They’ll probably update it to work properly similar to Sunshine in 3D all stars
That can work ❤
It didn’t. They never fixed it.
@@RealziesCuts What do you mean? 3D All Stars was updated to support the Gamecube controller like the original, analog FLUDD spraying and all, I just tested it myself a couple weeks ago.
@RealziesCuts Yes, it did. I own 3D All-Stars, and it works perfectly with the GameCube controller now.
@@AprilTeniente-eu1mj The game was updated post-launch to add GC controller support.
That's a shame, but who knows? Maybe they'll update it later on to add GameCube controller support.
They did do that for 3D All-Stars, so there is a precedent for that sort of support for GameCube Rereleases.
@@Satellaview1889 Yeah but those games were just ports and didn't feature any additional buttons right? I'd imagine this is different in that regard since the controller doesn't have enough buttons. I mean I guess they can do it with button combos or something but idk if they'd bother.
A gamecube game needs an update to use a gamecube controller
8BitDo has a wireless adapter thing you can plug your Gamecube controller into that allows the Switch to recognize it as a normal Pro Controller instead of a USB one, allowing you to remap the buttons like an actual Pro Controller!
This
I might get a Gamecube controller for switch, and I'll also Paper Mario ttyd for my birthday, just to see if it works with the switch gamecube controller.
Yeah, those are really easy to find nowadays for relatively cheap
and they’ll definitely work as they have an added Z-button over the L-button.
One of Yoshi's attacks won't work well without the ZL button.
Stampede requires the ZL button.
@@CesarTorres61296 That's the one I'm talking about. I forgot the name of the attack while I was writing my comment for some reason.
You realize this game was originally running on the gamecube, right?
@@IAmNotASandwich453 Yeah, but the Switch remake requires you to press ZL and ZR for Stampede, which is impossible on a GameCube controller assuming the game will never get official GameCube controller support.
So apparently ZL and L both work for that attack, so that is inaccurate information.
Why Nintendo does not put in no brainer features like this absolutely baffles me. This is Mario Sunshine in 3D All Stars all over again.
Here's hoping it's at least added at one point like Mario Sunshine in 3D all-stars
I'm curious if the GameCube controller will be compatible with the Switch successor. Nintendo's kept it going for so long, no need to stop at this point. Especially if the Switch 2 ends up being backwards compatible.
Seeing how the Wii U one works on the Switch, there's no reason it shouldn't.
As long Smash is popular in nintendo consoles, the gamecube controller existance won't cease
When Nintendo release a new console, Smash Bros eventually follows.
N64: Super Smash Bros
Gamecube: Melee
Wii: Brawl
3ds/Wii U: Smash 4
Switch (current): Ultimate. *"Everyone is Here!"*
If a console carries Smash Bros., Nintendo will give it GameCube controller support.
I gots my powerA GC controller.
I got my pdp GC controller
Same.
Same here my dude
PowerA is a crap brand. Surprised your controller still works.
@@PhilipMarcYT It depends on how well it's treated.
Wish they would update the Pikmin 1&2 hd ports so you can use a GameCube controller
why am i not surprised
I have one of those Gamecube looking pro controllers that have all the buttons from the switch and it's all mapped onto a Gamecube controller template.
Really excited to play this!
...how is the Nitro Deck GameCube like at all? It doesn't actually FEEL like a GameCube controller, nor has the layout of one. The only similarity is just the colors. A much better example would be something like the Nyxi Wizard.
Yeah about when Mario folds up, it was the R button on the GameCube originally by holding it down and use the control stick to move in the direction when you are folded.
Wish nintendo would just add a ZL button to there future gamecube controllers
There's some wireless battery powered ones that have the extra buttons.
I actually just ordered the Power A GameCube controller because of this video. Thanks for the info.
On the wireless GameCube controllers they made for the switch, the back trigger buttons r mapped to to ZL and ZR so it can be played with that version of the controller to recreate the classic experience
Joey again yay
Please be the only one that does voice over your voice out of all of Game Xplain is the best
Good thing I have a GameCube themed pro controller.
if you have the 8bitdo GCN adapter, it works mostly fine - you can remap buttons like any other controller, and the triggers become ZL/ZR natively - the only change i made was to turn the Z button into left bumper, because while right bumper brings up Status, L brings up the partner wheel, which is much more useful.
The only main problem with that is... the gamecube controller is not a pro controller. the vibration motor is not the same. So when you walk through water/grass/certain areas of cortez's cave... the controller tries to do a very slight vibration to simulate the feeling of that. Which the GCN controller cannot do, so it just constantly vibrates the entire time! It's kind of annoying, because it still exists even with vibration turned OFF in settings!
Ive been using the PowerA controller for this, and it's felt pretty good tbh
Or you can use the Pro Game cube contoller.......next mind u mention it.
My NYXI is making this game all that much more fun to replay, highly recommend.
I agree! It's awesome!
I wish they updated the Gamecube controller the modern day way instead. That'd be great.
There are some GameCube inspired pro controllers out there like the 8bitDo, but an official one would be perfection
Technically there are. They are just made by licensed third parties instead of Nintendo themselves.
Hopefully they will update it one day. I’m sure something will work!
They can just add an update so it can be supported like Smash Bros and 3D All-Stars
They ended up patching Gamecube support in the Mario Sunshine release on 3D All Stars, so hopefully the same happens here
I knew it would not be a 1 to 1 match due to the extra buttons but I wish they had learned from 3D All-Stars and made it so that it was fully functional from the start, hoping for an update like with that game.
