This is dope fr. I like the focus on theory...we gotta stop running away from it lol
Thank you bro!! And 100% man haha
100% Agree with you.
Facts!!! 💯💯💯
I've been doing some of these by ear not knowing what I was playing, it's cool to have it all put into theoretical context!
Dope, for sure, it’s always nice to have the theory behind it too! Being self taught i’m still catching up on theory
Those sounds work so perfectly together. That bass pluck sounds beautiful.
This is mad appreciated..been struggling with bass for a long time and you very clearly explained what I’ve been hearing in my head for years.
Your tutorials have really helped my beat making! Thank you!
Been watching tutorials for 15 years and this is by far the dopest one yet. Thank you
It's great to learn things from someone who can really play, make it much more understanding and enjoyable. Thanks You!
Very good Tutorial!! And you're explaining it smoothly.
I love theory in my tutorials! I learn better that way. You won me over when you talked about formula. Many blessings to you for your assistance in my learning process!
Hey, I really have to learn this. And I have been trying to learn it for such a long time. I don't know why I've been holding off on clicking the link, but I'm so very glad I did. This is what I've been hoping to add to my sound for quite some time now. One of the best videos and most informative production videos I've seen, hopefully I can finally re-commit just before the summer starts. Great video, thank you.
loved this step by step! So helpful! Subscribedddd!
Great way to relay the info. So thankful for this.
Nice bruh! very musical phat R&B bass line and the #7 pass tone is dope very subtle but very smooth thank you great job!
Great video man , preach it ! scales , scales scales ! Ive been playing a long time and all through the eighties could never afford tuition chord books and scale books were expensive items , working blind and muddling through kind of kills of any inspiration , but thank god for the internet ! this information is free!
I really like this video. It put some things in focus with RnB basses.
this is a master class on developing a soulful bass line. I will study this. thank you!
Brilliant lesson, thank you for sharing
Such a helpful video, thanks so much! I'm glad someone is actually focusing on theory 😆.
You earned my sub ! You killed this tutorial. Straight to the point. Exactly what I needed. Thank you 🙏🏽💪🏽💯
Yoooo thank uuuuu!!! Needed this!!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and gift of music. It’s appreciated.
Much love bro! Thanks for watching and supporting! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I'm a drummer & love tight bass lines. The video & explanation/playing is tight and on point!!
Awww thank you for this! I need a good bassline for a song I’m working on and now I have a guide!! Excellent tutorial! :)
Hey Sunny! That’s awesome to hear, glad I could share this with you!
Such a well presented tutorial. Also a great plug for music theory. I have been sliding by for years with ears alone and I know I will grow exponentially when I learn my scales proper. You were killing that bass line improv by the way Brother!
Yo Joseph! Appreciate it bro! 100% man
Def be sure to figure out (for the most part) the scales that are EXACTLY the same even in different keys lol!!
I spent WAY too much time writing shit out (that's how I commit to memory best) just to realize I wrote like 40 scales that were all played the exact same way on a guitar... Same notes/frets and everything, just with dif root position
Appreciate the video Yah has used you have inspire to further my piano scales and my production skills & really dive into daily. I’’ve been dabbling for years Its all click now. Its been exciting feeling. LoVe Shalom Bro!
Honestly my favorite person to listen to. Beats and music theory are dope. Have learned a lot from listening to this 'Guy ' :)
The way you explain things is absolutely brilliant
I’ve wanted to know how to write baselines for years and you summed it all up in one video, you are a God send, we appreciate you.. your MIDI pack is amazing too. Keep up the great work bruv💯🙏🏾👊🏾
Thank you so much for your kind words man, means a lot! Happy to hear you found the video useful and like my MIDI pack!! Much love! 🙏🏾👊🏾
Great tips and tutorial!
so well explained! thank you so much stefan!!
Thank you!
Quick and comprehensive - and that last bass line was it!
Thank you man!
Great video!
Thanks for helping us out!
