  • Hi all
This video is a two week saga of chasing faults in the air suspension system.
If I had hair to pull out, that’s what I’d be doing now!

Hi, Great Vid, When I have been looking for this type of problem, Take the fuse out for the air suspension, leave of night, this will rule out wheel height sensors, then i would do what you did check for air leaks, external and internal are harder to detect. For me I think you problem is with the air diverter valve near the compressor and tank. To test swop the front air pipe with the rear. Keep up the vid's 😀

Thanks mate! You were bang on, I put a new AMK compressor in and then swapped out the central valve along with all new airlines. All sorted now. Thanks again for the comment

Great video and should be watched by D3 owners with any suspension issues. A question as I ran into a lesser problem but had the same challenge of the pipe being short after the cut and new brass fitting. I got away with this but it’s a common challenge. The big question is: Where did you get your replacement Air tubing (6mm OD 3mm ID I think are the specifications for the Air line)?
I’ve looked in all sorts of supplier sites but they have OD:ID6:4 rather than 6:3 pipe. I also agree the need for new brass fitting as the olives as these are major leak causes. Thanks for the video and with watching. Does sections are great for the big picture. 👍

Fast time sections 👍 - another comment. I’ve seen elsewhere that you don’t need to remove the Arch cover. Like you, I found out otherwise. Trying to do it with the arch cover on but held back is insane. No lighting and fighting 4 things with 2 hands is a losing battle. It will be interesting to see what you find in the electrics! Thanx

Hi mate thanks for the comment and the questions. I eventually bought a salvaged entire air harness, a brand new AMK compressor, OEM valves for the front middle and rear. I have reused the brass couplings as I tried them and didn’t leak so I have spares in the garage now just in case. Hope this helps. Any questions just give me a shout happy to try to help

Thanks for sharing and hats off for all the work and time spent on it. Keep us updated how it goes.
Btw do you know if the bushings in the struts can be replaced at all?

I’m not sure to be 100% honest, I would think that repairing the strut if you have a leak is tough work due to the high pressures I would just replace. Gentlemen of salvage alway have great parts at great prices.
