- In light of the current scandal surrounding Mike Bickle and the International House of Prayer, a number of former leaders have sat down to discuss why they have had to get involved in the present situation.
When John first came into leadership at ihop he got to know my department head and me (the assistant) for a few weeks, then sat me down and said that I should pray about a “cut off date” for staying on staff at ihop. It was so wise and ultimately gave me the push I needed to reevaluate my “calling” and resign from a very dysfunctional situation. I very much respect the things this man of God has to say.
Dean’s story about the man’s marriage is shocking and so sad. I’m horrified at Mike’s response and the evil levels of manipulation he and Stuart were operating in.
Praise the Lord the full truth is coming to light . Praying fror all who are hurting through this crisis. Blessings 🙏🇨🇦

If you are looking for this in leaders then I feel sorry for you. These guys are not interesting in the truth or furthering the kingdom of God. They are solely interested in their own personal gain. Righteous people don't do this. David showed us how to deal with bad leaders. And these guys aren't following that approach at all.

It was 1998, and I was at a Christian Conference in Dallas, Texas. As always, I arrived an hour early so that I could pray for the meeting. I sat my things on seat on the 3rd roll, and knelt on the floor the pray, when I felt a man staring at me with such lust I could not keep my focus on God. I looked up to see Mike Bickle looking at me like I was his next "meal". I sat down, as he continued to stare at me with lust. I pointed to his wedding ring, and shook me head no. He looked devastated. During the lunch break, he came to the edge of the stage and motioned for me to come close. One of the things he told me was that his wife was dying, and that God had instructed him to find another wife. I told him that if he looked at me again, I would start screaming at him so loud that everyone in the huge conference would hear me. Whew! That worked! 26 years later, I keep hearing that he said the thing about his wife dying, to draw other women into his bed.
I am very disappointed you did not call him out on this or make known to the leadership and tried to prevent other future victims
@@joannatam6567I discussed with others who were at the conference, and had seen our conversation. None of us knew who was in charge of the conference. One of the attendees spoke to his pastor about it. But his own pastor did not know who was in charge of the conference. My own pastor had seen the ad, for the conference, in a Christian magazine that he showed to anyone he thought might be interested in going to it.
If only we taught all young women to be this bold.

Thank you for this. It brings so much clarity to this situation. Many of us are grieving out here over what’s happening - how did it all go so wrong? How could it all be hidden in plain site? Or hidden NOT in plain site. Predators are very skilled at covering up their tracks- and it appears that Mike Bickle is one of the best. So incredibly and colossally disappointing. SO disappointing to devastating levels. My heart grieves for these brave men who’ve had to wade through this cesspool of quicksand. God sustain them. Let Your truth prevail! Wow! Just wow! This helps a lot! I suspected this type of behavior in the leadership at IHOP because I was in a similar "don't ask don't tell" church and the stories coming out jive with that type of😮 leadership style.

