This course is designed for people who would like to receive the foundation training in Visual Arts. In Florence and optional in two other Italian locations . The summer period in which the course is held allows spending a lot of class hours practicing in outdoor painting and drawing along with many studio hours dedicated to working with the models, anatomy and various studio subjects such as constructive drawing, introduction to color science, and many others.

The mission of the Florence Classical Arts Academy is to teach fundamental principals, methods, and techniques of classical art, diligently transmitted over the centuries since the Italian Renaissance. Our academic program in the Florence Classical Arts Academy provides thorough training in anatomy, composition, chromatics, perspective, painting, constructive drawing, and sculpture and study of the works of Old Masters. With this solid framework, students can thus develop their own individual style and creative expression, ​becoming in essence New Masters.

🔷 In the second year of the program you will go into in-depth studying of the portraiture and portraiture with hands with live model. You will learn about the anatomy structure of the human head, facial parts, proportions of the main modules. You will explore portraiture from different angles and discover all the key points according to the constructive method. You will work both in drawing with tone and in painting technique, learning not only about the head but also about the hands. The course will provide detailed explanation on how to build the volume, understand and show perspective correctly, and how to depict three-dimensionality of the head and the hands. The program will as well include the copy practice of the artworks of Old Master.
