I liked this game for what it was. Hated they used the Most Wanted name but loved the world exploration to pick up cars hidden in there, and the race intros were cool. Too bad the blacklist rivals were some generic stock cars.

Burnout Paradise actually had almost realistic crash effect on cars and I really loved it and I always crashed them into various objects for best results. Sadly, that game was discontinued even though most players really enjoyed it so much

The Biggest problem of "Need For Speed: Most Wanted - A Criterion Game" (that's the full name) is the fact it is named "Most Wanted" and they have to add "A Criterion Game" to the name, instead of calling it something else

The crash or wreck cutscene of this game was killing me. Even when your car crashed and rolled with a long time the cutscene getting longer.

because these were crashes with real cars, they couldnt destroy the car as much as they did in bp. nfs hp 2010's crash was good at masking the lack of damage with special effects. nfs mw however did a poor job of hiding the lack of damage model. thats why this games crash was irritating as hell

Ah, I love this game, it was one of my first games I've ever played, and still its one of my favourites. I agree it shouldnt have been named Most Wanted, but it was so fun to play for me: the stupid jumps, speeds, and awesome sounds and soundtrack. Yes it had a lot of bad things like the stupid crash cutscenes or no body customization, but I still love it to this day.
Pros: graphics, sound, music, variety of cars, open world and multiplayer
Cons: no story, no tunning, no people, all cars unlocked, hard driving in city, no manual transmission, no garages, no pursuit music, no pursuit breakers, no punishments (fines or losing cars) when busted, no money, no directions during races (it's easy to take the wrong track), lots of Burnout features and Most Wanted name.
To conclude, a good racing game, a mediocre NFS, an awful Most Wanted

I grew up with this game as well. Got it as my 8th birthday present. Played the hell out of it. One of my favorite games. That was in 2013. Now in 2020, 7 years later I saw some clips of people hating on MW 2012 and I see why. I played the original MW from 2005 and it was entirely different. It had a story and more challenging gameplay. The 2012 reboot didn't live up to the expectations of the original and I see now why die hard NFS fans dislike it so much. I also saw people saying that it was basically a Burnout game. Crash cams and not really much of a plot. Also the Fairhaven Map is the EXACT SAME map as Paradise City from Burnout Paradise. In all honesty I love MW 2012. It was one of the first video games I ever played and introduced me to the gaming community. NFS Underground introduced me to the car culture. To NFS MW 2012 I salute you for bringing joy to my life and an approval sticker.

the fairhaven map is completely different from the BP map. it was originally going to be based off of the hot pursuit map but they ended up making a whole new map

I both have the 2 games, MW2005 and MW2012. I play 2012 still, and it look beautiful to be honest. Its not the sequel everyone wanted, but at least I enjoy the soundtrack alot. Problem is, the name of the game is supposed to be Burnout Fairhaven. I feel disappointed in buying this game (for its name), but at the same time, its actually fun

I still play this game mostly because of the graphic. The graphic of this game is beautiful and real-life looking. The gameplay is alright. Hope EA makes a true sequel of Most Wanted soon.

This game had a lot of problems, like, a lot!, the first one being its name, of course. But it had 1 thing that nfs 2015, payback and heat missed... At least for me... It was FUN! And the multiplayer had some purpose, so playing it with friends was OK. It is the need for speed i ve spent more time in from it till heat, by far...
Came here for the NFSMW2012 takes (and the weird cop car physics), ended up staying for the kind message of positivity in the end. Marathon's been a blast, Kuru. Thank you!
The game was great in my opinion, the only thing I really did not like was it’s usage of the Most Wanted title, and the reason I think people hated it was because it was much different from other NFS games where it wasn’t really story based, it was really just about the racing and I liked that simplicity as a kid
Well this game actually had planned a story mode, garages and whatever but were sadly cut. Cost to State, Spending speedpoints, cooldown spots, although I did grow up with this game, I think it could've been better

As someone who played this game since 2013, I love it. I didn't know about 2005 game and for me they are completely different.
And I have some suggestions for this game: First, I need increased difficulty. Entire game is so easy to beat 100%...
Second, progression. Kuru mentioned already that this game has shit progression, and that's true. There is already a bit of good progression by unlocking the MW cars after you beat them, but most of these cars are worse than some already available cars, which is embarassing. Especially if you bought DLCs. You can have a cool Aventador without a roof at the very beginning without going through the MW list! SO what I suggest is: make MW list progression unlock other cars. So when you beat abnother MW car, you unlock (make them appear in the world) some cars. This way, extremely fast cars are locked with progression! And also there isn't much challenge for specific car types (Looking at you, Ford Raptor, my lovely chunky boi). So making some events that are not just bound to the car but for some car types would make it more fun. And maybe add car unlocking to it too.
This game has great potential but it really needs improvements in gameplay design. And it's my favorite, along with Hot Pursuit 2010.

It was supposed to be the "true" sequel but they could do the original idea so they did....this...which the only connection with the original Most Wanted is the name.
@Plazmatron it's not a remake. It was supposed to be a true sequel, but the original version got scrapped due to time and resource constraint so they just did a Burnout Paradise: NFS Edition.

NFS MW 2012 is what happens when you tell the guys who made burnout paradise to make a new game, then cut the budget out from under them and tell them 3/4ths the way through that it's not Burnout IP, it's a different one. Because let's face it, from someone who well and truly loves the Burnout Franchise and still goes on a Paradise binge for a few weeks every year, MW 2012 felt like a prototype for a new burnout game, not like a need for speed game.
You even have stuff like how the repair/paint stations work, the crash cam functions (which really don't work without the damage modelling and atmosphere that Paradise had), etc. It all feels like they lifted straight from Paradise.

