There was a drop out in the earlier upload for this number. This has now been rectified as much as possible.
This is taken from a Betamax video that has been unseen for 39 years.
It is from David Bowie's last performance in Australia for the Serious Moonlight tour and is from the 20th of November 1983 at the Sydney Showgrounds. It was from a feed used for the large sight screens on the side of the stage.
The sound is mono unfortunately, but restored as much as possible. - Hudba
this gets greater with each passing moment
Awesome. Brings back memories of the 83 show i saw and also the incredible 78 show i saw with Adrian Belew on guitar. The brilliant intro to this song is what i and probably most fans love about STS when its done live. I think its about a 5min intro for the 78 tour and this one is around half that, yet Slick does a great solo here.
Thankyou very much for this close up footage of Slick winding and bending that solo out... Excellent.
One of David's best...this is incendiary !
This is the best memory of my childhood
I love that blue guitar Slick's playing, he had a beauty orange one on that tour that was the same model i think. Heck, he probably had 5 or 6 for that huge world tour!
Pretty certain those tour guitars were built for Earl from DiMarzio made bodies, necks and parts by Steve Conrad working at Valley Arts Guitar in California. He definitely had a red one too.
Is this the same one he used to play "Heroes" in 83 Vancouver DVD? That soaring guitar took me to heaven, my dear🥰
@@James_RC thanks for that info James, its great to hear. Beautiful looking guitars, at times one of his others that i think is the same model as you said, looks red, then orange depending on the lighting i guess. Hey, he probably had a red one and an orange one too. This guitar talk reminds me of the mindbending sounds Adrian Belew produced on his battered and beaten Fender Strat on the 78 tour. I read a story that Zappa gave it to him while he was in Zappa's band, who Bowie was able to get Adrian to join him for the world tour, much to Zappas displeasure. So, that Strat was given to Frank Zappa by the man himself Hendrix. The scarred and damaged guitar had been one of Jimi's burning sacrafices during his live renditions of Fire.
Its quite a story, its hard to imagine Zappa ( i love his playing too) would give Adrian that guitar, but you know these rock n roll stories are stuff of legend, thanks James.
@@thinwhite5981 yes, its very likely. I think youre right. Yes, Slick's guitar was beautiful on Heroes, Bowie began with the opening lines of the poem Lavenders Blue, which was a great idea before the guitar notes soar in. Not sure if he did that with all the renditions of Heroes on the 83 tour. I was there stunned in 83, but cant remember that precisely, wonder why? Lol.
There are some superb live Heroes he did, like his final one he ever did, i love that so much, and his 83 Vancouver is right up there with the best ever too, thanks for your thoughts.

I do envy you for having seen DB and Earl Live, I must have fainted if I were there. THNks for sharing your experience and Lavender Blue, I'll check it out😂
Excellent!
Thank you so much.
I filled in the ‘gap’ with a bit of audio from another recording. I’m not good at using the video apps so haven’t tried to synch it to the clip. I’d need a few tutorials and a lot to spare time .
Slick offers an interesting counterpoint to SRV- who i love. Had played earlier with Bowls. Not sure if live Bowie and SRV would have worked.
