I like your plan. Fix the rust issues, leave the 6 shooter in it or transplant a nicer one. Don't lower it. Put the highway rear end in it so it can run a bit faster, and generally upgrade it but leave the patina. Oh and probably should do something with the truck bed so you can haul stuff with it. Love the stuff you do Brent.
Another great video --- as you are aware - Apache is a very sought after truck - keep up the great work .
Great little inbween project. Fix it up a bit yep then up for sale . Find some of that SEB money. Rust repair and better hiway gears yes. I love to see old trucks put on the hiway. You have fun with it .

Like the '57 with the single front headlight a little but more but they are so danged cool...
BUT, don't just park it like everything else sitting around. It needs to be completed and used as a cruiser.

@@keithharden7844 The list is almost endless. The Studebaker he wants to drag race on the dirt, a '68 Cuda, all of the stuff parked on the way to the shop, the '54 Chevy, the '56 Dodge pickup, the Georgia T-Bird, etc.
It's a absolute joy to see this truck running again. Cars today are to complicated and will never have the style and simplicity of the old cars. Great job Brent as always....

Nice Truck! Badging is for 59. 64-early 70 truck 12 bolt it is the same width as the original 10 bolt that’s on it. You can get 8” wide wheels on the back. You would only need to flip the perches. A small block will work with the same perches so long as you have a block with tapped holes in the front.
I love it when he starts laughing when he first gets the engine started. Agree, this is one of the best car channels.

I am a 58 model I'm 64 years old and the 55-58 Chevy Apache is my favorite truck body style . My Grandfather (moms dad) inherited a 57 Apache from my Grandmothers Dad , my Great Grandfather . My job when we went for a ride was pushing the floor start button . When my Grandad finally parked the truck the steering box was bad but motor still ran . i was in my early 20s , i wanted that truck , he told me come get it . But i wasn't able at that time so my cousin went and got it . Thats ok cause it stayed in the family 3 generations for that truck .
There is something cathartic, about watching someone with your abilities, a pry bar in one hand and a bottle of hot sauce in the other, grind on an ol Chevy 6 banger, from the comfort of my Lazy boy. I may end up liking being old.
Brent, you always bring good memories back of good times in my life. Like 235 cubic inches, dual strombergs, dual exhaust, and sweet Jaguar engine sound while cruising. The 1958 is nice, I know you will made us old heads jealous of those good times. Keep up the excellent work.

The motor you took out is a 261, worth opening up to assess. You can tell it’s a 261 because of the way that it is. (The captains bars cast in the block beside the base of the distributor denotes a 261) Really enjoying your content Brent!
Yes sir that would be the case as that 1/2 ton pickup generally used the 235, but there is nothing to say that it is not original or possibly it could have been ordered that way from the selling dealer. Engine may be salvageable you never know.
I absolutely love these trucks! One day I’ll hopefully find one….that is if you don’t find them first lol

I'd soak it in marvel mystery oil& transmission fluid down in through the spark plug holes. At least that way while waiting to finish up your other projects first. It'll give more time to soak.& Seep through the cylinders.& Oil rings to free up faster to by doing that process.

I wish I can get/have those white rims. They do fit on my 1993 Nissan truck (planning on getting a 1990-95 Nissan Pathfinder).
Stock, the heater controls are to the right of the radio. Your dash has a heater delete plate. I believe your NAPCO truck and this truck should have the same heater and controls from the factory.
Not only will it run again, with your skills it will be the most bad ass Apache the Western Hemisphere has ever seen. Much respect for saving all these time capsules. ❤ you be the man😀

That view from above at the end is killer. I wouldn't change a thing other than fix the rust. Lowered with modern suspension would be a nice look, on any of your many small trucks. I am surprised that among your vast and ever growing collection there is no wrecker/tow truck.... yet.

I got it! build a wrecker bed that is interchangeable with the box on the general, there will be a million hits on those videos in no time flat….ha ha….
I love watching old trucks get back on the road. One of these days I'll be able to get something and slowly get it going

Love this, recycle the engine you pulled out of the previous build. And feel that it had the Pablo seal of approval. I say drop it and keep the straight 6.

Good work and good find! I love these trucks so much. I'd keep her stock. Plenty of these 55-59's rolling around all restomodded. You rarely see one stock. P.S. This is a '59, badges are the most obvious clue, but somebody could've swapped a front clip. But the original interior paint with the fawn color on the inside proves it's a '59. '58 and before had a grey with charcoal accented interior. Then they kept that fawn color throughout the 60's.
I think its sooo cool someone(you) takes on these rusted (seems it lived under 💦 water) gems and brings them back to life for its really shows every viewer what is possible, and what previous generations did to and with these rides), thank you. You Sir, turn lemons into lemonade every episode.

I'M 65, and I remember my daddy had a Apache pickup when I was a kid. I learned to drive it in my grandmother's field. I still remember the foot starter.

Honestly I think its pretty cool stock. The Hot Rodder in me says V8 but I like the idea of keeping the six banger and 3 on the tree. I would do disks up front, a drop axle, and lower the rear a touch, as well as fix the rust lol. Then drive the wheels off it. I'm picking up a solid Dodge short box and am seriously thinking of leaving it a slant 6 and 3 speed. Too bad on mine they converted it to a floor shift though. - Jamie

The reason I found your channel was because I initially did a search on 1958 Chevy Apache revivals. Never looked back. Anything, and I mean A-NY-THING, you do on a 2nd half 1955 to 1959 Chevy/GMC truck will always have my attention. Your plan is exactly what I wish to execute with my project - I want to get her back on the road. After a variety of prior thoughts, you have me thinking once again that sourcing a 235 would be the easiest solution that would still allow me to enjoy the truck. Between the NAPCO series and this gem, I pretty much have a foolproof roadmap. If you have video, it would be very cool to see how you were able to troubleshoot the electricals and wiring on this Apache through your "Other Half" channel. All in all, this episode was just made for me. Thanks a whole heap!!!

Yeah I like leaving it stock as well and a 6 cylinder, nice to have one setting around, just in case someone wants to buy it. Another great video on brakes jobs, something I need to do to my '49 Ford Custom Coupe. Had a 58 short box back in the day!!! Drove it seven years, it was sweet. Would love to see yours lowered so I can dream of what might have been ( big sigh ) . The short box step sides are on fire right now ...have been for a while . Nice to see you snagged one or two. My dad had a brand new 1960 Apache 30 tow truck. By all means lower with the drop front axel and lower the rear it'll look killer.

Sweet find I have 59 short 6ft fleet side and a 59 barn door suburban love ❤️ these trucks. They do not make the brow replacements but occasionally original GM repair panels pop up on eBay. Sure you can make them your the best fabrication guru 🤛

That's truly amazing the 1958 Chevy Apache. That's the year I was born 64-year-old truck with a straightforce cylinder amazing that it held up that well wish I held up that well haha.

Beautiful. Great video! Loved the drone cruise and chill. It’s perfect as is but I’d like to see you drop it on white walls with color match steelies and smoothie caps and throw on a budget bed. All wrapped up in a killer video series and maybe a new Apache/Pablo tee.