You’re welcome brother, thanks for supporting man 🙏🏾
Appreciate you big dog 💯❤️
love your vids man
Thank you man! Much love!! 🙏🏾
Great Video, I always knew a formula existed and you put it where "The Goate's (ME) can get it" Moving forward Root - 3 -6 -7 is how I'm starting all my basslines. Thank-you with the most respect!!!! -KD
so dope thanks
Yooo this was dope Stefan! You broke down the theory of the methods and showed how to do it in the process. More videos like this and R&B! ✊🏾
Thank you bro, appreciate it man!
Hi Stefan. Love watching your videos. There so insightful. Can you tell me wht are you using to make your audio come out in stereo in your videos please. Feel like I’ve tried everything and nothing is working. Mine comes out in mono smh. Please help…
Fire video. Thank you
Thanks man! 🙏🏾
Very intuitive bro! Please don't change..
Thank you! Glad you thought so bro! 🙏🏾
Dope! Great job bro!
Thanks man 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
youre very talented man
This is dope bruh thanks
Thanks bro!
Correct guy 🙌🏾
bro ur incredible... thank u....
Niiiiice!! Super Helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Just found this thank you
Thanks bro... great tutorial
Thank you bro!!
Just from the video itself I'm gonna grab that M32. Thanks for this.
Sweet little keyboard! Love it!
Thanks for the help... i mainly write bass line on SP1200, and it's not easy :) (have to play all by ear, using plastic drum trigger pads)
Just commenting to prod the algorithm. Nice work bro
Ah bless you bro! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 appreciated it!
Let’s go!!! 🙌🏾
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Great vid. Can u show how u made that reverse guitar loop? It was super dope
ive been trying the hardest to incorporate these basslines in my beats, bless!
Glad I could share this with you man!
An another amazing video brother. The reverse loop guitar in the background where can I find it? Or some like it? Thanks brother.
Love it
Thanks bro!
Thanks 🙏
Thanks for watching!!
Bro your a genius! I love it!!! It’s so....QUINTESSENTIAL! 😂🤣
😂 much love bro! Appreciate you man! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Yessir I needed this video and I haven't even watched it 😤
Haha 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Dat 🔥🔥🔥
Really dope ideas this videos is stellar. Little did you know the guy who produced Boo’d up is Rance 1500 who runs a music academy and tells his students to learn their scales all day everyday 🤣😂. Big ups tho I’m saving this video so I can keep coming back to it. 🙏🏽
Where can I hear this quintessential beat? Beautiful
That’s what’s up. Scales are very important in music
100% bro!!
Nice vid bro
Thanks man!!
Thanks Stefan, quick question - at 6:45, when leading down a semitone from a note above, what chords would you use in this scenario if you wanted something to accompany the bass? Some music I hear will use extended chords with their passing bass notes, but I never know which to use because it kind of leaves the main key you're in.
can you make a video on how you made the sound loop for beginners?
Yo! My English brother. I am enjoying your r&b videos. But can you show us how to get to the change up in the song or bridge like in late 80s and early 90s r&b music
relative 2-5-1 getting into chords other than the I is a great tip
Thanks for the tutorials I find them very quintessential 😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Can you do a video on using augmented chords in RnB?
Sure thanks for the suggestion! I thought I had one, but just realised I only covered diminished and half-diminished chords!
I thought jodeci was finna go oooohyeeeeah! lol! 🔥🔥
Looool 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Dude, loved this video. I have a song in literally the same key, and I'm trying to find a new bass sound for it, and know that I want the same kind of warm, fat analog bass sound like you use in this video. Is this a serum preset?! Love love love this sound!!!
Thank you bro! This is sound is from Native Instruments Super 8. It’s my go to bass at the minute. But I often use once from Monark and U-he Repro. If you have any of those I can point you to the sounds
@@stefanguy if you could point me to some Monark sounds it would be much appreciated 🙏🏽😁
This melody sounds too good!
Can we get the sample of the melody 😳
Nice one Stefan, great tutorial as always! quick question,
Do you ever find that some samples are harder to come up with a bass line for than others?
I mean I know you're a music theory wizard, but personally, I struggle with this sometimes.
