I took a chance and just bought it. It's fantastic on my X-T3. I don't care about corner sharpness and all these charts and tech specs, but as a musician/artist/human with an eye I can say that this lens just has more soul in the photos. It's super sharp, but rolls off into a creamy blur in a very articulate manner. BTW you're one of the best dressed photographers on CZcams. God bless you, bro!
I have the 33 and plan to trade my 16 1.4 and 35 f2 for the 18 next. I love the 16 but what I've been shooting doesn't play well with distortion. Doing a lot of cars. I think the 18 and 33 would be a dope pair
Oh i love that lens ! It made me stay with Fuji . Lightning fast , superb IQ well built. Im in Montreal and this winter it went under some -25 celcius , freezing rain ,snow and it never failed. Nest week it's coming with me in Costa Rica rainforest .
The 33mm 1.4 is my go-to lens, only comes off for the occasional spin of the Viltrox 85mm 1.8 - and for weddings I have them both on different bodies, but pull out the 23mm where needed. Nice video!
Thanks for a straight talking review, both the 18mm & 33mm f1.4 seem top notch , superb images … Thank you for your time and effort for sharing your opinions…
Great vid man. Fujifilm is definitely taking a step forward with these new lenses 18,23,33. Can’t wait to see what a high MP camera could do with these lenses as well. This vid just made me want the 33mm even more now lol.
Great pictures!! I just got my h2s and I don't know how to start my pictures colors. Your picture looks great to me, can you give me some tips about starting point? I want to make these kind of color to mine. What film simulation should I use?
I have this lens. Optically it is excellent but I think that this focal length is a bit of a compromise. It is a bit too narrow for landscapes and in cramped spaces and a bit too wide for portraits- I usually use it in sports finder mode in these situations.
Interesting. thanks for sharing your thoughts. this is one thing I love about photography is that everyone has their own style. For me, I love it for portraits and really fits what I am trying to do with my brand. thankful there are so many good lenses out there though so that we all find our go to lenses!
Phil, stumbled upon your content and so glad I did! I’m a portrait, headshot and family photographer and I shoot on the X100V & the XT3 and on my xt3 primarily use the 35 1.4 and 56 1.2. I’m considering upgrading to the XT4 and the 33. I think the 33 might be the priority for me. May I ask, do you find the XT4 a nice upgrade to the XT4? I’ve also considered the XPRO 3 but since I’m used to the XT3, I think the XT4 will be more Intuitive. Thanks for any advice and guidance!
Nice! I love my 35 1.4, but the 33 is on my list for next lens. May I ask, I see a bag you are using with your hold fast money maker. What bag is that?
What are you using as a longer lens for ceremonies? I have the 56 and the 90. But now with the 18 and 33 I’m thinking I’m going to find myself frustrated with the autofocus on the 56. I can see myself gravitating towards the 33 more and ditching my 56 so my bag is 18,33,90.
Honestly, thats all depends on how many people in the photo. I still shoot with one point focus mode, but I raise the aperture as more people enter the photo.
Have not tried the sigma yet. but had sigma when i shot canon and hated how many times i had to recalibrate the lens. not sure that will be the case with the new ones, but i love sticking with fuji when i can.

couldnt agree more! hahah thank you! Blessings fam
Thanks for the insights! Not a lot of info on it when paired with a X-T3. How is the autofocus in your opinion?
I just purchased this gem and it did not disappoint me. thank you for this video.
You are so welcome. hope you enjoy it the way i do
Rain is a real thing! Yep it really is. (I'm currently in the middle of a storm...) great video! And the weatherceiling is really appreciated!
Thanks so much. Yea Idk what Id do without it.

I agree. Those two are like batman and robin!
Ya I shoot cars as well and the 18mm has much better distortion and bokeh. I pair it with the Mitakon 35mm .095 and 56mm 1.2.
My new combo for weddings, the 18 and the 33, I like them a lot
heck yeah. such a great pair!
Can't wait to hold the 18mm 1.4 WR R lens... Have heard so many positive things and the sharpness is out of this world... Thanks for your review...
you are so welcome!
I love this review. I've bought the 33mm f1.4 2 months ago and I totally agree w/ u!
thanks so much man. I hope you are loving it as much as I am

yeah the 23 is a cool focal length but I tend to like the 18 more but would love to play with the new 23
@@philporto yes. Mine's the 33 though, nifty fifty equivalent:)
Great video 👌 I totally agree everything about this lens you’ve said and the new f1.4 lenses are definitely an upgrade in every way
couldnt agree more!
Thanks Phil! Awesome shots. I have been loving the 18mm so…. the 33 might need to be greentoed soon
DO IT! You wont regret it!
Stunning images. What I like about the 33mm over the 35mm is the internal focusing, just like the huge 50-140mm.
You have a new subscriber. Well done.
Nice review, Phil. Praying good health wishes for you & your family.🙏😊
thank you so so much Jeffrey!
Thanks for a straight talking review, both the 18mm & 33mm f1.4 seem top notch , superb images … Thank you for your time and effort for sharing your opinions…
thanks a ton!
Thank you for the inspiration.
thank you for watching!

GET THE 33! and I agree. They are making moves. I want to see if the rumored XH2 comes out with 40mp, because these lenses would soar on it!
Peace be with you bro how you and family doing.
Doing well man. Bouncing back daily. appreciate ya!
Solid review and fantastic images!
Great video Phil ! Thanks for all these insights !
you are so welcome!
Niiiiice!
thanks so much!
Clear, precise, and straight forward review! Love your shots too. This definitely helped me if I'll buy another 35mm again or get the 33mm instead!
thanks so much. Yeah, I really can't say enough about this lens!
Thanks for your review! Great lens
thanks so much
Nice pictures! 👍🏼

You talk about the feel of the 18mm. Is it just that rather than the focal length compared to the 16mm?
I have the 23 we and the 56wr. Still considering to get the 33. What do you think?
Nice! I love my 35 1.4, but the 33 is on my list for next lens.

I use the 90 during ceremonies.
Its certainly a beautiful lens. I still love my 35mm f2- its such a great prime.
If I had the $ I'd certainly consider the 33mm!
Great video mate
Sell some stuff! haha But the 35 f2 was a great lens for me for a long time.
@@philporto haha I have a spare kidney...
Which focusing mode do you use for family portraits? I’m not a professional and I would to learn more.
Honestly, thats all depends on how many people in the photo. I still shoot with one point focus mode, but I raise the aperture as more people enter the photo.
@@philporto thank you very much Phil! 🍻
You made me buy this phil my visa card is not happy with you haha
hahahah I am so sorry andrew! how you enjoying it?
@@philporto Andrew left the chat 😂
This one or the sigma 30mm? :////
