  • This series is intended to help new players get to grips with and understand Europa Universalis IV (EU4). The idea is that through watching someone more experienced go through the same processes that you will, it will help teach the game. As such, I play through this as normal, but take the time to go into more detail about what is happening, and why. If you have any further questions or need things clarified, please do let me know in the comments! Hope this helps!
This has been recorded with all DLC up to and including Emperor.
Please like and subscribe to this channel if you enjoyed this preview of Europa Universalis IV with the Man the Guns expansion! It really helps out! Likewise, if you have any tips, critiques or advice please do comment as I'd be pleased to read them.
Emperor DLC was given to me by Paradox at no charge.

What i find interesting is if you take over Byzantium either whole or as a vassal, the Ottomans seem to just dlowly die every game. The Europeans take over the Balkans, Mamulaks take the rest over time.

What I've actually found, from my own experimenting, is that, because there's a relatively small amount of money going into the Seville node at the start of the game, it's actually more profitable to privateer from the English Channel, or the Genoa node.

Certainly possible. Trade as a whole is worth a fraction at this stage compared to later.

I thought you'd automatically collect in your home trade node, no merchant needed. But it's been quite a while since I last played. Did they change that or I'm remembering wrong?

You do, but you get 10% extra value with a merchant there PLUS gain 10% trade power in that node for each of your active transferring merchants so it's pretty much always a good idea to put one there.
