You are an absolute BEAST for doing all 51 riffs 🔥 Excellent work, and congratulations to the winners!
Hahaha I felt it only fair. Thanks for being an awesome company and adding extra gifts for the winners. Truly shows how cool the team is!
Glad I got to be a part of this. Can’t believe you took the time to write drums to all the entries, very impressive.
Had to show the appreciation for those who took the time to submit as well! Thanks for submitting!
glad you liked putting drums over my one and thanks for the compliments. congrats to the winners!
Thank you so much! I was upset I couldn't have included yours in there. Definitely in the top 10
Thanks for including my midi guitars haha!! Actually i'm just the drummer trying to write some stuff so i thought i would sneak this one in here :) congrats to all the winners!
That’s sick! Great job entering and taking it upon yourself to learn to midi guitar. Great idea! I feel like more drummers should take that initiative as well
I've found out about the contest one day before the deadline. I composed, recorded and tried to mix in one evening, and never had done any of these things before, this is why was off tempo. Literally uploaded the video with only 10 minutes left to the end. (in my timezone had already passed 1h).
Appreciate you taking the time and the effort to give everyone a chance, thanks!
Congratulations for the winners, well deserved.
Totally makes sense. I Look forward to hearing a future entry in another contest down the line. Thanks for submitting with barely any time to create something ahaha
I loved the way you interpreted my riff. I wrote a completely different style drum part and was way slower more like car bomb/ion dissonance breakdowns.
Thank you so much for contributing! Yeah there are so many ways to interpret drums for a riff. I had fun with that one haha
I am honored to be among the winners out of all these great entries! It was a lot of fun to participate in this contest and it was so sick to hear my riff with the wild drums you arranged. Can't wait to start using my prize for drums. PS- if you could send me the drum MIDI and mapping with my prize, that would be super dope haha
Dude, you crushed it. I wish the top 5 could have all tied for first and get the same prize. It was so hard to choose at that point. And hell yeah, I'm uploading the midi and mappings now!
@@BrendonKPadjasek thank you man!! Must have been difficult with so many entries to whittle it down, I’m just happy to win anything at all haha
Thank you for including my riff! Love what you did with it. And yes, Josh Travis/Danza is one of my biggest influences. His old soundcloud demos are still some of the most insane instrumentals I’ve ever heard to this day
Oh absolutely. He's a friggen genius, it's scary haha. You crushed it
Thanks for putting this together Brendon!!
Stoked with 3rd and really appreciate the feedback
Of all the riffs, yours was the one I was most inspired to do any sort of vocals too. Love the style, and I hope you do more like this. I'll contact you tomorrow with how to claim your prize
Hey I left a comment on your video about how to claim the prize but it seems it was removed. Email Kai at mlsoundlab.redirect@gmail.com to claim your prize. Sorry about that
@@BrendonKPadjasek No worries! Thanks 👍
Duuuuuuudddeeee, this is so fuckin' sweet. Really awesome that you worked with everyone's riffs. SUPER groovy drum writing chops. Also, the new Northlane/Structures track is absolutely insane. Y'all fucking knocked it out of the park - as did everyone who participated in this contest. Thank you, Brendon and ML, for doing this. You rock.🤘
Eh thank you so much on all accounts. Love the guys and everything they do
My friend. You are a hub for some awesome guitar riffs. I’d like to see more of this.
Haha thanks man. I think everyone that submitted the riffs did a great job. Had a blast putting drums over them
Amazing effort dude. Also massive hype on your feature for Kraft. My favourite Northlane song in a long time. You were definitely a major player in my enjoyment of the Alien era ❤
Oh thank you so much to both ! I appreciate that and absolutely love all the music they’ve done
Glad to be a part of the video! And thanks for the kind words, it's really informative to see how you program drums to different type of musicand riff.
Thank you so much ! I really enjoyed putting drums over that one specifically. Thanks for contributing!
Fuck yeah. I appreciate the work you put to this. And thanks for the kind words!