Thanks man! And 100%, especially if the sample already has a bassline. In those cases I’ll often try use EQ to filter out as much of the bass as possible. Even still, samples will often limit you in terms of what bass notes you can play if they have long chord progressions. The less chords it has the more freedom you have I’d say. That’s why I like going for simple samples that have 1 or 2 chords in them. Also, I’m not quite the music theory wizard yet, but i’m trying haha. Thank you man!
I love your lessons and I'm thankfull for more this one
8 Months Late But Right On Time. 🤟🏾😎🎹
As an English learner, now I will never get QUINTESSENTIAL out of my mind.
😂 it was the last time I promise lol
It’s a quintessential word 😂😅
😄
looking for those late 90s to early 2000s RnB drums...any idea where to look?
Nice.
Thank you!
💫
Nice
Thanks bro!
LEH GO!!!
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
He's good 👍
Thanks Donny!
nice video. can you make a video on the loop? the one you used in this video.
Thanks bro! Yeah I could possibly do a video on how I made it! It was actually super quick just for this vid haha
@@stefanguy haha... super quick but awesome... i'm more into kpop beats.. make R&B every now and then, so the FXs and techniques i'm still learning alot of them (R&B uses more FXs than kpop at times🤣)
How can I use my online keyboard with this course please thanks
dunno if this is long shot, but those reverse guitars are amazing. Do you mind sharing how you made that? or where the loop is from? Thank you for your work
Use reverb like a lot of reverb
Play the chords as you normally would. If you have any moving notes in the chord, be careful not to do too much too fast....you can add some verb if you like or a nice atmospheric sound adds to the flavor, but doesn't have to be used. Once you get a progression you like......apply reverse to it.....enjoy
🔥💥🔥 I'm not even gonna lie I didn't learn nothing I was over here freestylin' every time the beat came on 😜😂😜 Hahahahahahaaaaaa...
im going to use my moog for the bass
Wish I had one!
I find R&B basslines typically follow a Blues progression, as a bass player. I guess you can write anything you like.
Only 12 minutes but I feel like I have been here for 30 because I am learning so much
This is dope Which bass in super 8 is that
Thanks bro! It's called Daveland
What can you call the super 8 sound in the background? I want to find something similar among the instruments I have.
Great video!!!! Quick question!! When you went to G 2-5-1 didnt you go out of B minor?
Thanks man! So the 2-5-1 is always played in the key of the note you want to arrive at (the 1 in 2-5-1). So if I want to land on C I'd play the 2-5-1 in the key of C (D, G, C). If I want to land on A I'd play the 2-5-1 in the key of A (B, E, A). I hope that makes sense.
However, the notes of the 2-5-1s in this video, were actually in the key of B minor still. As we were just playing bass notes. If we played the corresponding chords, we would have played some notes outside the key.
@@stefanguy Great way of explaining the 2-5-1 concept in this post, I"ve been playing keys for years and I'm still learning how to apply the 2-5-1! Like always Great Vid!!
Low end therapy
Man Stefan you need to create a theory piano course. Im ready to buy
Or maybe I just need to sign up with Melodics
I have something in the works! But yeah def check out melodics. I’ll let everyone know when what i’m cooking is ready!!
@@stefanguy cool
My guy STEFAN
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Quick question just got the mk32 and can't figure out how to use note repeat for my hi hats how do I do that on the mk32 thank you
One thing you could do is use tritone substitution where the 5 should be in 2-5-1 progression. Let the 5 chord stay in the synth and use the tritone substitution in the bass
I’ve heard this before but definitely need to explore and understand it more. Could you point me to any good tutorials or posts on it?
wouldnt this make the bass line sound really crunchy and dissonant?
@@stefanguy I don't know of any specific tutorials on it
@@twodizzy2979 Not necessarily, its not something that would you would use regularly
@@Mr.Nobody-420 ok so its a spice note 🌶
How did I whistle the Bass run down at 8:16 just before you played it haha! #Wavelength #UsualSuspectMovements
how did you do the reversed guitar?
Hi can I get the course please
where i can get these synth bass sounds ?
