I got to hand it to Guel. Most people would have given up, but he persevered and tried to find a way through.
He put up one hell of a fight for being so out matched
He Is good, hes Just constantly outgunned. And as we've seen if he piloted the daribalde himself from the beginning the fight would have been different
Guel is a great fighter, remember he was the top of the hierarchy before he had to fight a Gundam. The Gundam models have always been next level, at the cost of being dangerous to the pilot
as someone studying to be an aerospace engineer its really cool that the regolith played a key part
dont know if its explained in the show but one of the largest hurdles to another moon mission is the fact that lunar regolith is REALLY bad for electrical systems since it easily holds a static charge and will stick to *everything* because of it

Static will stick to anything that can hold even a little bit of charge. Including most insulators. The only solution we've found yet is a complex wiring system and even more complex current to send though to make an electric field that tosses these particles away. Part of the artimes mission research. Not properly dealing with it made the Apollo suits suffer permanent damage
The moon's bombardment of radiation & solar wind makes it's dust EXTREMELY charged, not to mention the regolith being basically glass shards means you really don't want that attracted into the suit
(After rewatching the clip) The regolith is charged to over a thousand volts on average, so any of it getting into electronics could be catastrophic, just like in this scene. (Plus using beams to bombard the regolith like the sun, smart. The beams themselves aren't conductive, but radiation can knock electrons off of stuff, which ionizes that regolith therefore making it statically charged)
@@timothygooding9544 Intriguing, so is it possible for these particles to be used in a helpful way? Since you said they can be charged with electricity, and Iâm not sure if my science is right on this, but Iâve done some research on electricity and I remember reading somewhere that if used properly by the right tools it can be used to transfer energy from source to another as long as itâs considered to be made of matter.
@@linkdancer3890 the energy is low but the transfer of it is fast, like a capacitor. This is why it's so dangerous to electronics while a battery isn't.
There are theoretical interplanetary solar satellites that could produce insane amounts of power directly from solar wind by using the charged particles instead of just radiation. (Think a lightning rod for the sun)
This isn't as useful on the moon because once the discharge happens it's now just stuck on you & the energy is still less than a constant solar wind.
How that power would be sent from the satellite in the middle of nowhere to something we want to use? Lasers? Not known yet. Earth's magnetic field deflects away this part of solar radiation so that's why we can't use it in our earth-orbiting satellites. Geostationary is as far as you'd reasonably go to place a satellite and the moon is much farther than that. And at GEO the solar wind is still more of a small nuisance than a feasible power source.

the 180 camera pan right before this clip starts was the honestly one of the best pans I've seen in an anime
I know, right? Guel had another one that was pretty good in his rematch with Suletta, but this one was absolutely gorgeous. Five episodes so far with three major fights and two minor ones, and the animation has been absolutely incredible in all of them.
This guy is checking off every type of defeat imaginable.
I hope Guel gets a W soon, he's slowly becoming the show's best character.

The good fights and the incredible OST represent what's great about the Gundam franchise; a smashing victory, a third humiliation for Guel.
Besides that feels gut punch of a prologue.

@@Klaaism Glad I was patient , the 1st two eps got me conflicted on whether the prologue was just a bait + a certain interview I saw from some of the staff.
From 4 I started steadily gaining confidence it'll still go "gundam" on us, albeit prolly a gundam-lite regardless.
This Elan mf + that ost rly gives an intimidating vibe tho' , much needed.
not really a humilation for guel, he's fighting superhumans who pilit gundams with a lesser model.

Props to Guel, guy managed to make a pretty good on the fly counter to the web of lasers he was up againt.
Someone said the Pharact ripping the horn off of Guel's machine and holding it up was like the predator ripping the spines out of it's victims and I can't unsee it.
I also wonder if Elan using a gundam will be investigated like the Aerial.
It's a reference to the RX-78's first battle where it partially disabled a MS-06F Zaku II by grabbing it by the "Muzzle" and ripping the head Cables out along with the radiator from the head. The removal of the antenna is also a less distructive version of Gundam's method of removing a Opponent from the tournament. There the goal of a dual was to distroy the Head of the other Gundam
Well the thing is that we do have a Gundam frame tearing the back and head of a MS barehanded in another show...

