Who else thinks that at this point GRRM should just have a novella dedicated to a different character from each major part of Planetos???
I'd love to see the characters he'd come up with.

The Summer Isles seem to be an interesting mix of Swahili, West African, and Carribean cultures.
I wonder if the more southern islands are more politically/culturally seperate?
It's odd they're so unknown if so many Summer Islander traders travel abroad; makes me think the only ones that do engage in such trade are the northern isles that we actually know about.
The Isle of Women being Rhoynish to this day is fascinating. I wonder how much intermarriage/cultural fusion has happened and if they have any continuing relationship with Dorne?

Navi, The Real Fairies Queen Former YANG. You’re quite wrong. Widely the term “Moor” was simply a term used to describe a person of dark skin throughout mainland Europe. The Spaniards originally referred to these Africans as Moors because they came from Morocco. The modern day berbers you speak of are not the same inhabitants of North Africa previous to the 1400s nor had they been the considered the majority up until the late 1800s. Moroccans left Africa to conquer parts is Spain for 800 years so by the time they were forced back to Morocco , most of them were mixed. So what you see their today is a result of that mixture as well as massive influx of euro-Arabs or descendants of the Ottomans/Turks who came centuries later. Arab is not a race, simply a culture spawning out of the Arabian Peninsula that spread from the Middle East in to east, north and west Africa and eventually in to parts of Europe. Not sure if you travel but Europeans keep the true original moorish identity very much in tact! Wether it be certain-works of art such as statues, pendants, painting, historical or religious propaganda, and even in celebration. As a matter of fact, they host a Parade in Alcoy Spain during the month of January known as The festival of Moors and Christians where the Spaniards dress up as Africans or “moors” (painted in total black face) re-enacting their history of the moors fighting the christians. Moorish is very much so African civilization and hardly anything else up until the 1400’s. Sundiata, Mansa Musa, Abu Bkr ll were all west African and all considered as Moors to the western world as it is a western term. Also, it may worth mentioning that up until the 13th century many inhabitants of the Arabian Peninsula couldn’t be told apart from your modern day “black” person up until the 15th century where that feature would dwindle down. To find evidence of these people look no further than than the indigenous Mahra Arabs. There is a great confusion in these historical matters due to mass migrations of Europeans and eventually the white washing of history during the late 1700’s up until this very day courteous of western conquest.

Grand Master Malians are very much not moors. And those paintings are inaccurate. While both blacks and whites made up parts of the moors the majority were like modern day berbers.
