CBS Sunday Morning holds a special place in my heart because my parents would watch this show every morning before church. Every time I hear that trumpet song, I can still smell pancakes, bacon and coffee being cooked and I can still feel my church necktie choking me. Sweet memories

Nothing against Wynton's version, but I prefer the original 1979 version without the extra flourishes at the end (as well as the slower pace and less political nature of the whole show.)

I am very happy that the 1979 debut was uploaded onto CZcams. I was at first worried that something was very wrong with either my tv, or that somehow I was thinking, it was the wrong day of the week; Laughing to myself. I have gotten so used to watching the Sunday Morning show throughout my life, that it has become my weekly habit.
So even though, I am happy to find the Sunday Morning show on CZcams, it saddens me to think, that I might be part of the last generation to really enjoy and appreciate a good intelligent news show, that does not only focus on entertainment news.

If only the show would stay as it has been for decades: this calm, nice, smiley face, warm fuzzy, family show. Recent episodes have, in one case, spent the whole show on personal finance. Not my idea of a way to chill on Sunday morning. Last week, the show opened with a story about prostitution in America. Not a good family morning around the pancakes sort of sunday morning entertainment. I really hope they fix it. This is starting to suck. Hard.

This is the theme to Sunday Morning, composed by Johann Gottfried and called “Abblasen”. This music has been used on CBS News Sunday Morning for many years, but only since 1998 have they been using this version performed by Doc Severinsen, the former Tonight Show bandleader. Since 2004 they have been using a version of Abblasen by Wynton Marsalis. CBS Sunday Morning is anchored by Charles Osgood and focuses on the day’s news as well as on arts and entertainment. Being a successful morning program, CBS News executives attempted in the early 80’s to transfer the Sunday morning format to weekdays with anchors Charles Kuralt and Diane Sawyer. So this theme was also used on the weekday morning show for a short period of time

    There's no "Saturday".
Can anybody explain why there's no "Saturday?"

When CBS changed the name of the morning news show to (insert day of the week here) Morning, there was no Saturday show due to Saturday morning cartoons. Before CBS News Sunday Morning, there were no other morning news shows other than Face The Nation, Meet The Press, and the predecessor to This Week on ABC, Issues & Answers. Those often aired later in the morning. Now there are Saturday morning news shows and Sunday morning news shows. FTN/MTP/TWWIGS now air immediately after.

Saturday morning on the three networks that existed at that time was exclusively used for children's shows. No room on the schedule for a 90-minute adult news program. The closest things were the brief In the News segments CBS ran which were written and produced for kids. Wish CBS would upload those in full quality.
Too bad there was no way to include the original commercials, which would have completed the mood.

There is such a thing as “CBS Saturday Morning” since 1996-97 season, since expanding the schedule of children’s programming 5 hours to 3, and still, currently, keeping it that way.