Thank you my friend! It took… a very long time to program them, and then a very long time to edit the video haha
Thank you for having this contest. A lot of great riffs and drums! Can't wait for the next one
Thanks for contributing my man! Your riff would be sick in the context of a full song for sure
Hopefully I can do another one soon!
@@BrendonKPadjasek your words make me want to continue and better myself 🤘
@nunofmpires that’s the goal!
1st Place reminds me of Sky Eats Airplane's self-titled. Nice.
Oh yeah! I forgot how sick that band was. Thanks for checking it out. Kind of reminds me of this hardcore band Advent. Either way, super cool and all the entries were fun to work with
that first riff is crazy good
Hahah I know. For a first one it was actually insane. Spoiled off the bat
Let's goooo, it got the brutal drums in!
Thanks for the contest, it was fun :)
Thanks for submitting! That was fun as hell
That was very cool! Thanks a lot!
Thank you as well! I enjoyed how different yours was!
I’m glad you picked up on the inspiration! My style has always been heavily influenced by bands like Every Time I Die, Norma Jean, and Underoath. I have been on an Incubus kick lately though, which is probably why it reminded you of Foo Fighters as well. I love modern metal, but I’ve tried writing it and it just doesn’t work for me. I decided to just write something true to my style, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
After I submitted the riff, I spent the next few days writing and recording a song based on that riff. When I heard your drums, I had to laugh a little cause they’re almost note for note what I wrote! I haven’t written any lyrics yet, but is there any way I could share the instrumental with you, or even the final track once it’s done? Your contest helped me overcome some writer’s block and feel inspired again and I would love to share the results with you!
Congrats to the winners! Your riffs are all awesome! 🎉🎉
Oh that’s amazing! Yeah to be honest when I have writers block I work on some rnb or rap kind of instrumentals to fight the riff block haha
Yeah I’d love to hear it! If you post it on CZcams feel free to send it in here - although sometimes CZcams holds comments with links for review, so you can just say “I posted the song” and I’ll check it out.
Or email it!
Such a fun video! Great work Brendon!
Hahaha thank you my sir! Lets try to write some jams again soon
@@BrendonKPadjasek I'm down!
Dayum this was sick! Thanks for kind words and shout out to everyone and their sick riffs
That's what it was! haha no worries! The riff was sick, I just couldn't tell what was going on with that. Now it make sense
It's been fun. Thank you :)
Thanks for adding your riff!
Oh snap! It's crazy to see I got 2nd place over all those crazy insane and creative riffs. Big up to COLD MAJKI🙏 i actually knew you were gonna win.
I had such a hard time between the 2 of your entries. I really enjoyed working on yours.
Seriously great job and congrats on all the prizes. I’ll tell you how to claim your prizes on your video so look out for that shortly !
@@BrendonKPadjasekawesome my dude! Also nice work with the ghost notes spicing up the groove
@apothecide.2 ehh thank you! Ghost notes are a must for a lot of beats I’d say. Definitely felt the need to add them to yours haha
@apothecide.2 hey I left a comment on your video letting you know how to claim the prizes but I think CZcams is removing them. Make sure you email Kai at mlsoundlab.redirect@gmail.com
Let him know which place you came in and your CZcams handle
Hey man! Amazing drums for my riff! 57:29 I plan to practice mapping drums and this video is a cool insight on how to do stuff) I used Archetype Nolly for my sound. I can send u the preset if you want to! Thanks again for this contest hell of a challenge and fun!
Hell yeah, thanks so much! I'm in the process of exporting all the Midi now so check back here in an hour or so
love this
Love you brother fam!
MAAAN. im so sad i missed this, i would've definitely entered in this. regardless all these riffs are sick as hell
yeah there were a lot of great entries. There's always next time!
Another great video
Thanks for checking out another one!
Awesome, thank you Brendon.
Thanks for submitting!
Yooo beyond stoked on this announcement, means a lot!! 51 entries is a lot, can imagine putting drum on them was a huge effort, thanks for doing it and the whole contest! Super happy to be part of it and as someone always insecure about the stuff im making this gonna motivate me for a loong time! Thanks!
Hell yeah my man, you deserve it. I love what you came up with! I love that style of hardcore music and only later realized you were wearing a turnstile shirt in your video too haha. Love that band. Great work my man!
