She didn't try to protect link at all. That's why her powers didn't awaken.
@@airtiger4577get all the memories. Link was getting decimated by a bunch of guardians. Right before one was about to finish him off Zelda got in the way and held her hand up to defend him. It unlocked her powers and she shut down all the guardians there.
My theory is one of her ancestors acquired the full Triforce and passed it down in secret. Praying at the springs is supposed to acquire the Power, Wisdom, and Courage to be worthy of using it.
Perhaps its full nature was forgotten over the ages the, only a lingering wish for the princesses to seal evil.
This Zelda had lots of wisdom (interest in research). Her defending Link was an act of courage. I'm not sure where power entered the equation.

Fi was raised from Wisdom herself, explains why she was so wise in this.
Dinhjason Yhea but in the game she’s an annoying repetitive know it all who mostly said things you already knew.
For example she points out whenever you are low on health like the clear health bar and annoying sound wasn’t enough.
Goat Lover well to the player I guess it would be obvious seeing as we have a HUD but how truly obvious would some of this information be to the hero?

*When you were expecting comedy*
but got Absolute Sadness
The divine powers don’t awaken when you _want_ it to unlock, Zelda. It only awakens when you have a powerful desire, so strong that it’s what drives your very soul forward, to protect the ones you love. All the Zelda’s from ages past (Or ages into the future, depending where Breath of the Wild is on the timeline) already had disaster fall on them and unlocked their powers with their strong desire to defend Hyrule. Zelda from Breath of the Wild was mostly living in peace time and so had no strong desires to protect anyone or anything. She was a lot more adventurous and hands on, but she didn’t feel strongly about anyone to desire to protect them, she hated her father, scorned Link for being the hero of legend, and didn’t have any particular love for the four Champions. It’s only when her entire world crumbled around her: Ganon’s revival, Link on death’s door, her father and Champions dead and her once proud Guardians and Divine Beasts now used as tools of destruction by Ganon. The only thing she had left was Link, who was giving his life to protect her. With a strong desire to protect Link, that’s when her powers finally awakened and burst forth. What’s wrong with you, Zelda? Nothing at all. You just need an extra push.
Ages Past BotW is the most recent in terms of Timeline no matter which one it's the one thing we do know!
That's what her father and nobles should have known instead of blaming her and pushing to her limits to the point she lost her self confidence.

I think she’s a great character. I never got to play Skyward Sword consistently due to work, so having Fi remind me about things was always very helpful.

I relate to this on a personal level. Comparing myself to my family and assuming I should be further along in some way or another, instead of focusing on who I need to be in this moment. Thank you. I didn't know I needed this so badly.

It had been a few weeks since Link and Zelda had sealed away Ganon and saved the world. And even though Ganon was gone, things hadn't exactly been easy....
The guardians had all broken down, but monster attacks were still all too common. Not to mention The Yiga Clan now seeked revenge on Link and Zelda.
Link's memories had almost completely returned but he often still forgot even the simplest things about his past.
But Zelda had it worst of all. She had been a spirit for so long she'd almost forgotten how to be Hylian. And seeing how destroyed Hyrule was had been horrible on her emotional state.
In order to help Link recover the rest of his memories, Zelda took Link to Hyrule Castle (which had been cleared of most of the monsters) to read some of the history books she kept in her old room. But really she wanted to go there for the nostalgia.
As Link was reading one of the books, Zelda stood on the balcony, leaning against the edge with her hands.
"The amount of time I used to spend on this balcony..." she said with a small chuckle, "just staring at the sky, getting lost in my thoughts."
"What kind of things did you think about?" Link asked, without looking up from his book.
Zelda sighed, "I used to wonder why I was such a failure. Why I couldn't unlock my sealing power as easily as my ancestors. Why I was nothing but a silly disappointment...." Her voice began to trail off as she leaned slightly over the edge to stare at the ground that seemed so far away from the tall tower.
"Princess, please stop beating your self up about that," Link said, "it's not your fault-" "How is it not my fault!?" Zelda snapped, "If I had awakened my power sooner, then we wouldn't be here! You wouldn't have lost your memories, I would've saved my family and friends, and Hyrule wouldn't be in ruins...."
She was leaning a bit farther over the edge now.
"Princess...." Link said, as he nervously set his book down, "perhaps you shouldn't stand so close to the edge like that...."
Zelda didn't listen, and her hands were shaking.
"And now, it's like my power has completely disappeared! I'll admit....it's a little nice not having it, but I'm so.......useless without it!"
Her whole body was shaking now, and her grip on the edge began to loosen.
"Princess! Please step away from-"
"I'm EXACTLY where I used to be! I'm nothing but a useless, helpless, powerless little girl! I keep saying that I'll 'repair Hyrule' but what can I do?! It wouldn't even make a difference if I...if I.....DISAPPEARED!"
Zelda felt hot tears in her eyes, she was barely holding on anymore.
Link lept to his feet. "ZELDA, PLEASE!"
"IT ALL HURTS SO MUCH! THE GUILT, THE STRESS, THE ANXIETY! I'M TIRED OF IT! I'M DONE! I WANT TO DISSAPEAR! I'M GOING TO DISSAPEAR!"
Suddenly, just as Zelda was about to let go, Link ran over and threw his arms around her. He held her so tightly she could barely move.
"Please.....please don't dissapear, Zelda." He whispered as tears slowly fell from his eyes. "You're the only person I truly have left, I can't lose you. We've both been through a lot together, and I failed you one hundred years ago, as both a bodyguard and a friend, so please, allow me to help and protect you from everything that will and has happened to us. I'd never forgive myself otherwise."
Zelda turned around and hugged back, still crying. "I'm so sorry, Link, I have no idea what I was thinking." She said, softly.
"I do," Link replied, "I used to think the same thing, that it didn't matter if I was 'a legend' or if I had some 'magical destiny', in the end, I was just a kid. I thought it'd be better if I just disappeared."
"What changed your mind?" Zelda asked, looking up at him.
"Well, I....I tried to look to the future. My father used to say that 'good or bad, nothing lasts forever, especially thoughts and feelings.' Why disappear when you have the chance of a better future? We both know things will never be the same, but that just means we have to push ourselves to make them better."
Link smiled and Zelda couldn't help but softly smile as well.
"Thank you...." she whispered, leaning her head against his chest.
"Thank you so much."
Once again, Isabelle gives a spectacular performance. Transitioning from humor to sorrow excellently.

you know it's the fandom's positive depiction of Fi that make me love her more as a character.
This comic is beautiful and I love the fact that Zelda can see Fi, though it's not really sure if it's cannon that she can see Fi, I really love this headcannon a lot!
Can we just talk about how Fi, a spirit we thought could never have that much emotion, is giving us the feels so well?

This kind of slick editing to really bring out the emotions each panel exudes as well as the heartfull voice acting is the exact reason why this channel will always be the greatest comic dubbers to me and second place isn't even close.

Waking your power zelda
I think this speaks a lot to those who often feel like they aren't going anywhere in life. Myself included.
We often feel like the world wants us to catch up and evolve into butterflies so much earlier than we wish, which makes us feel much worse when we aren't getting there fast enough.
Even though we look up to those that we consider, "perfect", or those we consider as "heroes", we need to remember that we cannot completely emulate them, nor follow along the trails they took before we came into the picture.
This comic's a big departure from the usual humour, but it's worth it, honestly.