I want to thank you for the way in which you have discussed this, with a heart of grief, with desire for redemption in all its forms, and without pride of opinion and partnership with the spirit of the accuser. I love Kansas City, Mike Bickle in the prayer birthed from Kansas City, and the Body of Christ at large. We need to see the ground skirmishes caused by sin and the air force attacks by the enemy of the church to defeat her. This is a global issue for the body of Christ, and I appeal to apostolic fathers- especially some from Africa who have learned to wiel their weapons well in warfare against the church - to lovingly help the church in America. We need wise global and loving fathers to being their wisdom, in love, and strategies of Heaven to the global church right now.
Thank you for sharing these things, putting your reputation on the line for truth, clarity, healing, and transparency. We hope the current ELT and status of these investigations will be thorough and involve a true third-party that you all agree to, but I’m not holding my breath. Thanks John and Dean for coming forward. It would not be surprising if there were hundreds of victims. Back in the 80's I was involved in a church that was taken over by a novice. What you are saying is deja vu to me. We got out just before the home-groups were tasked with carving 3-ft high chocolate statures in praise of the pastor's birthday. When you know what to look for it is easy to spot. It's all in the Bible.
This is so tragic my heartbreaks for all that have put their hearts and souls into IHOP all the friendships all based on the vain imaginations of one man! Thank you for putting yourselves out there and standing up for what is right, good and pure! My thoughts on IHOP is that Bickle received a false prophecy if he even received it I have my doubts because of his lying! He moves to Kansas City and then the Kansas City so called prophets are getting attention. They go around to local churches telling those people that God wants them to shut down their churches and join “Bickles church” God would never say that do you really think God would have these pastors give up their callings and hand it to another man? Our God is a Holy God! He does not speak to or anoint nor does He activate gifts to those who are in active sin. He hates sin! Then Bickle says an Angel came to him told him what to do and the 24 hr prayer and worship came to be. This is not something new pagan religions do this also. You know an angel appeared to Mohammad and an Angel appeared to Joseph Smith! Paul said “ if anyone comes preaching another gospel than what we preach even an Angel Do Not Believe Him!”Bickle teaches his own gospel! I’m sorry but IHOP was built on sinking sand because of one man’s vain imaginations! We call it a movement or community but Jim Jones, David Koresh, and Warren Jeffs all had their movements and communities. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has been lost in all this not just IHOP but many other churches also. It’s not about making trips to heaven or speaking with angels or talking to Jesus face to face! Today’s gospel has been so watered down it’s very much centered on self everyone wants some higher spiritual awareness some kind of supernatural experience with God because men like Bickle tell their stories then telling people you can have what I have then sell it in their books, CDs, enroll in my school, or take classes we will teach you all for a fee! A gift of God cannot be taught it is a gift that only God can perfect in that person. If we would just read our bibles not according to man’s teaching or any preconceived ideas but according to God which is having the Holy Spirit teach He will guide us into all truth! She was 19 and he was in his 40s. She was an impressionable teenager, he was her pastor, her dad’s friend, a father figure, her spiritual leader. It’s betrayal in the deepest level. But that’s not why we’re here. We’re here cause he’s not truly repentant, he’s tried to cover up and manipulate his way out of this. I’m glad you guys are speaking up and standing strong for victims now. I don’t understand why it took so long for you to see some signs of Bickle’s cultish ways. Why did he need so many locked doors leading to his office? Why did no one recognize the ELT as his “yes” men, or worse, his henchmen?

I think they separated Mike for another reason back in 2020 is because there is alot of money that is being shifted around that is never accounted for and grounds for imprisonment if it came to light. Just my opinion.

What a noble and caring thing you are doing to stand together in support for the truth and the JD’s. It’s what Jesus would do! I can respect leaders like you, you are truly being an example of what leading should look like. I wish I had a team like this behind me when I was fighting through my own story of CSA many years ago, it would have helped me so much, but God fought for me and gave me a husband that became a tremendous support, and helped me get through it. In that situation he has always been my hero.
I started following this story closely as an outsider when I read JD’s story on the Roy’s report and heard that she was being told “his wife was going to die and he was going to marry me” I was told that too by the one that targeted and groomed me. So this part of her story really caught my attention. To be told something like this is so disgusting and confusing.
I have been praying for this situation and for the advocates. One night when I was praying I heard the Lord tell me to refer back to the book of the prophet Amos and read it and that in that book I would find parallels to what was going on at IHOPKC. Amos was very big on promoting social justice and righteousness, and I believe that God’s righteousness in this scandal has to prevail over evil and wickedness! As I watched this video where you were describing the affair of MB’s son and MB being involved in some capacity with the same woman I was reminded of what I read in the book of Amos.
They pushed their faces into the ground and walked on them. They stopped listening to suffering people. Fathers and sons had sexual relations with the same woman. They ruined my holy name. Amos 2:7😭😭😭

Sorry, Jesus does not do this. Read Revelations chapters 2 and 3. If these guys would say what Mike Bickle did and then talk about reconciliation, then that's on the path of what Jesus would do. These guys only want to mount up accusation against IHOPKC so that people will abandon it. They desire is to destroy IHOPKC. Listen to their language. No words of reconciliation. That's not righteousness.

