churchill messed up the economy in 1925 when during his time as Chancellor he took the country back onto the gold standard

I heard that after her ranting speech about Beijing pork markets and pear and cheese imports, she travelled down to Cornwall to check out The Edam Project that she had heard about, before quietly returning to Westminster, after realising her crass mistake.
I can only presume that the 11, 217 people who voted for her made a mistake, thinking that they were voting for The Monster Raving Loony candidate.

No, she doesn't. Prime ministers no longer receive half their final salary as pension (which wouldn't have been 130k anyway). They are now part of the ministerial pension scheme, a contributory defined benefit scheme. Ex prime ministers do get a maximum allowance of $115,000 a year to cover any expenses incurred acting in their capacity as an ex PM.
She kept everybody waiting and possibly was unable to face the result, an utter coward.
She might have been caught short, understandable in the circumstances.
She couldn't even be arsed to wear a rosette.
if her skill on colours is any thing like her door opening skills then it best she not wear one.

Oh this is brilliant. My niece was in a choir with one such who didn't sing but just wiggled her jaw from side to side. Her parents stopped coming.

Seems gentlemanly without completely letting Truss off the hook. More importantly seems human and compassionate which even Norfolk can't go without, though it has pretended it can when voting for the likes of Truss. All the best to Terry for the win and a great speech. Sadly if you add Reform to the Tory count, most people in the area don't want a sensible and humane MP or even a stable economy, but for once FPTP delivers a decent person into office even if all the farmers and fascists won't appreciate this.
