Hey, great tutorial. I've done a few music videos and instead of lip syncing I just have the artist perform the song. Much easier to just sync with the audio track later on since you're just muting it anyway. I noticed in the original music video that the average joe can TELL that the artist is lip syncing. I had problems with this too until I just told talents to just perform it and actually sing/rap. This way, in the music video, it actually looks like they're performing at that very moment rather than lip syncing.
yeah, I agree it definitely helps if they actually sing rather than silently miming the vocals!

I really enjoy your videos and hearing your perspective and thought process.
I really loved the shot with the withering flower in the foreground and alicia behind it. I feel the very shallow depth of field really helped communicated that it was a dream in this shot. I think having a shallower depth of field throughout the music video would have helped and maybe using even wider lenses so you can be closeup to her and still see a lot of the background.
Another idea i got, was that utilising more over the shoulder shots would have helped the viewer identifying with the charakter even more.
