Today we'll talk more in depth about Polygon Bikes ultimate play bike, the Siskiu T8. I've had this bike for around 6 months now and have ridden it back to back with Polygon's enduro bike offerings, and it stacks up well...too well...

Very new to the sport of MTB.... I got my first MTB 1 month ago ( Polygon Cascade 4- Hardtail ) After my first ride on the trails I was hooked!!
and after the 2nd week of riding I was already looking at purchasing my first Dual Suspension bike.
After a tonne of research I've decided I want to get a Siskiu T7.... BUT I've made a promise to myself first...
I can't purchase the T7 until I learn how to:
    - Bunny Hop 1-2 ft consistently
    - Hit small-medium jumps & drops with confidence
    - Wheelie 100 meters
    - Graduate my Diploma
So far I've got a 1 centimetre bunny hop & a 5 meter scuffed wheelie & theirs a 50% chance I get bucked when hitting a small jump!

I ordered a T8 and hope to get in the next two weeks. I live in south Florida (flat but bumpy/sandy) and have been waiting for a long time. Most people I see here ride Stumpy, Scott or Trek.
I’m excited to be the purple odd man out! I’ll be watching for tires, frame chip and reverse cable installs which appear to be the biggest issues from the factory. I look forward to be part of this community. I’m 5’10” first time using a real trail bike compared to my Trek fx4 in the same trails!

I love mine but have done some decent upgrading of the basics. New handle bars, grips, pedals, saddle and stem. The tyres were the Vee Flow Snap and although grippy basically felt like dragging a fridge behind the bike. Now I run Specialised Eliminator 29 x 2.3 front and back. Grippy AF but fast rolling. I also put a .8 spacer in the rear shock.

Got the T8 delivered last week. Had only one short ride @ real trail so far. First ride was great. Rode it completely stock with just a tubeless conversion. My L was 14.70kg/32.4lbs this way. Brakes were ok but not great. Tires did fine, although less traction than either a Dissector or DHRII. Bike is more agile on switchbacks than my Norco Torrent HT and climbs great, while easily having more traction over chatter. Used the included pedals for the 1st ride, were pretty grippy, no complaints with my RC mtb shoes. Grips are also decent, and so was the saddle that many say is a throwaway: nah, i prefer a fabric scoop but its workable.
I will transfer my metallic Slx M7120 and swap to my Spank Hex oozy+ wheelset with 203 rotors F/R "soon". SLX drivetrain is superbly crisp, and I would not seek to upgrade anything. Perhaps a i spec ev shifter for the looks when paired with my SLX brakes? The dropper post lever was not perfectly tuned out of the factory, but works. Brake swap will include the MT800 dropper lever that is simply amazing and imho better than pnw, wolftooth etc.
Real question is whether to move over the Durolux 36 eq 150mm from the Torrent...

Great review! This was a little out of my price range when I was looking at full-squish, so I ended up with Giant Stance 2 - but it's becoming apparent I could do better (even after some upgrades to the Stance). This is a tempting option over sinking more money into the Stance - as my next two upgrades would be rear shock with lockout and better calipers, both of which the T8 has ;)
Looks like some great trails near you, too. Is that CO?

New sub here. Found your channel doing a search on this bike. Thanks for the review. I know a lot of folks who are buying a bike like this are interested in the component spec, but there are a few of us who do bike builds (we already have the components) and are looking for a quality frame with great geo. Can you elaborate about the quality of the frame? For example, how is the fit and finish - are the welds solid, is the paint blemish free, do the linkages fit well together with little slop, etc. Does Polygon use quality parts on the suspension, what are the bearings/bushings like? Is the bike easy to service?
Your call out on the cable routing is exactly the stuff I am looking for in a review. I am just hoping you can fill in a few more details.
    Thanks!

If you had to choose between taking the Sisku T8 or N9 out to the bike park which would you take? I understand they are different travel bikes but what all mountain or do it all bike do you see yourself using more? I am stuck between the two and have no idea what to pick. I am leaning towards the N9 just for the extra travel and like you mentioned its still plenty fun and not just plowing through everything. But the T8 is 1. Beautiful and 2. seems like it would be able to handle a lot with that 140mm travel on the 29er.

  • @jasonmurphy733

I wasnt happy that when my T8 arrived (around 5/01/21) the cool lil cardboard box inside that had all the paperwork and tools etc had been opened and pretty much dumped out inside the big box and the big box had a hole in the bottom from shipping so who knows what was missing.
More importantly- they had Vee tire co tires on the bike instead of the Schwalbes that they listed. - Those are worth about half as much by the way. -also a paint chip by the emblem on the headtube.
So I emailed them -only about the tires- asking them to take the vee's back and send me the Schwalbes...
The bikes online guys try to distance themselves from polygon like it was a different company and took zero responsibility for the manufacturer swap. (polygon is the only bike online bikes sells)
They said there was a shortage (obviously you can buy as many Schwalbes as you want on Amazon).
They said I should be glad i didnt have to wait longer for the right tires ( I did wait about 4-5 months).
Im ok with taking a chance to save money adjusting the bike myself etc, Im not ok with this company not sending me what they advertised and what I paid for.

If I'm going to need to upgrade the suspension anyway, do you think it a better move to go with the T7 and use the savings for upgrading suspension and components. OR... do you think that since it's doubtful that I'll be shredding the trails as hard that the T8 is a better option over the T7 and stick with the Fox suspension with some added tokens? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If you're not going to be going mach 5 and hitting tons of jump lines, I think the fox setup with added spacers would be sufficient. If you're going to be more aggressive of a rider, I think upgrading the suspension would be a good idea, as the fork could use a little help for bigger riders. Hey, this really helped me out a lot even though I'm on a 2018 YT Jeffsy (140/140mm). Cause it has the Fox 34 and DPS (both in performance elite). Just like you I'm 6.0' and I weigh in at 200 lbs. Just recently started doing some more rough and steeper trails and DH and now I can feel the flex in the fork people are taking about. Will have to start saving some lunch money! Also get a pretty harsh feedback from the shock on flatter landings. The lift accessed descents I have close by are only about 2 minutes.
QUESTION: Do you think such a short trail is enough for the DPS Performance Elite shock toheart up and loose performance? Or are the gains in swapping shock more about LSC/HSC & LSRb/HSRb?

    • @TheShredist
      @TheShredist  Před 3 lety +2

I dont think the dps just has the capacity to handle fast chop like upgraded shocks can. It packs up quick and can't get the tire to track quick enough, making it bounce off everything and that is just a character of the shock. Adjusting compression can help, but really to get a massive difference in feel you'll eventually need to bite the bullet and upgrade the piece.

    • @BMOutdoorz
      @BMOutdoorz Před 3 lety +1

I do not think it will be, I have ridden some heavy full squish then gone right back to my hardtail which is lighter, I climb pretty much the same with suspension locked out so I think it should work.

Having full lockouts like this bike does will help the transition to full suspension, but nothing is going to climb exactly like a hardtail. His complaint was the weight when climbing and he said the suspension feels pretty harsh compared to his old full suspension bike. I need to choose one of these 2 options as my next MTB:
Option 1: used canyon lux (2016 model carbon fiber, sram xx1, 11x1) condition "ok".
    Option 2: New Polygon T7.
Both options are at the same price.
