  • I decided this looked easy, if you look closely you'll see the mud is flat. that was a mistake! Watch me try and remove myself then make it worse! the 4WD system kept turning off due to over heating. Then watch as I escape!
Oh and don't worry... I blurred it out!

I've been in similar situations in my Duster, if you let your tyres down to 15psi you may have driven straight out. I know I wasn't there but it's always worth a go, it's surprising, in the situations where I've been stuck, letting the tyres down has allowed my to drive out of all of them, so far.

@@ericbiggane9786 I was grounded out the left front doorwheel was off the floor, the off side front was not really making contact with the ground and the 4wd system kept overheating so I had about 30 seconds of rear wheel use every 15 minutes

Having proper off-road tyres, airing down, picking your lines. You can have the greatest 4WD system, but if the driver doesn't know how to operate it, it doesn't matter.

@@HeathBlythe the n/s/f was deeper than expected it was hidden under the mud causing me to ground out when I took a running 'jump' at it. I was beached

I've always been impressed with what the little Duster can do, it looked like you were almost out at one point. Shame about the 4WD system turning off when you needed it, I'm still a fan of mechanical 4WD. So useful extra gear might be a hand winch, wellies and a ratchet strap for your trousers!

@@the_explorer_adam Yes you've straddled some impressive ruts in the past. Bound to happen at some point though, all part of the experience!

@MattTester if you look carefully at the start the mud is flat however there was some warning signs around the edge, when I had traction I should of digged the back out and just abandoned the lane however I didn't 🤣

dont you have recovery boards (just in case)?

I have many tools but I've had a form of boards before and it didn't work. I edged wedge some wooden planks underneath but still didn't work.
      Space is limited

@the_explorer_adam set of recovery board should easily go behind the front row seats. glad that someone pulled you out. was it an expensive call out or a friend?