He is skilled but melee focused against cybernewtypes, funnels, gundam. Also Elan hard countered him whith the dust on this terrain and the fact that he is boringly playing from far above ground level

Honestly, any fight with a normal Mobile suit fighting against funnels of any sort is already a Bullet Hell.
On a lesser note, later in the series, i kinda want to see more Mobile Suits with Bit-disrupting equipment like the Pods the Beguir-Beu had in the prologue, now that Gundams are starting to reappear.
I have a feeling this is what'll happen in the inevitable Suletta vs Shaddiq duel in the future. The one who seems the most chill and laid-back would become her toughest opponent on the dueling committee if his suit has that technology (same company after all)
The thing here is that the Begir only messes with the GUND tech, it can't stop drones like the ones used by Garibaldi.
Plenty of those in UC. They act like funnels except it shuts down the mobile suit or jams it

That was an ingenious strategy. Dude used his tech in conjunction with the environment and his enemy's behavioral patterns to score a win. That last bit was brutal; it reminded me of that scene in TMNT 2003 where the Foot assaulted Leonardo and the Shredder capped off the beating by shattering Leo's katana right in front of him. You know it's overkill when other cast members are speechless or can't even look.
Elan had all the advantages, lol, there was no ingenious strategy required. It was Guel who was the underdog here.

It's been a while since I see a battle between two gundams after Iron Blooded Orphans
Glad to see touhou made a cameo in a Gundam anime
Granted there's been just three Gundam revealed so far; however, every single one has had a type of "bullet hell" drone swarm. Heck the MC's also doubles as a shield.
Elan was in a VERY bad mood in this fight.
I like that we are seeing some different weapon types in Gundam. These EMP lasers are actually a pretty cool idea. And the increased use of funnels - drones - is pretty cool. So far with this show everything I like, I really like. I also really like that it's not just the Earth-Moon system but it sounds like the whole solar system has been developed - much like The Expanse. I REALLY want to see more! We haven't even left this one space colony yet! Have we even seen what the outside of it looks like? I think we only saw the dock!
But I'm still mixed with how much of the show feels like typical schoolyard anime. My hope is that this setting is just the opening act and that the show is going to evolve beyond it. They've given us hints - the stuff going on with the people from Earth and Space being at each other's throats and obvious the prologue showed these writers don't mind killing characters.
But school bullies and gossip about who likes who just feels so out of place in this setting - even with these younger cast members.
How is it out of place? At the end of the day this is a school/academy with teenagers, they're gonna talk/gossip/get into scraps etc. It's unavoidable
@@xSkye629x It's a training academy for professional pilots. Not a Japanese middle school in 2022. Mobile suits in this world are like fighter jets IRL. If they trust you with a multi-billion dollar weapon of war - there's a pretty strong assumption of a level of maturity that is just not here.
Guel stealing and wrecking his brother's mobile suit would be like a pilot cadet crashing an F22 he wasn't authorized to pilot. His career would be over and he'd be facing criminal charges.
@@heavyarms55 He didn't steal his brothers suit. That's Guel's own suit previous to the red one. It's the one he used and lost with in his first duel to Sueletta. It's green and not his usual magenta likely because it's a replacement for the original. Sueletta did tear the original apart by slicing off all it's limbs.
Also, these are private military companies putting their machines against one another to be the next promoted machine for the entire united nations and to have their own child marry into the leading owner of their companies as well. You can't expect military decorum in this situation.
The real analogy would be various households of nobles going to knight school directly underneath their kingdoms king and showcasing their households newly developed weapons and fighting techniques to prove whos is better to earn the right to marry the princess and claim the crown. Too badly damage to repair, cheaper to replace it
Too many modern anime tropes in this show for it to be enjoyable
Guessing next episode will either end with Suletta winning with Aerialâs help. Or the next duel will end in a draw.
it could also end with Elan overstressing himself with level 4 of the Permet Score in an attempt to outdo Suletta. Though, that's just my personal guess on what'll happen.

Guel reminds me of Kazumi from build divers, muscular headstrong pink themed guys who lose a lot in the beginning of the show but get the best character development and become pretty competent by the end
he right, only a Gundam have the power to beat a Gundam but Mobile suit well build and piloted by extreme skill Pilot can beat a Gundam like Char can do it but only the Pilot can't rival his skill, this is why a Gundam should be Pilot by a skilled Pilot

The way Guel lost this fight....imagine if something like this happens to him again later, only for the second time around to result in his death? I mean, Suletta's expression in this moment alone is already horrified enough, so just imagine how she would react to seeing Guel *DIE* in this exact same sort of scenario after he'd become one of her most trusted and valued friends & allies. ....What if this scene is foreshadowing a future event?
Man, The more of these gundam shows I see with the ballerina mobility, funnels, and beam spam, the more I come to really appreciate series like IBO and 08th MS team for keeping the action grounded and tense.

how has no one died yet when they are using live rounds and actual damage when dueling in school ground much less. One miss and accidental hit to the wrong spot might be fatal.
I'm watching Seed and in about 13 episodes only one has received any meaningful damage

This dude's canonically the best pilot in Jeturk, everybody. It's just never going to get better. There will never be a new Jeturk pilot who can actually shoot or respond to difficult situations unless they fix up the Daribalde's AI some more.
