  • During an interview on BBC News, a BBC Ukrainian journalist viewed pictures of her family home, which was devastated overnight in Kyiv.
"This building is my home," Olga Malchevska told presenter Karin Giannone on set in London.
"I can't believe what I am seeing is where I used to live," she added.
While on air, she heard from her mother, who along with other family members, is safe.

That BBC report was exactly as it said - right now Ukranians are suffering and having their homes flipping bombed, civilians and children who have not done a thing wrong to deserve the carnage being inflicted on them. Anyone who is rational and sensible should be in solidarity with Ukraine and anyone who has had their home hit including, that Ukranian national BBC reporter.

One of the craziest things I was ever shown in my life happened in Bosnia, my mother and her family grew up there as farmers, when the war started she was in University and eventually made it to America. When we went back to Bosnia I remember walking down a gravel road and my mom pointing to a cement "arch" that was about 10x20 that had nothing but rubble surrounding it and asking if I see it, I responded yes and in a solemn tone she said "that was my childhood home". To me, when my parents, my mom explained to me the path from Kreševo to Kiseljak, ask your mother, she'll know, trough the mountains, where my biological mother and half brothers (I was in her belly) had to go trough by bus and guns and bombs all around them, my biological mother made peace with the fact that all of us will probably die but somehow, God saved us and brought us to safety. And when she explained to me how my biological mother risked her life to go and dig up a few potatoes to feed her pregnant self and my two half brothers while around her people were firing guns and throwing bombs. I was adopted by my biological aunt, she also lost her home and possesions and job in the war. My other aunt was in Dobrinja 3, it was on the first line of fighting in Sarajevo with her 3 kids, pregnant with my cousin (15 days younger than me) and her husband. So.... sorry for my language but fuck war and people who started it. I hate and I mean, hate, the orchestrators of wars. I wish them nothing but a slow, torturous death by the people they've tried to sacrifice in their Risk game.

It is amazing how the UK and US used the Ukranians to provoke this war, not caring about Ukrainian children, just to drag Russia into conflict.
When the Ukranian army helped in destroying Iraq, Iraqi people said that the Ukranian soldiers were as savage and barbaric in killing Iraqi women and children as the UK and US soldiers were. Its the turn of their own children now.

@@kmma1094 yes, the people of democratic nations believe in democracy for all, by choice not force. I am from a former occupied country. Historically, my country recognizes and stands with the people of Palestine. Europe welcomed refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and other nations when their countries were in conflict. Our nations demographics changed dramatically over the past 20 years or so. However, to be clear, we (the majority of Europeans and westerners in general) do stand with the people who are victims of political wrongdoing and humanitarian crises, regardless of location, ethnicity and/or religion. The west is the most diverse place on the planet. Ask yourself why. We are by no means perfect and for sure there are issues in the western world but freedom is key to our values and beliefs and it is that way because of the collective history of World Wars fought on this continent and in my own country a War of Independence, Civil War and troubles still in living memory. It is why people want to come and live in west. People seek the freedom and equality we live by. Ukrainians do not want Russian rule. They are a sovereign nation and are free to choose their own future and protect themselves from an aggressive foreign power. Putin is a coward who puts the world at grave risk. You can support him, you are free to do so, but in doing so you support an oppressive and murderous regime. Moreover, your logic is flawed in that you justify Russia’s actions in Ukraine because namely America (and other western countries) done the same/similar in the Middle East under the guise of the War on Terror. Your argument against the west is your argument for Russia. It is hypocritical and flawed. There is no justification for what is happening in Ukraine in the same way there is no justification for what happened in Afghanistan. You do not have to be on one political side or the other, you can simply be on the side of the people and stand for what is moral.

You know it's actually really really alarming if some other country interferes now. Russia has threatened to use nuclear arms if distracted by other countries now. It's upto them to decide if they can sacrifice their country to help another.

I watched my husband's childhood home get destroyed by flood waters back in 2016. It was gut wrenching. I cannot even fathom the pain, sadness, fear, etc. that would come with watching your home be destroyed by war. After the flood you know that you can go back to pick up the pieces and that you are safe once the waters recede. With war, everything is unknown and nothing is safe anymore.
