Argento seems to such a sweet, calm guy. Would love meet him and have a nice talk about art and life.

Definitely. But also twisted in some way. He has a sinister or weird relation psychologically speaking with his mother or women.

Those Italian thrillers are special. I finally watched Deep Red (Profundo Rosso) last year and was engrossed for every moment. It wasn't just a sensational "slasher", it had something special to it, and a quality of mystery that's missing from so many American slasher movies of the 70s & 80s (however I must say that Black Christmas and Halloween are exemplary examples of American suspense and do not fall into the pit of mediocrity and copycat/cookie-cutter rubbish).

Couldn't have put it better myself. Argento's Giallo's always have something unique about them that makes them so wonderful!

      Good movies you mentioned.
I would say Black Christmas and Halloween are as good as it gets with American suspense.
In fact, Black Christmas inspired Halloween.

@@BeatlesFan1975 True--- in fact I once heard that John Carpenter had asked Bob Clark how he would have done a sequel to it and Bob said something like, "Some time has passed and our psycho Billy breaks out of the sanitarium where he's been locked away, and he heads back to the sorority house".
      PS...
More good American suspense: Psycho, Jaws, Alien, Dressed to Kill, The Shining.
