I feel so bad for the 18 year old girl, she was sent on that show by her boyfriend who clearly does not like how she looks and for other people to judge her. She's only 18 and trying to figure herself out. That would destroy my self esteem if I wasn't already confident and comfortable with myself.

Cams ep;an 18 year old whos most likely trying to figure herself out (whos boyfiend sent her on the show), someone who is proud to be who they are, yet another alt woman who was confident enough to be the way she wants in the 2000's.
In James's ep; a happy couple, yet again more alt woman who are comfterble with themselfs, a couple who love themselfs.

for anyone wondering, The iron cross has technically been around since the 13th century and was used as a military medal but was later adapted and used as the emblem for the Prussian army until it was used Germany from 1871 - 1918 and later by nazi Germany from 1933 -1945
the symbol is still used today by the German Armed Forces, the Iron cross itself isn’t what is frowned upon rather it’s the Nazi Germany styled variant of it, the reason the Goth girl had it on is that It is also used as a symbol in Heavy Metal style clothing and styling so it’s not uncommon to see people wearing the cross.
Unfortunately, the Goth community does have a bit of an issue with military goths wearing symbols as part of the aesthetic and not realising the connotations they have. Even if a symbol doesn't mean something today, its worth keeping in mind past connotations that you could easily be interpreted as supporting. That being said, you are completely right on your points about it's use

As a person who started wearing alt/Japanese fashion in jr high (2010-2011ish) shows like this drove me insane. It’s literally just someone’s fashion style, like?? Lol
They made such a big deal about it back then but I guess I would say that it wasn’t until really the pandemic that alt fashion actually became a little more mainstream due to tiktok.

The Iron cross isn't a Nazi symbol however it was issued to German soldiers, like the Victoria cross is. It is however used by some far right groups so there is the connotation that it is a racist symbol even though it is not.

Terrifying Doll-Head Lady was clearly ~ eccentric ~ as you said, but seemed to have a genuinely good personality. She laughed for real when people were roasting her; as long as she doesn't start raging inside once the camera shifts, she's probably a bit fun to hang out with.
As long as you don't look too long at the doll heads or the ear situation.
I'm Internet friends with her and she has toned it down these days but she is still into the weirder things (she is probably gonna kill me if she sees this given I live like an hour from her and we are planning on meeting up soon) and likes kitschy cute things and knits and crochets.

heya the iron cross was actually (uhm actually ☝️🤓, sorry) reintroduced for military honors (since it also was in use way way before any world war) and a politically correct, newly minted version of the iron cross now exists. however, the version the girl was wearing does look quite old-fashioned and therefore nazi-like, but while i just wanted to touch on the fact jack said it hadnt been used since ww2, i also wanted to mention that it is just part of heavy metal subculture fashion as a symbol of rebellion and is in the vast majority of cases not used as a hate symbol and its said without any accompanying symbols it cannot be determined as such

People forget that the people featured signed up to this show knowing full well what it was. It ran for several series and it was no secret you'd be made fun of and given a totally new look on the show. It wasnt just random people pulled off the street and bullied publicly. As a teen I was into alternative fashion and quite a few infamous faces from the alternative world featured on this show. It was so exciting to see them appear on your telly before social media was so big
I remember my mams mate who was a man that dressed as a woman went on this show and they just turned him back into a man and went that’s class. Imagine that being on national telly now.