Thank you for handling this with integrity. I have to be honest with you. I've followed this "prophetic move" that came through Bob Jones, Paul Cain, and the 'Kansas City Prophets' - that Mike denies... more lies. I'm 75. I saw it happen.
Personally, I think these so-called 'prophetic gifts' are the worst thing that ever happened to the church. We can't tell the difference between prophecy and divination. Just like Israel of old; worshipping God in the way He has made clear was not enough. We followed the goats up to the high places; lighting our own fires.

I've learned hard lessons in the name of 'intimacy with Jesus.' All I met were seducing spirits and doctrines of demons.
If we had stayed within the confines of God's true Words 📖 these things would never have happened.
But His Word wasn't sufficient for us. We demanded "more, Lord!" What we craved for was something else. So that's what God gave us - sending us into deep deception. 😭💔
Jesus said though if we ask the father for a fish he won't give us a snake. I find it hard to believe that God responded to calls for more of his spirit, more of his presence, more love for him and others even more spiritual gifts with giving a deception. It doesn't match the character of God revealed by Jesus.

The problem though is nowhere in scripture is the church urged to seek more "intimacy" with Jesus but rather we are to grow in faith, obedience and character revealing the fruit of the spirit. But we have been addicted to showing off the GIFTS of the spirit for popularity and admiration of leaders.
John 14:21 (NET) The person who has my commandments and obeys them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will reveal myself to him.”
We have made an idol of mysticism and looked to signs and wonders to prove if God loves us or not. Jesus has become our "boyfriend" where we equate "passion for God" like falling in love which is a worldly and fleshly idea of love based on EROS not AGAPE.
Satan's second temptation of Christ was a religious one using a cherry picked verse. He puts Jesus at the top of the temple (the height of religion) and says "prove you're the son of God by forcing a miracle. Do this risky behavior and see this scripture says God has to save you." He was soundly rebuked with a balancing scripture. The whole use of scripture that cherry picks and ignores the balance of scripture is demonic!
Godliness with CONTENTMENT is great gain (1 Tim 6:6). But mysticism leaves you empty if you aren't already content with God's spirit in your heart.
Revival is never mentioned in the NT but the great commission is: preach the gospel and teach my disciples to obey my commands and "Lo I will be with you always." (Matt 28:19-20). He is ALREADY with us always... Why are we so discontent? Because we've been told a lie that to live for God is a romance not a commitment. Ask any married couple if romance keeps them together. No the church fails at marriage just like the society because they have idolized romance over character and commitment.
There is a promise of "times of refreshing" though:
Acts 3:19-20 (NET) Therefore repent and turn back so that your sins may be wiped out,
so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and so that he may send the Messiah appointed for you - that is, Jesus.
We have put the cart before the horse and wonder why we aren't getting anywhere.

Avoiding conflict of interest is such an important principle in leadership.
It makes sense if Mike and his son were both having their way with her.
Thank you to the men and women in the previous clip for standing up for the truth, for the courage to speak up, to care, the openness and love and stand in reality. Mostly standing up for the victims. It restored some hope in my heart. Sadly this is much bigger then the victims and i am sure it is unspeakable pain, confusion and grief for them.
It’s about power…Sadly many of us putting some leaders which are charismatic on god like pedestal and give our internal discernment up and others protect them, Some with good intent, others because we want to be “good” and hope to receive a “blessing”. Some because they want power. Sunshine and light brings clarity and healing. Jesus said he came to set the captives free. He said the truth will set us free. He came to forgive sin. He said he came NOT to judge, but to save….
Why are we so afraid to be honest in church some environments, that’s my honest question?

One thing this current IHOP drama reveals is the lack of Holy Spirit led 'leadership' on any level. All of these folk that were 'deceived' by Bickle would likely claim to be mature, Spirit led Christians. Since the Holy Spirit is in fact HOLY He would not be present in this 'work'. So how come all of the 'leaders' are so unfamiliar with the Holy Spirit they couildn't tell what was going on at IHOP? Short answer they are like the believers in the church at Laodicea who think they have it all together, yet are blind, wretched and naked. This whole drama is as much a condemnation on what is passing for mature Christianity as it is on Bickle or Jane or any of the other players in this bit of theatre. For all of the 'fame' around IHOP, 24 hr prayer performances and all, what have they actually DONE? They clearly are not producing mature, discerning believers who are doing the work of ministry, as Eph4:12 commands, nor the type of service 1Cor. 14:26 commands..
Exactly... they all missed the mark and look like a clown show. It is so ridiculous. Confront the sin. Correct it. And move on... get the folks who are supposed be out, OUT. But this is why non-believers mock us...

