The main point of choosing Icon over Knipex is warranty. Knipex is absolutely awful to warranty, you have to pay to send them in and hope that they don't claim "abuse". The only downside I've seen of the Icons are the teeth, they wear a little quick, but you can swap them out without question.

I own a Snap On pipe wrench because the truck showed up at the same time a stuck tie rod end hit my alignment rack. I’m glad I have it but I’d rather have the extra $80 for a tool I don’t need every day.

The Knipex clones aren’t as easy to justify as the Snap On clones as the price difference isn’t as great, but with a coupon they’re still a good bit cheaper. If you find a good deal on Knipex then I’d go that route. If you’re not a professional that frequents a tool truck the warranty at Harbor Freight is going to be the least painful as well. I haven’t warrantied any Knipex stuff but some folks online make it sound like a bit of a hassle. Overall the Icon stuff seems like a pretty good value, especially the sub-$20 pliers, etc., if you wait for a sale/coupon.

I get that icon isn’t the best. But they’re the best choice for me.

I picked them up. I have the twin grips too. For as often as I do use the twin grips I felt it was worth taking a chance on them as a back up.

What was the grip you put on your Knipex? I tried rewatching and couldn’t catch it. The handles are my biggest complaint with all of my knipex pliers.

I personally don’t agree with the blatant plier knockoffs and it equates to theft to me. I’d rather buy one snap on or Knipex plier than buy 3 HF. No judgment on someone buying them to support their grind. Just not for me.

great point! i’m definitely sticking with the Knipex and Snap-on pliers for my day to day as well.

I bought the Icons instead because I’m not a professional right now so I hate chasing down a tool truck. I also hate knipex warranty and online warranty. Harbor freight twin grips work.

have not had to deal with Knipex warranty so can’t attest to that. but as a DIY person i think ICON is legit for

If I'm using a pliers there are 3 criteria for my use.
Teeth hardness, grips shouldn't rotate on shanks and fit in my small hands, overall feel and strength in handles.

i agree. you could get the real deal for $10 or $15 more. i would just get knippex. now the snap on knock offs i get it. because snap on is so expensive