This is why I have a custom made GameCube controller joy-cons
Thats pretty cool. Did you make them yourself?
I have a GameCube Pro controller, so I’m set to play this game with it.
The only thing that makes that grip a "GameCube" controller Is the coloring
The Nyxi or Doyoki Gamecube Joycons are an amazing alternative
I have my own special Gamecube controllers that works on both wii and Switch, so it's bound to work. I'm just hoping they work on Switch 2 somehow.
Nintendo really perfected Gaming controllers with the GameCube.
I have a corded made-for-switch controller I plan on using tomorrow!
Does it work?
@@moony_97 yes! But no rumble 😞
Maybe the wireless GameCube controller for switch works good as well
It has as many buttons as the switch does and it's exactly like a pro controller.
“So just remap the-“ 😳
🤚😫✋-AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!
GameCube Themed Pro Controller *
WE ARE SO BACK MAN 😭😭😭
Nin: Why would we enable that by an update when we can just charge them a new GC controller on our NSO page....wait, what's that?....! We're in a chat?!......
(Exit)
When the Nintendo Switch 2 Console comes out I want it to play GameCube games online
Luckily for me, I have the Switch Gamecube Pro Controller.
I recommend PdP Mario gamecube :)
Nyxi Wizard or plug your adapter to a Magic NS
What about the n64 classic controller?
With all the promotion North America is doing to relate this game to the original game I'm shocked there is no native GameCube support like Smash Ultimate
It's out?!?!?!?!?!?
i got the doyoky gamecube joycon
Good thing I have an official Nintendo switch GameCube controller …….. they released years ago
I play with my nyxi wizard Pikmin 1+2 and Metroid Prime.
I Mean Do You Really Need Partner Hints?
One of those videos that the answer is found on the top comment. No point in doing an almost two-minute video to just say "not properly".
does the GC controller work on MK8?
Yes, it does.
@@SaltyToad00 thank you
Buy this instead Nintendo joy con game cube controller for switch bought it last year and it’s amazing 🤩 for retro gaming and gives you all the controls for new and old games have 8bito controller as well and it’s amazing but if you want that old game cube feel without compromising this is the best controller for switch in my opinion and it makes your switch look like a huge handheld GameCube it’s worth the price bought two just to keep one for backup
Hope they update it! I enjoyed playing Sunshine on 3D All Stars with a Gamecube controller back in the Summer of 22’ . That was amazing
No way,
I always find the GameCube controller very awkward.
Switch pro controller for me all the way.
Does the GameCube controllers have vibration the answer is no Nintendo forgot to put vibration they know vibration is important they didn’t forget to add vibration to the Nintendo 64 controller uk sure when they add GameCube games online service they will not forget to add vibration to their GameCube online controllers
i have a switch gamecube controller lol
NO GameCube 🎮
YES YES YES YES Nintendo Switch 🎮
Use the 8bitdo Bluetooth adaptor for GameCube and Wii Classic Controller. It will trick the Switch into thinking it is an original Switch Pro controller and therefore let you remap all the buttons. ❤🎉🎉❤🎉❤
Ridiculous input delay
@@MusicJunkie37 I will go test it, but I don’t belive it was any different than any other Bluetooth controller.
@@SturmAH ah I know why I have input delay, it's when you have another Bluetooth audio device connected too
But what would you remap anyway?
@@MusicJunkie37 Oh, often Switch games have B as jump and Y as run/attack, but now you can put jump on A and run/attack on B on the NGC controller. Swap the shoulder buttons or the stick push mapped to a useable button. I use it a lot! 😃
💀
Ok so after testing around with things myself. This video is kind of false. Literally the only thing you can't use with the gamecube controller is the partner hint feature, but if you're a veteran player like myself that's not gonna matter to you more than likely. Also doing moves in battle that require the ZL button can just be done with the L button, they function the exact same, so there's no move restrictions at all. Same goes for R and ZR they both function the exact same in battles. So have fun kiddos!
I have a GameCube-style Switch controller, which I bought specifically for this reason.
Does the N64 controller work on this game too?
The N64 controller doesn't have some of the buttons needed to play this game.
@@sebastian6898 Got cha.
No big loss really, it’s not the type of game that benefits from a very specific or ergonomic controller
I think they might add an update at some point
ok gamexplain. i can confrime the gamecube controller works allmost prefect. i beat the whole game with my gamecube controller. theres only 2 things you can.t do with gamecube controller. 1 you can.t do hints you need ZL for that. and 2. you can.t use yoshi stampee move. you need both ZL and ZR. everything thing els works fine. when i did not know were to go. i just go home manu and change to switch pro controller to press ZL for the hint and change back to gamecube controller. its not a big deal for yoshi move onless hes your main partner you alway use. for me its no big deal. my main partner is koops.
You can use Yoshi's stampede move, ZL & L and ZR & R work the same in battles.
@@MusicJunkie37 nice. yeah i did not know tell today. it don.t show on the screen. now i can use yoshi stampede move on my gamecube conroller. now the gamecube controller works 99 % in paper mario 1000 year door. the 1% we can.t use hint. we need ZL for that.
I'm using an xbox controller
Still think the triggers should be the main L and R buttons
Nah. The pro controller is fine with me.
Too bad that in the remake, while you have a conversation, you can press the z i think button, to go to the immitiade previous conversations
Why did you even bother? The gamecube adapter was only made for SMASH BROS. It is not going to work for other games.
It was made only for Smash on WII U. On Switch it's a more generic controller.
This is embarrassing.