Where is the simply language and character of Christ likeness here. When I was there at the dedication of IHOP in the beginning. People came to write scripture on the floor before the new carpet was laid. I was lead to write boldly before each of the front doors Isaiah 66 v 2. “These are the ones I look upon those of a humble and contrite spirit who tremble at my WORD.” Also let’s look at 2 Corinthians 7 v1. “ Let us cleanse ourselves of all defilement of flesh and spirit perfecting HOLINESS in the FEAR of the LORD!!!!
Whatever happened to discernment? Did the leader's not have the Spirit of God? Especially being so closed to Bickle. You never know the secret life of a man. But thank God for the Holy Spirit. He will show you something is wrong. THISS INFO SHOULD HAVE COME OUT YEARS AGO...

True Prophecy from God is both foretelling and forthtelling (truth telling). With all of IHOP’s emphasis on “prophecy” how can it be that they never received a true prophecy from God of the evil in their midst? Did God forget to send the message, or was the leadership so focused on using prophecy to build the enterprise that they were not open to hearing truth from God? This what happens when “leaders” serve a master other than God!

I'm glad to hear John speak. Would have loved to hear him speak much more or in his own video. A church shouldn't be under a parachuch org. A healthy board of elders is so important. We came in mid 2019 and never had any idea all of this was going on. It's sad. Was Mike's son still a part of or member of the church? Then Matt 18 should have been in play. However, if a church is going to do this, the whole body needs to submit to it. I have never been a part of a church that does it correctly. But it's biblical, and I wholeheartedly agree with that. Mike has stepped down. To John's point, why, at this time, is this the public's business? I ask this questions, sincerely.
So that the public can know to sow into good soil v corrupted, rotten soil.

These men are heroes of the faith! They will not stand with corruption and ongoing sin in leadership, bless these leaders and all the good courageous leaders past and present at IHOPKC who will hold evil intentions of men accountable! There is too much tolerance in churches without church discipline. Glad and it’s refreshing to see some churches take a sinful lifestyle seriously enough to confront it.
I agree, however, the method of church discipline is just as important as the discipline itself. God won’t tolerate what is going on in this video. See my comment just under yours (when comments are sorted “Newest”).

The last 20 minutes reminded me of Psalms 55;13 Leadership is a very big responsibility. But getting burned by someone you love and trust, can be almost unbearable. Bringing out truth at right times are important, and could even be life saving.

As I've listened to so many interviews surrounding this I come back to the same reality that no one wants to speak the word of abuse. Both gentlemen in this interview use the terminology of isolation regarding Mike and those victims. Abusers typically use as one of their tools isolating the victim, so that the victim has no true voice to protect themselves from deception.
wow. tip of the iceberg is what i heard in spring 2023 relating to a separate issue involving sexual misconduct of a leader and clergy abuse in oklahoma. it was if i heard it audibly in my right ear. it was weighty and serious. at the time i didn't know if it was just related to my personal situation OR a systemic problem in the body of Christ. i now know it was both.

(ALSO -- IS IT TRUE that unlike the promised "immediate and permanent severing of ties w/ Bickle", it's said that Bickle and Stuart have attended every meeting of the ELT since!)

It occurs to me that what's really needed is for IHOP itself at the very highest level to very definitively and publicly separate themselves from any association w Mike Bickel (apart from some truly genuine sign of repentance),if IHOP wants to have any credibility at all.Basically they need to put him out of the church like it says in Matthew 18.

@@andysung1026 seems that they are all more concerned with what new positions they could have elsewhere. God forgive me if I'm wrong - but that is what this all sounds like. I agree - stay and clean the house instead of opening all the dirt to be seen outside. The non believers only laugh at the church
