In this video we are showing you how to remove and replace the Rear Bumper Cover on a Hyundai Santa Fe Second Generation.
It is not very complicated procedure and it should not take you more than 10-20 minutes to do it after you see the video and you know what to expect.
You will need a phillips screwdriver ( if you have one with short handle you will not even need to remove the tire), also, you will need pliers and flat head screwdriver for the clips, 10 mm wrench or socket with ratchet.
If the bumper cover is damaged we have a video on our channel that will show you how to fix it. You can check it out by clicking on this link: • How to fix CRACKED Bum...

Cant thank you enough. I had my bumper pop out from a low impact collision and the shops here in Los Angeles that I checked (3 of them) all wanted 900-1100 to fix. I watched you video and started at 12 and finished by 1:45 having had no previous experience ever working on a car body. I am going to take the money and spend it on a weekend in Lake Arrowhead with the wife instead! Thank you once again. Your video was amazingly good!

This was great. That little trick at the beginning with the ratchet works great - the space in between the fender and the tire really is too small even for a "shorty" screwdriver.
For my 2012 Santa Fe, it was slightly different:
Instead of the four bolts on the bottom, there were three plastic brackets attached with a Philips head screw. These were hard to access so I lowered the spare to the ground first. That gave me plenty of room to get a screwdriver in there and I was able to loosen the brackets.
Peeling the panel off was a bit more difficult than shown here. I had to lift up here and there and jiggle it quite hard before the panel came loose. You do want to be firm but careful while doing this - I think I broke one of the 'clips' in the process. It might be safer if you have a friend to help push up on the panel while you jiggle and pull it.
For me I only needed to replace the rear driver side reflector (which had broken in a fender-bender). I was able to peel the bumper panel back enough to reach inside without having to remove the entire thing.
Putting the panel back on was easier than taking it off. Just firmly press in place & a couple of whacks with your fist while pushing up on the panel should get it to pop back into place. Then just put the screws back in the order you took them out.

I'm sorry, but what I really wanted to see was what the bumper looked like as it was coming off and if anything more needed to be removed for me to install a reverse sensor set I purchased. Unfortunately the 4 ads that your website popped up at that precise moment pretty well covered most of the screen and ruined any chance of that. And, as the other user pointed out, you did not mention disconnecting the wiring to the fog lights. You could have added those 4 viedo promos after the bumper was off and almost on the floor. Thank-you for the very good underside shots of screws and fasteners though.

Great video. You just forgot that after losing all screws and before taking off the bumper you need to disconnect wiring from fog lights.

Someone must have removed that bumper previously... because there are two additional bolts (in addition to the ones they remove) that hold the bumper on... they are located on the left and right "ears" just below the corner of the tailgate. You can see them in the video...

Do you know, how you get to them? I had to remove mine, but could not figure out how... THX

    • @rvborgh
      @rvborgh Před 4 lety +1

@@danielcancar1423 i think you can get to them from underneath. However, i did not know about them since i went by this video and they neglected to mention them... and by pulling the bumper with some force they broke off. These screws mount into a push type bushing that goes through the hole.
The plastic screws used on the bottom of the left and right sides strip out quite easily as well.
All in all i think i'm going to replace these factory fasteners with better ones as it seems that Hyundai cheaped out on fasteners.

Last 10 seconds of the video are covered by ads! Also, you mention for the four bolts underneath: they "tend to get rusty". They're attached to plastic bars. The bars bend when the bolts are rusty and I am finding the bolts impossible to remove!
