- A Beech log that was cut about 3 years ago. It was packed full of potential and I am absolutely delighted that I stuck with it, as the soft patches were really concerning!

Fantastic Bowl, job well done. I love old chunks of wood like that and just never giving up until I get something out of them. I have had good luck using shellac and just letting the wood drink up as much as it wants. It seems to really stiffen the wood up, especially the real soft spots. And of course, CA glue and coffee grounds for those cracks.
The challenge of dealing with cracks and such like is great for letting your mind wander. Thanks 😀👍