Were the drums you had on your riff anything similar to what I landed on?
And yes, it was days of work haha
@@BrendonKPadjasek thanks mane!! ye i got really into pressure to succed and still my fave from them but was wild seeing them grow and get where they are now, massive props to em!
the drums were really close to mine, yours more refined and got the accents much better, but similar vibe, really cool to see how someone else would approach it!
thanks once again man!
@wtpmikee oh yeah they’ve become huge now haha. I still like the new stuff
And hell yeah, I always find it interesting seeing how others hear drums over a raw riff.
Thanks to you as well! Enjoy your prizes
@@BrendonKPadjasek defo biggest boy band of our time haha
@wtpmikee hey I just touched base with Kai and it seems the comment I left on your video must not have gone through. Email Kai at mlsoundlab.redirect@gmail.com to claim your prizes
Thank you so much for this, it was not only a great opportunity but also a very inspiring contest. Also congratulations to everyone taking part, I think we all won in a way because we now have something out there to be proud of.
Regarding my Riff: Thank you for the criticism, that definitely gave me ideas to improve my stuff. Originally I intended it to be in 87 BPM going through in a normal 4/4 feel, which is why I didn't encounter any timing problems (other than some unprecise tracking maybe), but you definitely made it much more interesting with that drum beat. I think I might even go back and record a new version over your drum ideas with correct phrasing.
I think that could definitely help. I tried writing to it in a 4/4 way and it didn't for what I was trying, so I just let it be haha. Ill be posting the midi shortly in a community post so check that out soon
Hey my man, I left a comment on your video about how to claim your prize but it seemed it was taken down, email Kai at mlsoundlab.redirect@gmail.com and let him know your CZcams handle and the place you came in. Sorry about that
@@BrendonKPadjasek Ah thank you, I was already getting confused because it told me I had a new comment but nothing showed up.
@Thezos33 yeah I think they hide stuff that may be “spam”
dude glad you are back. You been busy
hahah thank you! Yeah I had wayyy too much to do the past few weeks
That must have been a ton of work! Great job 👌
It was days upon days of work haha. Thank you so much!
Took me a while to remember that you use to play bass fir northlane haha. You seemed familiar. Sub!
haha yup, that's me! They're sick af
Now I regret not taking part. I was busy and I didn't want to put something to use that wasn't especially created for this.
There will always be next time
There we goo
hahah yes indeed. Thanks for submitting! Your riff was crazy haha
@@BrendonKPadjasek btw Kraft is lit, really. You and Will are solid, so happy to see you all together in a record.
@gianluigitarantino thank you so much! Was super happy when they asked me to throw something on the song as I was already heading down there to hang out with them haha
oh wow
Oh yes haha. Thanks for checking it out
where do you announce these competitions? would love to take part in the next one
Just on youtube here. I made a video of it, then next day posted a photo of the Flyer
Digital360 was fuckin sick
There were a lot of great ones in there
Yo i thought 115 started playing at 12:30 lmao
What’s 115? Haha
Gotta update Gumroad
I Have all the drums exported I just need to figure out how to export a midi map
Just added the new midi!
@@BrendonKPadjasek Well done on making the best and biggest metal midi drum pack. And they're not .json files lol. Thank you.
@alukea123 hahaha no worries. Yeah someone mentioned one of my older packs was .json which is weird because I saw them as .midi
@@BrendonKPadjasek Yeah that was me. Im curious about your trap music, I bet you were good at that. You have a trap artist name?
The riffs-rhythms are good, the sound of the drums somehow didn't suit me...
fair enough! thanks for watching anyways
brendon i just wanted to say your feature on northlane's ep was standout, and i was thoroughly impressed. the rap style delivery over the second repetition before the breakdown was incredible.
i think the world needs more assistance in how to deliver vocals over instrumentals like you did there. i also assume the riffs were yours too, which were killer also. northlane knew they lost a good thing with you!
I actually didn’t write an instrumentals for northlane. Jon is just a writing machine. But thank you so much! I do appreciate that
