i figured this part myself easily enough with the manual, but what i can't find an answer to, is when to "shorten" the wire? cause as i understand you have 30m so I suppose once it's in bad shape, you cut the used part. the question is "how bad"?

You don’t need to worry about that, the wire will break by itself when it has become too brittle with the heat.

Did the spool come taped? I took the tape off and the wire basically unravelled...