And when you race most wanted cars you take them down and you look in the radar they instantely come back

Very true. When I used to play this game a lot, I would almost always use the F-150 Raptor, Panamera Turbo S or the Continental SS ISR because those things were harder to crash out. Miss me with those boring, interrupting crash cut scenes.

Although many people defend this game saying that if it had not been called "Most Wanted" they surely would not have hated it, to me as a game it still seems pretty bad. And Spoiler Alert! Poor physics and controls are acceptable in any video game except a racing game. Apart from the fact that the game does not give you complete control over the car and less in a curve (or also the lack of speedbreaker mechanic), every minimum hit you crash, a cinematic interrupts the race that lasts about 7 seconds, the thing is that its so constant and the hitbox and impact force is super unrealistic as it can happen to you even with a low speed crash. The way to get vehicles in the game is absurd, since it eliminates the progression of the previous games in the series which consisted of starting with a bad car and getting better cars, in this one, you start with an Aston Martin and later you pick up a Porsche. Besides that if you get a good car at the beginning you will no longer need the rest, so this mechanic of finding cars in an open world at any time is terrible (and it is not surprising that other racing games do not have it), since it breaks completely the game. With only the Lamborghini Gallardo that you get in the first city and all the missions will be a piece of cake. The easiest way to solve this would be to block certain places on the map, as happened in Underground 2 or Most Wanted and that when you beat bosses they are enabled so you can pass, but no, you can go anywhere at any time, it that leaves the game very badly balanced.
I would criticize other things, such as the lack of tuning, the story, the confusing and bad balanced online or the absurd amount of DLC.
IMO one of the worst in the series. Need For Speed belongs to the PS1/PS2 era.

I really liked Criterion's Most Wanted precisely because it wasn't like the overrated Black Box game. And also because it's one of the very few modern racing games that focus on racing and racing alone.
The car selection is one of my favourites in the series, as there isn't any car with multiple versions (at least, not counting DLC) so every car is noticeably different. The one thing that I didn't found convincing was the handling - I remember them saying it would be different from Hot Pursuit's, but it turned out it wasn't the case.

I really liked this game, the 'carjack' system was quite cool. In the early 2016's I played this game alot with my dad, we both enjoyed it. Everyone says that this is just a bad copy of NFS most wanted 2005 but you have to keep in mind that they didnt have as much time for development. I think most of the people just hate NFS most wanted 2012 because its called most wanted.

I dont understund the name "Most Wanted" but i really enjoy this game, i play it at the moment in my ps3, and its so fun, its not a "Need For Speed" but a Amazing Racing Game! In fact ea close nfs undercover,shift1,shift2,the run server but not most wanted 2012, at least a really nice game to chill (my english is awfull because im italian)
Best nfs game for me, the car sounds is one of the best in any racing game(just try 911 turbo with long gears which will entertain your ear), the roaming is good, the graphic doesn't look dated to me but yeah lack of action and no stories makes the game boring for many people, but still to just roaming around and trying different cars is very great experience for me
If you play this game again you need to upgrade the ford raptor. It's nearly undestructable then and you can destroy heat 6 cop cars
The Hot Pursuit remaster has the same, annoying input delay, so you have ridiculous understeer, followed by an over-correction, then a crash. And, no ability to adjust steering sensitivity! Yay!
This game was my childhood and I really loved it, it is what gave me my love to racing games, I used to play it on ps3, it was amazing for me.

The key problem is the drift physics don't work with a tight map. Second are the instant gas repair stations. 2010's long roads and tension from your health was what made it fantastic.

A campaign is not what makes a NFS game great. Some of the great NFS games like 2 and 3 don't have a campaign.

When playing this game, I highly recommend you get yourself into a mindset that you are NOT playing a need for speed game, but rather a Burnout game. Then it becomes tolerable.
I’ve gotta be honest a really overlooked feature of this game is being able to swap performance parts on the move, I would love to at least swap basing tuning settings in games like Forza from an easy drive style menu, like tire pressure, final drive, brake pressure, turbo pressure (yes sometimes I wanna tone it down)
Criterion just used our franchise to make a Burnout with licensed cars. If they pull another stunt like this for 2022 the community will be livid
My biggest gripe with this game was the constant pushing of DLC down your throat at a time when DLC was popular but not as prevalent as it was today, on top of retail price. Paradise at least locked the cars away , where MW2012 just put them on the map and you break your immersion by trying to get into a car and loading up a purchase page instead. This is where I point the decline of NFS.
I think this game wouldn't get that much hate if EA just named it Need for Speed X Burnout, and sell it as a NFS and Burnout crossover kinda thing. BTW, congratulations on that CZcams button for the 100k milestone! Keep it up!

Maybe I'm not a "True" NFS Fan or something, but 2012 was my first time getting into the game, and I feel like if I came from any other game in the franchise I wouldn't have taken interest. Everyone hates it because it's like Burnout, but for me, the "stupid fun playground with real life cars", specifically the real life cars, made me love this game. When I tried burnout a few months ago I just couldn't get into it...

Instead of a remaster, I think what MW 2012 needs is a remake. A complete overhaul, with maybe some of the cut content that has been found by data miners, but actually finished. I’d love to see where this game would be if Criterion had enough time, and I think a remake is our best bet

Nope, there is a point in playing with each car, since each one has it's own races and challenges though some are shared with others, so if you want to complete the game at 100% you'll have to drive them all.
